title says

Maverick Viñales - breaks the contract with his team

Viñales mentioned the worsening of his relationship with the team over the course of the season as he made repeated calls for better machinery in order to bolster his title bid.

Q. Maverick, we were quite surprised not to see you on track this morning, what's the situation?

A. We won't take part in the race as the team hasn't complied with the agreement we had.

Q. However you're under contract with the team...

A. Yeah, you can sign whatever you want, but when things just get worse and worse, you have to find solutions.

Q. What did you request for those last three races, what pushed you to make this decision?

A. Since halfway through the season, they haven't done all they could, I'm always giving my best - so I wanted to leave the team after those last three races and have a "clean" break-up, but they wouldn't agree so today I'm heading home.

Q. But the plan was to leave at the end of the season, not now...

A. Yeah, definitely - it's always better to finish in a good way but if they want to be difficult then we will be difficult too. I would have raced until the end of the season if they agreed to release me at the end of the year.

Q. Is it all about not getting the bike you wanted or because you felt you weren't supported by the team as much as you wished?

A. It's not that much about the support, but I think it's a second division team - I have to try and win the Championship next year and I don't think I could do it with this team, so that's why I took this decision.

ah ...., i need the subscription for that right?

If you get it, don't buy it for this little interview, get it for the practices and racing. Since you live in Europe, I'm gonna assume you get all that coverage for free anyway. The site does have interviews of riders after every session, so I guess you guys don't get that, which is pretty cool.

The chick says, but you already signed your contract. Tandrumface (who reminds me of Chad Reed in his expressions) says, well you can sign what ever you want it doesn't mean anything. hahaha. He should be a lawyer. He tries to make the case that he would have raced these 3 remaining races if the team guaranteed him he would be release from his contract at the end of the season. ooops, to bad he just signed a two year deal. Trying to negotiate new terms in a moments notice before a practice session, hahaha, not very smart.

Excellent translation dude. Btw, the vid Pidge posted is not the same vid in motogp.com, but he basically says the same ..... Maybe he should let off some steam like VR and make a mock interview with the team so he can talk all the .... he wants, eh?

what a little ........! "Yeah, you can sign whatever you want, but when things just get worse and worse, you have to find solutions."

good luck with that attitude!

thanks for posting, greatly entertaining to watch stupid people

no need for a subscription for me, i watch sport1 which is without doubt the best tv coverage out there.we get every session for every class except fp1 (for which there is only a 5-10 min) summary live and replays. if i could download the races in 720p i would choose sport1 over british eurosport.i could go on with the good interviews (hoffmann speaks english, italian, french and spanish fluently),but in short there is no reason at all to buy the subscription, i can deal with 2 x 5 minute breaks in between races.no comparison to ....... speed channel, i watched that once and never again!

Well, take a look at his season, most of his point losses have come from his own crashes. Can you imagine if the team said, hey, our rider is not keeping his end of the bargin, we didn't mean to hire a crasher, and then sit him down? There would have been hell to pay. This kid needs to realize its a two way street. And I can hardly understand how he may claim its a 2nd tier team having won the most races in the class this year. Its not like he is riding for Ducati.

The kid is bitter because he was (in many minds) a sure thing for the title and he blew it. So the spoiled child quit bc theres no way it could be his fault.......

Interesting comment i read on Motomatters....does anyone know about this?

"The initial contract breach was between Vinales and Jove, with Jove failing to inform Vinales about offers from other teams, when he was contractually obliged too as Vinales personal manager. Here Jove had a conflict of interest as he is also the team manager and wanted to sign Finales too the team and not allow him to go elsewhere. Vinales signed a contract on the belief there were not other offers because Jove withheld the info. His recently signed contract will not be enforceable."

I wouldn't put too much stock in some faceless comment by some dude that didn't actually identify himself. But as I said before, many of these agents are snakes. Puig being #1 among them. But I can think of several others.

Spanish press can't understand the reasons for this idiot move. Neither can many fellow riders. Efren Vazquez was tweeting his amazement at Mav's rash move.

Ngads, I've also heard that latest info around here. By some tweets of Aspars, it looks like he had presented a deal to Mav's manager in the spring. Mav never heard about it.

This is good soap drama.

yes, if indeed he was not informed that there were other offers he has every right to be pissed off and do something about it.

but walking out of a championship race? he could have just waited the 3 races and at least try ,shows what the championship and sportmanship mean to him.

no sympathy for dealing with that issue this way from me.but then again i never liked him.also he's ugly

What an idiot! He still could have taken the championship, if Cortese finished out of the points a few times. You never know what could happen, remember 2006 MotoGP with Hayden and Rossi???

hahaha, holy ....! I tuned into my vid pass this morning and I was greeted by cameras following Vinales into the airport. hahahaha. God thank you for a great start to my morning. They say laughter is the best medicine, and motogp.com was handing out the meds. Oh Lord, that was awkward. Somebody, please post this vid. If Dorna had any heart, they'd make it a free vid. Its them following around as he carts his luggage saying nothing, people around him with expressions like, WTF, with a few hellos. They finally get him to speak, where inevitably as I called it, he was advised to say nothing further on the matter. What a sad sad sad end to the video, brought a tear to my eye as he walks through the gate all alone, the camera guy gets a shot of the other camera guy taking a camera shot of Vinales in his final walk of shame.

Maverik's last race?

Note that Marquez promptly crashes, and then blatantly cheats!
