He said he had vibration from a disk issue, there was a piece missing from his disk. GPInside - those stalwarts of scandal and ignorance - saw a photo of Rossi's bike with the arrows on the disk, and immediately decided it was mounted the wrong way. Which it wasn't.

And from us originals in the he will win the title club to the ones now sneeking on the list (9) you are being watched.

Make that one other who just snuck on...

Thanks, Krop.
Never visited GPInside. All I've been after is a photo of this apocryphal missing piece. Until I see confirmation I'll chalk it up to lazy acceptance of His Master's Voice.

But Vale has been giving me the impression that he may have found Casey's discarded book of '1001 Reasons I Didn't Win'.

We accept that that's what happened to Rossi's bike in the same way that we accept that Stoner's tires were overinflated at Mugello in 2011. Of course, one of those is whining and the other is a genuine complaint about a technical issue. Please assign as appropriate to suit your own worldview.

I believe Rossi, in this case. However, he was off the lead pace all weekend (even getting beat by an "un-ride-able" Ducati in one such practice) and finished in a position in which these lap times would predict. You are correct, we don't need evidence, for or against, to make up our minds. Nobody has ever seen any evidence of what made MMq bike "appear" to be so much faster than the rest in Moto2, and now, its a moot point. In VR's case, I don't think VR could claim such a thing about the brakes and risk losing respect from those crew members who would be privy to the truth. I fully expect VR to be in top form this weekend at Jerez.

My interest in it has two parts.
1) Genuine curiosity as to the nature of the problem - installation issue? part loose? chunking? Pad knock?
2) The usual frustration that such utterances go unchecked by diffident/rapacious/lazy/(choose your own insult) commentators. After all, if true, Rossi - who went faster in the race than in any of the FP/QP sessions, even with the "problem" - had a mechanical issue that pulled him down the placings.
Interest-wise 1) outranks 2), but 2) gets more reaction.

Kropo told us to watch out for the factory Yams during the race, they found something in warmup session and were happy about it. Rossi (I believe) found he had a problem during the warm up lap.
No link Kropo told the powerslide scouting party at the race in person. It was relayed back to the rest of us.3500801367461511
I missed that, or should I say, I don't follow Krop. Could you post a link?
From what I can tell from the timesheets, there wasn't much to watch out for, was there? Lorenzo barely went faster in the race than in WUP and Rossi had a single 'tepid' lap in the high 2:04s.
To be fair, VR didn't blame his result on the problem, but he did state it didn't help. And further, a lot of the "disc broke" comment have come from journos, who seem to be reading more into what VR said than reasonable and/or banging up sensationalist headlines
Anyway, I'll get off the topic.

I so saw that, it was 9 then kapoosh it was 10 and then I rushed to the members section to see where everyone was and....

The one he didn't need because he is the winningest rider in MotoGP history? That one?

He said "a part of my disk was missing". I suspect it was a small flake or chip which fell off, and caused vibration on the brakes. Nothing massive, just enough to distract you when racing. Of course, fans and journos interpreted that to mean that he had both brake disks and part of his front wheel completely missing.

What front wheel? :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

He was the one running around piggybacking a bike. And a horse. and a dude with a cappuccino machine
Also, when the count went to 10 last night there was 5 anon members on. Lot of hedging around Marquez.
