I'm a massive Marquez supporter, but sorry, he made a few mistakes today.
He made a mistake in stalling the bike, and instead of acknowledging this, and starting from the pit lane he decided to try to get back on the grid.

Then when he got the ride through penalty, he lost his head a bit, and went really agressive/borderline illegal, on some moves. He deserves the penalties. Hopefully he can learn from this.
I think even from pit lane, he would have finished top 3.

I think the problem is race direction are not consistent with the penalties.

I too am a Marquez fan but today he was out of order.

Think it was Colin Edwards that said if he had done everything right after stalling he would have started 6 seconds down and with his pace, won with relative ease. Unfortunately the red mist came down today, and what he was doing wasn't borderline illegal. It was just illegal.

Made it more entertaining for all the wrong reasons though but he isn't the first and won't be the last to lose the plot on raceday.
The fallout is going to be drawn out now after coming together with Rossi. Luckily enough, he is thick skinned and probably arrogant enough to not care.

Can someone answer this for me?

Before everyone left the grid to change bikes, Vinales changed from "Wet" knee sliders to "dry" knee sliders.

I didn't know there was a difference.

Explanation Anybody?

Aside from that, I think MM93 lost his head out there today. Really a shame I think. He has become my favorite premier class rider.

Some riders prefer a knee slider that is twice as thick as the “Dry” one for riding on the rain.

Yeah, I think Rossi fans will drag this out forever...

I think Marquez just needs to get back to winning normally. At least Austin is next.

Agree with you about Colin Edwards' statement

Agree for the large part - but it wasn't "red mist" - that implies anger. That was Canet and that was vengeful. It's a consequence of being way, way faster than his competitors and showing impatience, frustration and total disregard for the rest of the field. If there was any anger it will be at himself for the series of errors and his conduct.

I watch this sport to be entertained - and barring his old "murderous incarnation/reputation" Márquez has never been anything other than entertaining. As you say, today it was for the wrong reasons - but I had to laugh over the Rossi scenario. Not only in terms of Sepang, but at a circuit which has over the last three years made a national sport out of cheering fallen riders.

In Moto3 Martin went to change tires and the start was not delayed. Why Miller wasn't allowed to start in time? If some wanted to change their tires, well, isn't that their problem?

Feel free to bash me, but honestly I can't remember having more fun than today while watching a race, ever.

I believe the rational was that because all of the grid bar Miller swapped bikes, then it wouldn't have been safe to have 23 bikes starting from pit lane

No bashing from me. I totally agree.
The only thing more entertaining is social media at the moment. A lot of  and more:furious: with a little

I'm not really a social media person so I'll miss a bit of the fun there...

But hey, can you imagine watching the Marquez-Rossi drama on the Italian TV without being a fan of any of the two?

Looks like I'm up for one helluva night!

Now I know I'm going to be the one getting bashed but here goes:
I should be watching the end of the Masters golf but can't tear myself away from the aggro. :giggle::giggle:

Because the entire field headed into the pits and would have all piled out of the pit lane at once which was much wetter - and would have been lethal. What happened at Sachsenring three years ago when Bradl was in a similar situation should have set a precedent for such an eventuality only this time the entire gird headed in so it was worse.

The guy I feel sorry for is Morbidelli who was the first to call a change to slicks and would have started from pit lane alone. Michael Bartolomei was livid.

Nah you won't be bashed for that. Anyone with a bit of a sports culture should appreciate Augusta, and I am not even a golf fan.
