Seriously, what happened today pretty much match my earlier comments in this thread. Haga keeps bleeding points to Spies and could make it interesting if he bins it a few times. Now Spies is only 14 pts. away from 1st in the championship. It is definitely Spies' championship to lose now.

I thought momentum clearly shifted to Spies at the Miller round when Haga ended up mid-pack in both the races. Even though Spies' bike failures are maddening, he is fast everywhere. It is not going to be Haga's year and I'm not sure he will ever win a championship now. I think the door has closed.

Certainly, you have to believe that Spies will be unstoppable next year - (if he's remains in the series that is).

BEN THE TEXAS TERROR SPIES MOTHERFUCKERS!

But then, he was the hardest man on a motorcycle - period!
Apparently he even asked the doctor at the circuit if he could just tape up the finger and let him go out in race 2, and promised he'd go to hospital to get it sorted afterwards.

The 1198 is by far teh best bike on the grid. Why do you think that so many teams are sporting them? Why are they leading the constructors championship? Why do they have 0 mechanicals? Why have they turned runner ups into champions? You even said it yourself, "Look what they have done to Haga." I could go on

Saying the Yamaha is the class of the paddock when properly maintained is complete ......... I gues Spies is the only one that can maintain his for about half of the time
<
. None of the other Yamaha riders are close so I guess thier Yamaha sucks ... doesn't it.

Haga was inconsistent not the Yamaha IMO. Now we have a new Yamaha and it's very inconsistent. Haga + new Yamaha does not equal a championship. He's very lucky to be with Ducati.

Should Ducati ask Fabrizio to take a back seat to Haga? He is taking points away from Haga and he is racing him hard sometimes. He hasn't taken him out nor- come close.

ok.......................

Pretty funny the way Spies had Biaggi sitting on his tail the whole race and lots
of folks sucked into the imagined drama, wondering if Biaggi was going to
try some kamikaze pass on the last lap - and then on the last lap Spies
just dialing it up a notch and pulling away so effortlessly. I pictured him
inside his helmet with a big-... grin on his face.

Hated to see Haga go down so bad and damn, it's pretty rare to see a
rider get hit by his own bike like that. That's some seriously ...... luck.
I was hoping against hope that he was going to luck out and not get
hurt too bad. I'd love to see Spies win this year - but everyone wants
to see him fight it out. Once Haga and Biaggi were down - the rest
of the race up at the front felt like AMA deja vu when Spies and
Mladin were walking away from everyone like they were standing
still. Too ....... boring.

And I can't ....... believe that ..... Biaggi wasn't penalized for his
totally bonehead re-entry onto the track when he slammed into
whoever that was. What a jerk-off!

OK what. The success of the Yamaha is due to Ben Spies, period. If he were on the Ducati,i doubt he would have lost a race this year.If there was another Yamaha doing anything, i could see your point.

And what the .... is up with Fabrizio always inserting himself into others victory celebration. He seems to be quite the attention whore. I have seen him do this numerous times this year,Sticking his head in front of the camera while someone else is being interviewed ,making goofy faces to draw attention to himself and today pulling up and blocking Spies while Spies is doing his victory burnout.

Any news on Haga ? i heard he broke a vertebra

Altho he did walk away but looked in pain.

How lucky was max, runs out of fuel but gave it a shake and made it to the finish

The racing was not as good as some of the previous rounds but it was eventful none the less. Great double by Spies, but I have somewhat conflicted feelings. I wanted to see Spies pull an Edwards---clawing his way into the lead by winning 9 straight. I'm really happy to see him near the front again, but I'm not keen on seeing Nori getting thrashed. I was hoping we might see an epic duel, but it seems unlikely now that Haga has been so badly injured.

Great ride in race 1 by Byrne and even better ride in race 2 by Haslam.

I can't figure out what has happened to Ducati. They were at the pointy end all weekend, but they struggled mightily today.

If Spies can get the double at Brno, I think he will be well on his way.

Any thoughts on who might replace Haga? I can think of someone who might relish the opportunity to have a go at Spies.

What's Kim's number? We need to ring her up and start begging.

They are saying now that the back injury might have been a previous injury and maybe its not as bad as it seems. They do however suspect he has a cracked collarbone and a broken wrist which will requie surgery. Even if he is back on the bike in a month,he would have to be to weak to contend.Thats to bad

Yeah - I forgot about that. What an a pulsating ....... move! I hadn't realized this
was a regularly occurring thing with him.

You never know. Not to be overoptimistic - but I've seen guys break a collarbone
and be racing (not at 100%) two weeks later. I've broken both of mine
(both times at Loudon) and it kept me away from racing for almost a month- but then I'm a .....
that way. Broken (possibly only fractured) vertebrae are not always as serious as they sound. I broke
four and didn't even know it (all my concentration was on the pain from a
broken hip) until 6 months later when I had a check-up. Haga's broken wrist
is likely to be his biggest issue. But he's a tough old guy. Still this has to be the
end of his chances for the championship - and that is ....... sad because
as far as I'm concerned - I'd have been happy to see either him or Spies win it.

He isn't the only italian who butts in on photo ops and post-race activities.

I like Fabrizio. He's tough and doesn't seem to care who he's racing against. Loved how he battled with Biaggi and Xaus last year.

I've been torn all year between wanting Haga to finally win the title and wanting Spies to do it in his rookie season. It has been frustrating seeing Spies have some crashes and the mechanical problems after being very consistent in the AMA, but I would have preferred to see Spies battling with Haga to gain points than see Haga go down in what looked like a very nasty fall. This could well be the weekend that decided the championship.

An update on Haga:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>Good news for Haga

Good news has emerged from the Derby Royal Infirmary regarding the condition of Ducati Xerox rider Noriyuki Haga. A further CT scan on the Japanese rider revealed that what were thought to be fractures of the T8 and T9 vertebrae could actually be the remains of a previous incident. This immediately brought a halt to the scheduled operation. "This is good news" declared team manager Davide Tardozzi, "but of course it needs to be confirmed tomorrow, Monday. Nori will for sure undergo an operation on the ulna bone of his right forearm, because it is a displaced fracture and there is also a suspected fracture of the scapula (shoulder blade) bone. It is clear however that if he really doesn't need to have an operation to the vertebrae he could get away with a month's rest.

I'm not sure he did run out of fuel Rog - it certainly looked that way at the time, but the bike died for some reason, maybe electrical..dunno. Anyway, he completed his slow down lap, so it was unlikely fuel
