Lorenzo has made a big mistake signing for Ducati this early, they look like repeating the same form as last year, ie strong start then gradually slipping further behind as the season wears on, it's a better bike than the one Rossi rode but still not good enough to continually challenge for wins !

Hearing how much he's supposedly being paid i'd say it's a very profitable 'mistake',and it comes with the added bonus of not having a whining piece of .... on the other side of the garage.

The money is a bonus yes, but it's not just about that. It's about leaving a toxic atmosphere. Yamaha have clearly shown with the way they acted last year whose basket they have put their eggs in, and it isn't Lorenzo's. Name another time that a World Champions celebrations have been cancelled, at the behest of his own team? Coupled to the rumours that Rossi will be moving into a managerial role at Yamaha once he finishes riding, I think that Lorenzo realised that the odds were going to be increasingly stacked against him to do well and be happy. It is also known that a content, relaxed Lorenzo is a fast Lorenzo. He may not win another championship with Ducati, but he will certainly have a better working environment where is is appreciated and valued for what he is: a Multiple World Champion. That means more to him than trying to win more titles at Yamaha against a toxic team mate whom the team value more than you.
