FINALLY CONFIRMED!! Ducati Welcome Lorenzo

I agree, if you want to be technical (excuse the pun).

BUT! As has been said. If you work in an office job and have all the same equipment at your disposal as say the boss' golden goose son, yet he gets preferential treatment and all the emotional support in line with his popularity as the golden goose, there isn't anyone who wouldn't feel aggrieved at that and want to go somewhere they were felt more valued.

Technical treatment. Marketing as I said is a different cup of tea, and Rossi certainly gets a marketing treatment proportional to his popularity.

But the nature of the marketing has fuelled the popularity and became exponentially self -perpetuating. The popularity is very much a consequence of the marketing which has been seized upon by both the organisers and the marque. It is this prescribed narrative which is subscribed to by the press, pundits, the paddock and the punters and has mushroomed to the detriment, the integrity but the financial benefit of the sport. It subjectively scripts commentary booths, column space and as some contentiously maintain, the rules themselves. The VR46 brand became bigger than the sport itself years ago in a flagrant bid to flog it to the masses - and that's never a good thing.

No doubt Rossi has been ruthlessly fighting all of his rivals by all means, but as end result of all that it's impossible not to see that the one being "demonized" now is just... him. You will call it payback, but if demonizing is something wrong, it shouldn't be justified in any case.
Sorry J4rn0.

Valentino being demonised by 8 or 10 people on here is rather a different order of magnitude than Stoner basically leaving the sport, Lorenzo leaving Yamaha after winning 3 of the last 6 championships for them including the most recent one, and MM being booed on the podium at most tracks which would seem likely to continue well into Rossi's retirement.

That is the real world, not this forum, which I would have thought a man of your intellect recognised, and iirc you have actually said this forum is often far removed from the real world.

I continue to value your contribution to the forum and give you credit for continuing to fight your corner in the current adverse (for you) circumstances, as you may recall I did when the forum was awash with Stoner hatred when he wasn't doing so well, although not from you of course.

I was actually going to admonish Jumkie for insulting you given that you usually post in a calm, polite and rational fashion even when I disagree with you, but realised that this only applied to me rather than him; you two have been happy to insult each other for years.

It is here that I see a huge influence J4.

No doubt that if Rossi were to win a 10th, DORNA will make big dollars, but look at the merchandise including bikes that can then be sold as commemorative items for that 10th title.

I may well be wrong, may even be seen as a Rossi basher but my conspiratorial thoughts are that the lure of the 10th title has helped him secure the support for DORNA, Yamaha and the sundry sponsors that will all get a sensational ROI if/when it occurs (my mind says it will - in 2017, just that my conspiracy laden mind says that things will conspire to make sure of it)

No doubt. But the other side of the coin is that while Yamaha's marketing and Dorna may have been rooting for his 10th title, certainly Lorenzo, Honda and Marquez (and other players as well) most certainly were not. It was the most undesirable thing for them. So as I said, you cannot count #46 powerful friends without counting also his powerful enemies.

But have those powerful enemies actually done anything to stop him if you will? Having powerful enemies means precisely nothing if they can't deploy their power to stop their nemesis. We watched Dorna put a stop to what would have most likely been a romp to the title for Stoner in 2012 had the rules not been changed. If anything Honda could do nothing about changes made to try and help VR on the Ducati. Powerful without power is powerless. Don't kid yourself.

I never insulted Jums, other than saying that probably sometimes he drinks too much (he never denied it). I tend to justify his cheap debating tricks because of that. I don't resent his posts targeting me, also because they are usually verbose and TL;DR applies. ;)

How can one say that Honda, Lorenzo, Marquez and other competitors are powerless? Speak of kidding oneself.

It is to that which I specifically referred. I can't really take Jumkie to task when you regularly apply a sobriquet to him based on it.

Not very relevant in any case to less than a score of posters "demonising" Rossi on here, as opposed to numbers orders of magnitude greater on many other forums, and untold numbers in the wider world, doing so in regard to the other riders I mentioned.

I'm not complaining about the anti-Rossi atmosphere here. Some Italian forums are harder than this on him, you'd be surprised. All Ducati fans in Italy hate Rossi with all their heart since 2007, so being a Ducati aficionado myself, with as lot of friends around Bologna, I have plenty of training debating Rossi with his "haters". What I do is, when things become loaded too much on one side, put some weight on the other side just for the sake of balance. :)

I admit, I was harsh on J4rn0. Maybe I should have edited his name out and just inserted "boppers" then it wouldn't have been so personal. My bad.

I've gone back to edit my post.

Oh be quite, you read every word.

You speak of powerful enemies? Like the ones who were gaged not to release information that they themselves claimed would prove damaging to Rossi. (I'm not debating the truth of the claim) I'm pointing out this "power" you speak of. Rossi's power and influence can trump thee most powerful manufacturer in the sport. There is your power parity.

Lorenzo is also a "powerful" enemy of Rossi. Let us see, oh yeah his celebration party was canceled for Rossi's pity party. So much for power parity.

Marquez is also a "powerful" enemy, the lad is getting booed because he's seen as a cheating pariah.

The entire sport is not more powerful than Rossi. Not when the virtual owner of the sport, CEO is caught on camera kowtowing to this Emperor. Summoned like a mail room employee to the Boss's motorhome office.

Power you say?

No... The motorhome!? ...Again? :lazy:

Not true .............. to a degree.

If your friends have control of all the powerful weapons whilst your enemies have only bows and arrows, you remain with the upper hand.

It may well be me, but if JL/MM/HRC wanted a 10th title for VR, then they are doing a disservice being in the sport are they not - what person or team would support the opposition to the detriment of themselves or their employees?

The shame is J4, that yes, combined these others have power but they do not possess the power that VR does, with those that matter most (self interest rules remember ........... and you should also recall that whilst I have serious issues with the power of Rossi, I blame those that allowed him to develop and use the power as they could have stopped it)

But you admit he has great power, correct?

Arab, together we can DESTROY this forum if you like. totally your call.

Well besides starting a thread about nests, posting a picture of a Nazi battleship by mistake and Valentino Rossi performing the ice bucket challenge, you've not made a very good job of it so far.

I'd say that your business integrity is in greater jeopardy. As a similar troll and your vastly superior predecessor was very fond of saying 'carry on' - indeed, it's your call.

In the meantime, haven't you got several lawsuits to file?

Oh I disagree. I'd say in my short tenure on this forum I've created quite a stir. I know for a fact you love this forum. And trust me, I'm quite skilled in this area. And I will think nothing about bringing this server to it's knees.

So, you can back the .... off, because you really have no idea about this matter whatsoever, and in return I'll be less of a troll. But I'm not leaving.

Why on earth would I want you leave? During your brief tenure you've made a complete fool out of yourself...nothing more, but that in itself is very entertaining. As I said before I find you highly amusing. Particularly the revelations about your sordid private life Thomas.

Like I say, I'd be more worried about your business integrity as opposed to a motorcycle racing forum populated by 'idiots'.

My business integrity is absolutely fine. I have NOTHING to hide. You think because some nutty blogger is accusing me of POSTING about a supposed friend who supposedly short changed a sugar baby's allowance, that I'm worried? OMG please.

I could not care less whether you think I've made a fool out of myself. what does it say about your life that you have invested QUITE a bit of time reading and responding to my posts? Right? Ok then, carry on as you say.
