Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana 2022

Pecco is going to be protected by a Wolf-pack of Ducatis. Obviously qualifying plays a big part but if you are Pecco, do you try to get out front or settle for riding mid-pack and bringing it home?
As long as he doesn’t fall off, Bagnaia could relatively cruise to a few points. And what odds is a Fabio win anyway?

6 wins and 5 DNF Versus 3 wins and 3 DNF

Both are deserving of the title.

But I do not see Quartaro being able to beat every other Ducati on that track and have Bagnaia fall, the sheer logistics of the achievement if Quartararo was to win the title is enourmous.

If Quartaro is leading, the sea of Ducati will part for Bagnaia to ensure that he is well positioned and likewise, that same sea will not part for Quartararo
They both deserve it in the context of the standard of MotoGP. The days of a rider dominating it aren’t here right now.

Quartararo has had the odds stacked against him all season. The main advantage he had was Bagnaia chucking it up the road early on in the season. As soon as the 2022 Ducati got sorted, the advantage was huge. Yamaha have got a lot of catching up to do.

It doesn’t matter what Bagnaia does, all that is necessary is for one Ducati to beat FQ, and according to the commentary during P2 their riders are under instructions to win, with any one of them doing so achieving Ducati’s purpose. I can’t see all 8 of them taking each other out, and FQ would still then have to beat MM.

I don’t believe Ducati just happen to have so many of the best riders on the grid. They probably should give the title to Gigi.

Quartararo starts from the second row tomorrow. He'll need to do a hell of a start to have a chance. Bagnaia hasn't been himself all weekend long, he'll ride very conservatively.

Sometimes makes a rider more likely to fall off, MM nearly did riding conservatively in the title deciding race that year against Dovi, and Valentino famously did in 2006 when he didn't need to win, although that was subsequently attributed to a tyre problem.

He will ride protected.

No doubt, if needed there will be Ducati around him or who may suffer 'mapping 8' moments if Bagnaia needs it to get the title.

All he needs to do is finish and points will come

How often do we see it?

So many tales of riders and club level and higher who fall or make costly mistakes (run wide) when trying to go slower - being in that mental 'zone' of consistency is a powerful concentration drug

Nice to see that health concerns are taken seriously

I cannot see Fabio doing much better than third or fourth tomorrow, but I hope he rides like a man possessed and wins it. Then it’s all on Bagnaia not riding uptight. Similar to Fernandez and Gardner in Moto2 last year.

Astonishing. He wouldn’t be allowed to participate in rugby or other contact football codes, or even in cricket, but as was said in the comments can ride a bike at 350 kph despite the potentially lethal consequences for himself and his competitors.

Well, it was a race. It didn't deliver on the early race tension as it was soon apparent that Fabio didn't have the pace to reach the leading group in time. Pecco rode more conservatively than I thought he would, losing a wing may have played a part in it. But can't argue with 7 wins vs 3. Congratulations dude.

Rins, the unsung hero delivering a victory in Suzuki's last ever MGP race. Binder with the ride of the day. Now let's wait for the next season, and hope for a better effort from KTM, Honda and Yamaha.

I thought Pecco rode as fast as I expected. He just needed to nurse it home.

Binder rode brilliantly, but I would have to give Rins rider of the day. Fantastic to see Suzuki go out on a high. I hope they come back one day, but cannot see that happening unless a lot changes. I met Rins in Bologna on the Saturday night of Misano this year and he is a really nice guy. We were both eating in the same pizza restaurant. I hope he does well at Honda, but that bike…

Well…..I’ll echo it, that was a race. Fantastic job from Rins, he won there in the wet last time I was there as well. The usual from Marquez. Binder on pace. I wonder what to attribute these late season heroics from riders and bikes who were never in it all year ???????

Congratulations to Pecco. As has been said, a couple less DNF’s from Fabio and the story could have been different. But the story can always be different. One thing is for sure, all the fast young riders will keep learning. And the slow young riders will still be slow no matter how much they learn. There’s always world superbike.

On to next year. Will Fabs keep it together and have more engine? Will Marquez return to form? There will be war at Ducati, with the factory intrigues making everything worse. The crashers will keep crashing. I’d like to see Aprilia do well. Rider and team will have to execute better, definitely possible. KTM and Binder, wild card again?

I think Rins will do better on the LCR than Mir will do on the factory ride. That’s how much I think of Mir. Miller and Binder will be interesting at KTM. Talking about Miller staying on the bike is like talking about Marquez staying on the bike, it ain’t gonna happen.

Have a good off season and holidays to everybody here!

I am hoping that Morbidelli can find some form on an improved Yamaha. Otherwise, not sure what the future holds for him.

Hi I'm new here. Today was a big win for a group who doesn't have many wins. A group of people who have been prosecuted for their crimes long enough. That group is drunk drivers. Today showed us that you can drink and drive, crash your car and face no consequences what so ever. Not only that but if people question your actions your friends and teammates may jump down their throat in defense of your actions. This is a huge win for all the people locked up for vehicular manslaughter. So the next time you have way too much to drink and have to decide if you should drive home or not, have one more and celebrate this win for drunkards everywhere before starting your car and driving home. So congratulations to Petco Bagnia and all the other alcoholics who refuse to even acknowledge their actions. This win is for you. Drink one for me tonight.

I lost a lot of respect for Pecco after that. He lost a bit more with the Dennis Rodman helmet at Misano. I wanted Fabio to win, but he had his photo taken with a gun in the States, which is another contentious moral issue for me.

To me, racers are like artists: I don’t care about their ... life, hobbies, interests, politics, drinking or drug use or anything else beyond his or her capability to ride the bike when they show up at the track. It’s like artists, musicians and writers: same thing. I can love Celine’s writing and detest his politics.

It’s not that I don’t care about these things, some of them I do but that’s a whole ‘nother oprah.
