I am very interested to see how it transpires. I haven't seen anyone on his level talent wise, but is the rider able to make such a difference now with the aero and ride height ....? We shall find out this season.
When you simply look at MM in interviews - the impression is that at his current age, he is in much better shape than Rossi was at the same age. And - you can bet your ass he trains harder because than Rossi ever did, he KNOWS that his competition is closer, and that the top bikes are too similar. I'm not betting the house on him, but I sure as .... ain't betting against him.

I'm still on the fence about not so much the GP24, but the factory riders.

I'm a huge Bastiannini fan, but I am on the fence about him being rejuvinated until he goes well at the track that isn't Sepang or Qatar. Bagnaia's comments about the GP24 under braking mean he could potentially have a few washouts like he had early last yr ala COTA (I crashed but it was not my fault).

Like with anything, I think consistency is going to be the key. If a rider finishes in the top 5 for most races, they will win the title.

So a Joan Miracle season. I agree thats all it will take.

He has been outriding honda riders by miles with aero and ride height. These things aren't new to him. Having a bike that isn't dog .... is.
Absolutely but the black line painting from the front ain't there anymore. He is the only rider to ever be able to do that so regularly.
The extra load with the aero and possibly tyre changes have made that harder for even him to achieve.
I know he is the best but I think a point of separation he had, has been reduced somewhat. We will see.

I agree. At this point it is all speculation. He may not be able to do the immaculate saves with the current package, but I think he is still the best at riding when the bike when things aren't perfect. Bad weather or just a bad set up. His worse days are better than everyone else. A bad race for him is still a top 5. A bad race for pecco or martin is a 10th or so.

I don't think any of the GP24 riders are on his level talent wise.
Agree. When was the last time (if ever) Marquez had a bike as dominant as the current generation Ducati's?

Hence why I think he's been so calm in preseason. I think (am hoping) he knows that he is comfortable at a base level with the bike and knows the speed will come when he pushes.

I saw some pictures last yr of a shirtless Marc doing training tests at the Red Bull Athlete centre. I am 100% Not gay....but I'd think about it in his case. The dude is ....... RIPPED.

The best always find the fastest way to ride whatever is given to them. Look at people like Senna in F1. He was fast with turbo cars, naturally aspirated, low aero cars, high aero cars.

That's the key. Look at his 2019 season Vs Pecco's, Fabio's and Mir's seasons.

Bagnaia has set the record for the last 2 yrs straight for the most crashes/DNF's and still winning the championship. No way do you win a title against Marc Marquez on an even halfway decent bike with 5 DNF's.

I think saying it ended Willairots career is a bit of a stretch though. He raced in Moto2 for 5 more seasons, along with 2 in world supersport. His results before and after the crash didn't change considerably either.
Fair enough, I must confess to not following Willairot’s career closely outside of the incident. He was significantly injured in the crash however, which certainly didn’t help his season that season as was also the case for MM, and definitely had a right to be on a warm down lap with no expectation of being nerfed by a rider attempting a hot lap.

To be fair, it should be pointed out that Jum also had endless hate for Dani because of the 2006 incident, which was just one brief moment in a long career. Jum was not the most forgiving person. And of course, the whole PowerSlide tribe, myself included, jumped on the hate Dani wagon. Marquez was young and reckless but who the .... wasn't reckless at that age? He who is with sin . . . . What happened to Willairot was tragic, but .... me, people need to move on already. He was a kid. I wouldn't trust the average 18 yr old to drive my car around the block.
As I said, he was 18 and in his first moto 2 season and was sent out to do that lap by a pit crew of experienced adults. I do think he has generally shown more care for the safety of fellow competitors in his latter career, and Dorna has actually created a situation when the first lap and first corner are everything particularly in the sprint races and if you are riding a bike other than a Ducati.

Absolutely not defending Marc, because his repuation was somewhat deserved in a number of cases. However, for the Rathapark incident, I seem to recall reading somewhere that his team sent him out and they didn't tell him the session was over or something, so he was caught unawares.

That said, ultimately the responsibility was on him to realise others were going slowly.
He was so used to carving thorugh the field that it probably felt natural to him haha

Yes but are you 101% not gay? That's the number we're looking for here. 😁

Hi, new to this forum. Rossi fan so I'd be happy to see Marc not win. Never forgive him and the other spaniard for 2015.
That being said may the best man win. Pecco!
You are not going to like this place much. It is a very common opinion around here that Valentino ........ is the biggest douche bag to ever swing his leg over a motorcycle. Him and his fans toxic behavior doesn't fly around these parts.

We are all allowed an opinion. Looks like mine is going to differ from yours. ;) I'm not toxic though and I don't do childish insults just for the sake of it. Only here for the racing.
Now, what bike do you ride Dibby?

I didn't insult you just that trash bag of a person Rossi and his fans who cheer other riders crashing and boo them on the podium. If you want to talk 2015 you will find plenty here willing to prove you wrong.

What bike do I ride? Its a sweet cromo Schwin with a rad banana seat Miggity Mac.

Welcome, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

That said, Mdub is right. We have had many, many Valeban come and go here because this is one of the few places on earth that, while appreciating Rossi's talent and achievements, are not so far up his arse that we have yellow feet.

If you are a Rossi fan who can admit his wrongdoings, both in 2015 and other times, you'll be fine here. However, if you believe the koolaid that he spewed regarding Marc Marquez 'Fixing' the race in Australia 2015, then we will justifyably call you out for it.

Don't count on it since his first post was in a thread about Marc saying he would be happy to see Marc not win followed by not forgiving MM and JLo for 2015. Maybe we can enlighten him to the truth and remove his hi-vis colored glasses. Maybe he is trolling us and is a past member.
