Top stuff, Geo.

"Reaching 17K must have cost HRC a fortune.  So much for the 81mm bore limiting the cost."

If the Duke can do it...why is it a surprise that HRC can? (Unless the Duke is <cough> 920cc or whatever number was bandied about)

The 2012 Desmo was hitting 17,6xx from the get-go last year, while Honda started with a 16.3 limit.  Given the factory's relative budgets, you gotta consider the possibilities....

While there was a certain amount of herd mentality involved, most people agreed that Ducati must have been running something less than 1000cc.  The notion is perhaps not as far-fetched as you think.  ;)

A. Lorenzo won his third race. Biaggi won his first race

B. In 2006, there were FEWER bikes capable of winning. After all, as Rossi recently admitted in an interview with MCN (up on Youtube), he had half a second on anyone else. In 2006 there was only Rossi capable of winning, so the achievements of Pedrosa and Stoner were also "in a depleted field", by your own logic.

C. Marquez was being polite at Qatar. Next time, he will simply barge people aside. The first person he will barge aside will probably be his teammate, at which point Puig's head will explode with rage, while yours explodes as it tries to deal with the paradox of a rider you hate pulling a move you hate on a rider you hate even more.

D. Have you considered watching Korfbal?

Did you count to 10 then reply, or was it just one of the 'double' posts that you exploited?  You're so hard to gauge, know that I err on the side of the dry humor your expats back on the motherland are known for.. Krops, I accept I have a peculiar perspective about the MotoGP.

A. Errr, I knew I should have looked back to make sure.  Thanks for the correction, got it. Funny because I've been using this as part of the cornerstone of many arguments, now I'll have to re-ajust them all...Ok, Lorenzo didn't win his 2nd race, he won his 3rd.

B. Ok, this one has me confused.  There were MORE than 4 race winners in 2006, from three different manufactures including satellites, so how can anybody say there were "fewer bikes capable of wining"?  Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Pedrosa debut in 2006?  Didn't he come 2nd in his first race?  Pedrosa and Casey had to compete in a field were on any given event, Either of the 2 Ducatis, 2 factory Yamahas, 2 Hondas, 3 Sat Hondas, .... even 1 KRs bike almost won one had it not been for a brain fart: that makes 10 bikes capable of wining!  Where do you get "fewer bikes capable of wining"?

C. I accept and agree.  I don't think "polite" but rather "composed" and I'd also go with "surreal" and a bit of "star struck".  And with good reason, though I hope you are right, as long as he "barges" the riders who deserve it (by my count, that is one, VR).  Btw, I don't hate Marquez, you mistake not worshiping him like you for "hate".  No worries, its happened to me before, at one time a few peeps tallied me into the "i hate stoner' column, weird, I know, but it really did happen.  The times I've talked trash about Marc has been his epic fails and dangerous riding in Moto2.  In addition, I have talked trash about race direction who turned a blind eye to Marc's dangerous riding while others have been penalized for less, and when they finally did sanction him, it was embarrassingly weak.  I also talked trash of Marc's handlers, the adults in the room who were partially responsible for Marc's .... ups.  And of course, I accused the team of cheating, and guess what, so have others in a much better position than me to lodge the same complaint.  If you equate this with "hating" Marc, then you are not as smart as I think.  Oh and yes, I really do dislike (if you want to call it hate, I'll accept it) Pedrosa and his handler Alberto Puig.  Because they actively tried to .... over Nicky in one way or another.  I don't have any knowledge of Marc trying to .... over fellow competitors other than trying to run them off the track or forced enemas, the difference being I don't think the kid's intent came from a place as dastardly and loathsome as Puig's machinates or Pedro's arrogance.  My contention with you regarding Marc is that he isn't the second coming of Jesus, hes good, but for me about as good as (albeit a younger version of) Pedro, Lorenzo and Stoner when they were promoted.

D. Yes, looks fun.

It's an interesting notion...and some cool sound capture and analysis....but then I read stuff (and I quote a certain Lex) such as: "The engines are limited to roughly 26m/s piston velocity on the throttle"...oh dear. Piston velocity is a limit now is it? Straight from the Spalders copybook...

I raised this because there was much gnashing and wailing here and elsewhere that MotoGP NEEDS the Duke to be competitive. A call that has largely fallen silent. And I'm not surprised. Dismayed, but not surprised.

Does the wink mean another ....... Krop/Spalders/90deg 'revelation'?

Have to agree with Jumkie here, surely if Rossi had half a second on the field he would have been able to beat Hayden to the championship. Hell even Bayliss won a race and Stoner nearly managed one on tyres Michelin found in the bin behind the #46 garage.

Sloth,

if that post is a response to mine, then the 'speculation' came from the rider. And his excuse book. (can't remember which thread I raised this)

Without anyone actually saying as much, it seems like the speculation possibly come from the rider, but probably only because he made a passing comment about the brakes or took a second look at them after the race. I haven't seen Rossi or Yamaha quoted as saying there was any problem.

But Vale has been giving me the impression that he may have found Casey's discarded book of '1001 Reasons I Didn't Win'.

Cheers. VR said something about vibration from a disc issue. Can't link as I'm on my phone.

The 4 people who voted "will not win a race". At race 2 how's that all going for you. Being clever and stuff.

Isn't that the one with the foreward by Sete Gibernau?

He said he had vibration from a disk issue, there was a piece missing from his disk. GPInside - those stalwarts of scandal and ignorance - saw a photo of Rossi's bike with the arrows on the disk, and immediately decided it was mounted the wrong way. Which it wasn't.
