Checinello to replace Puig is a fascinating rumor. I think one of Ducati's advantages is that satellites act as an extension of the factory. Last year it was clear the Ducati team would prefer Pecco win, but AFAIK they supported a fair fight, and did not withdraw any support from Jorge or Pramac. They would be happy with any Ducati champion.

I have been wondering why Honda and Yamaha often treat their satellites so poorly. Is it corporate that would be embarrassed if the satellite beat the factory? Or is it like for riders, your first competitor is your teammate. Maybe factory Honda or Yamaha could enjoy a satellite champion on their bike, is it the race team that would be embarrassed? You don't want your satellite to take your status as factory team! But the lack of cooperation holds them back.

I can;t see Taka staying beyond this yr, but then we say that every yr. Hasn't Ogura left Honda now too?

What is the potential of Idemitsu (and thus the 2nd LCR bike) leaving altogether?

Nakagami seems done with the current situation at Honda

On a partially repaved circuit where the field was setting new lap records, Honda were slower. That says it all, I guess. The riders who were contracted with the team last year were disgusted to turn slower lap times, Zarco and Marini haven't reached breaking point yet.

The riders claim the bike feels heavy and doesn't change directions well, even though the RC is lighter than last year. This suggests the center of mass is higher? To transfer weight to the rear and improve rear grip? To hold help it hold cornerspeed on a line? This sounds reminiscent of what Honda were doing in the run-up to the 800s with Nicky's development bike.

Mir's remarks hint at Honda's reasoning for hiring Zarco and Marini. Mir says he has no idea what's going on and the engineers need to figure it out. It seems the engineers may be hoping for more input from the riders.

Seems a reasonable summary of what’s happening. Difficult to fix a problem when you don’t know what it is

There’s no one to replace Taka, would they fill the spot with a non Japanese rider?

Given the requirements for Idemitsu is to have a Japanese rider, not unless they replace Taka AND their sponsor.

Rumor mill

Rumors coming from Italy; apperently LCR team boss and owner, Lucio Checinello has been approached by the Honda big bosses and offered the chance to take Alberto Puig place Ie. Take the helm of the official HondaHRC team
Not surprising that Honda are looking to move on Puig. Under his watch, Honda has gone from #1 to last.

Not completely true but sadly not untrue either.
Certainly the initial V5 motogp 4 stroke bike was a great bike/engineering tour de force, but many of their titles have been won by absolutely top echelon riders, often multiple times, namely MM, Doohan and Rossi, snd I guess Spencer who was pretty much before my time who I gather was fantastic in his pomp but flared out rather quickly.

Marini really impresses by finishing last every race instead of crashing out like the other hondas. That’s really something
That’s what Taka use to do - not crash but finish nowhere

All 4 of the Honda riders have shown in past years that they can ride including Taka (2020) and none of them can get the Honda in the points at a circuit where last year victory was done on a Honda
