Awesome return to qualifying for Stoner. Front row. Race will be a battle between Stoner and Rossi for the victory. Lorenzo is fast but wont be able to race with these guys on Sunday. Pressure is on for the Yamaha pair to maintain their dominance.

If Stoner finishes the season strong with a couple of wins then all of us Stoner fans will be able to qualify Rossi's championship win with "he only won because Stoner was out for 3 races!!!!" How sweet that would be!

shake of the head from casey... gotta stop being so hard on himself, doesnt wanna end up in the same boat as before.

He shook his head because he passed the finish line just after the flag, and couldn't do one more lap.
His lap times on hard tyres are actually excellent, if he can keep that pace tomorrow he's a contender for the win.

Chickens (premature numbering of)
Bad karma (inviting of)

I tend to agree with rossi v stoner for this race, depending on whether fuel is turned up on the ducati for practice etc about which I think previous speculation has not been entirely unreasonable, although there would seem little point to such shenanigans at this particular time.

He should have shook his head when he decided to miss 3 races! He cant expect to come back from a 3 race absence and be runing at the front! he should be happy with 3rd. Jorge's looking good at the front. It seems there was some more static carried over between De angelis and Hayden. I didnt see the incident, but it was on the highlights after Qualifying finished.

Sweet to think about what could of been? Instead you should bang your head against the wall for what could have been if Casey didnt need his 1 month nappy time. Woulda, shoulda, coulda. He needs to hope both the boppsy twins goes down to have a shot at the win they are both faster than him. What quali did you watch?

I agree Jaz, as I believe Casey is the consummate competitor and needs to "relax" to stay healthy in both body and mind. Having said that,............... it is great to see him back on the starting grid!! Love him or hate him, it's great to see him compete at the front. It was getting a little tiresome discussing Lorenzo, Rossi, and Pedrosa.

As a fan of his it was good to see his brief Motogp.com interview, he seemed in good spirits, and more upbeat and interactive. However, I'll wait and see how he holds up mentally and physically for the next few rounds before I get too excited.

I think of the top four lorenzo, and stoner (on previous form this year anyway for whatever reason) are the more likely not to match their relative practice pace, whilst rossi (commonly) and pedrosa (on occasion) may exceed it.

Colin of course never matches his practice pace.

as casey has said before, he puts immense pressure on himself and his surrounding team and this is what keeps him motivated/driven. IMO if he stopped approaching race weekends like he normally does, then he would not be so fast.
and yes, its good to have him back.there should be one more bike fighting for the podium spots now (hopefully closely with the other 3 top riders).

I couldn't agree more Al, it's a delicate balancing act, especially now with his "big return", to stay very competitive and yet not eat himself up while doing so.......but that's what his job is as a professional racer, no one said it's easy. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he can pull it off, for the sport and for himself.

All these dudes put immense pressuare on themselves before the races! I remember reading somewhere that Nicky Hayden was so nervous about his ...... qualifying at Laguna that he litteraly got sick to his stomach (throwing up and stuff like that). Luckily he ended up doing ok

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pigeon @ Oct 3 2009, 03:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>edit a change to the rules re:the 5 engines for the rest of the season.
before if u used more than 5 engines it was a -10 point rider penalty.

now its the team will lose -10 points in the team standings and the rider will start the race from the back of the grid if they use more than 5 engines.no points deducted

That's some very important and good changes to the rules.

No doubt they all put a lot pressure on them selves but it is how they react to that pressure that differentiate them. Stoner seem to react very negative to any disturbances and that is not a good thing. Also, there seems to be a difference to how they react on the stress of pushing the bike.
We know Rossi are most of all having fun.
Lorenzo more than anything gets the taste of a win.
Stoner, I don't know but there seems as if there often are a factor of stress from pushing hard. Ref. his complaints after a win and so on. He don't seem to enjoy a win as much as the other two.
I'm not counting in Pedrosa here for obvious reasons

With Kallio being so close to Nicky on start grid, who wants to bet me 5 bucks he will do something stupid?

The qualifying you watch is different to most of us. You watch a version filtered through some warped type of perception as I am sure your intellect doesn't come up with your comments all on its own!

I just read where Stoner has dumped the carbon swingarm and is running the aluminum. Has the carbon bits been a failed experiment!
