Well Toes had few of those, and look where it landed him.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (OahuGrown @ Oct 7 2009, 01:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>but the question still remains at how fast Ben will be able to adapt and adjust the bike to his riding style.

I think he'll do fine. The Yamaha/Hondas are conventional, where as the Ducati is like learning how to ride a firecracker. Look a Melandri, even though he's on a dog of a bike, he did alot better than Ducati. Why? Because Ducati is a freak. Ben did good enough on the Suzuki, the world knew it, everybody except that moron Paul Denning (why he still has his job is a reflection of Suzuki's willingness to win). Now consider he will be on a much better bike than a full factory Suzuki. I'm not worried about Spies. I just hope the expectations are realistic. He will be well inside the top ten no problem.

He had a two year contract. Not much of a option genius.

I'm sure Takahashi had a contract for at least a year. Melandri had a 2-year contract with Ducati too. Hopper and Gibbers had contracts too (but their rides disappeared so we'll leave them out of this).

GP contracts are not ironclad. Also, Toseland's 1st year performance was relatively positive (other than not improving much throughout the year) and I don't think many/any felt him undeserving of a second season.

Dude stop making excuses for your mancrush Nicky Hayden. Fact is his days are numbered, Honda's not there to save his ... anymore. Can you say........ Adios Amigo !!

Honda never saved his .... Remember, Honda came calling for him after he signed a letter of intent with Yamaha to ride in the factory team in 2003. He was Rookie of the Year in that year, missed a race or two through injury and had two mechanical failures in 2004 and showed enough promise to earn another contract. Who was Honda going to replace him with after 2004? There were no better options than Hayden after 2004. And if you truly believe that he didn't earn his contract in 2006 (when, less you forget, Ducati and Yamaha were both trying to get him to leave Honda) then I've been right all along and you really don't follow motorcycle racing.

Oh come on Austin. You could put a monkey or Uccio on those Honda's and it'll still win you championships... YOU should know that.

True although even my misses knows the tech3 yam is the best sat bike on the grid and better than the zook ben wild carded on. personally i will be comparing him more to simonchelli than the top factory boys to judge his motogp performance in his rookie year.

I re-read what I wrote and I may have gone too far about Uccio being able to win championships on the Hondas. But monkeys for sure.

Back on topic. I don't think Spies will struggle much at all, set-up with the MotoGP bikes will be the key as is for everyone who's new to the game, so having Colin Edwards as a teammate will be a big plus.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>Spies will take his crew chief Tom Houseworth and mechanic Gregory Wood, who have both been with him since his AMA days, to Tech 3 next season.

Shades of Rossi and Burgess...... If Nicky only had this option.
