NO i dont think stoner chocked because of the pressure from rossi, it could have been anything even 1 drop of oil or a leaf on the track we will never know, he fell off cos i think he wanted or thought he could have gone faster...but i dont believe rossi pressuring made it happen.

this could happen to rossi in the next race so i wont be writing stoner off at all.

Regardless of whether it was him pushing too hard trying to break away or it was a mental lapse, it's a choke. He knew he needed to get out front and run and take as many points away from Valentino as possible, and he knew to do that he needed to win. The end result was him pitching it down the road.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Val_46 @ Aug 19 2008, 08:25 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>agreed. it's not a bad thing........................unless you're CS

It's a bad thing for anyone, and that includes Valentino Rossi at Valencia 2006. As I recall he actually held the points lead at that race and managed to lose the front.

I know it's all in good fun lads, but keep throwing the .... around and eventually it's going to get in your mouth.

Even if he finished second to Rossi it would have only been a loss of 5 points so why would he risk everything and fall for only that? 5 points 7 races from the end doesn't put him much farther behind at this stage so where is the huge pressure coming from? It isn't like he was in 8th and Rossi was leading. Just .... luck I say.

Choke: fail to perform adequately due to tension or agitation

This, in my opinion is the case of almost ANY performance which is below expectations.

He surely didn't choke. He was sick the whole weekend and you can surely say that had to affect him as he rode. I just think he lost the front end. .... Rossi did that at what Sachenring trying to overtake Depuniet? So he didn't choke he just ...... up. Point is that he crashed. He didn't choke and it was way to early to say that Vale would absolutely catch up cause we really will nver know. The gap was being managed and Casey could have been playing his mind games as well to lull Vale into a false sence of security as though he was catching up then he could put on the burners and run some quick laps since he was faster than him in qualifing. So look some of you will defend Rossi and give him a verbal ....... saying he would have caught him then passed him like he was greased lightning and some will be even keeled and say we just can't say cause we didn't get the chance to see it happen on way or the other.

YEah well Rossi has done the choke not only in 06 but his butt buddy Uccio likes when he chokes on his ..... lol

If you have over +1 second lead and you drop the front, it means you choked.

In fact, it's pretty much the textbook definition of choking.

It doesn't matter if Valentino or Marco was behind him.

EDIT: I'll add this clarification - If Stoner was 1.2 seconds behind Rossi and trying to catch him when he fell, that's not so much a choke. But yeah, dropping the bike with a +1 lead? Heimlich maneuver time.

Why must you go on and on. Who ...... cares he crashed. I don't think he choked cause if he did he would have been running alot faster than what he was. When you watch the overhead it looks like he just lost the front. He didn't run it wide and push the .... out of it he just lost the front. SO he crashed. I hope ...... ROssi does that .... again like in 06 for the next few races so I can sit here and tell you he crashed cause Uccio had his .... up his ... so he couldn't lean off the bike properly cause he got trunk butt. Jeez.

Man you have such a cunning comeback. Holy .... you should be on the kings of comedy tour replacing Bernie Mac.

Only person choking here is Adriana. I wonder if she even flinched when her man went down this time.

Yea, rossi suffered the embarassment of chocking at the hands of Randy De Puniet

depends on your definition of choke, but if you ask me. kinda, ya.

choking (to me) means you HAVE to do something, and you don't get it done.

now, in some instances it's a straight up bone headed move that defines choking better. like throwing a football to someone who is wide open for the touchdown to tie/win the game, and you hit their foot, with no pressure from the defense.

casey, well probably more of 'a .... happens' move, BUT he still failed to do what he needed to do. which was finish in front of rossi at every race.
