Did anyone feel sorry for Sete??

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>It always surprises me how such stereotypes are taken as gospel. It’s always the first thing Europeans tend to throw out to us. I don’t recall any Americans on this site making generalizations at the members of other countries. You can go ahead an believe the image that channels like MTV care to portray of a dysfunctional way of life but you must realize that everyone here is just a different as the population of the rest of the world.

now you're making a big generalization...

I realy do understand both sides here. I also always feel/feld a bit negative about the americans and their 'american way of life'(that's 1 of my shortcommings, I'm a bit judgemental).. But I think it has to do with how our/my countries are reacting on the USA. I give you an example. A couple of weeks a go, I put on the tv to watch the news. First thing I hear is that some kind of newsreader in the USA has died. Very sad for all his relatives, but why do I have to know that!?! That's not world news..I came to conclusion that it is not the americans that I dislike, but my country and policy that are kissing up to america... I do understand what marbles is saying, but that doesn't take away that there are many people who died or lost relatives.I can truly say that I don't dislike all americans, but I do dislike my own policy!I always learnd at school that the dutch are seen like people who are always asking questions and be critical, before they act, that's what I'm missing now over here

and now back to sete! I don't feel sorry for him. It's just another part of racing, all though it always seems that sete is the one that realy has bad karma or something. for that, I do feel sorry for him, but otherwise, no... it could have happend to anyone in racing...

I love all of you no matter where you are from and we all have one thing in common...we live and breathe Moto GP!

So back to the Sete issue!...well initially I did wet my pants laughing to start with and I though about how his poor little umpa lumpah face must have looked and well...I laughed a bit more!.....but then yeah I did feel sorry for him as he is the only rider who can take it to Vale and he does ride that bike pretty damn well wouldnt you say...its just that I don't want him to win a race..second yeah ok, but while Vale is there, no way!...so hey peeps thats the way I feel about Sete's bad luck on Sunday!

<
to you all

AHAHA You did catch me....
<

If you notice I changed it but you must have already quoted me.....my mistake.
<

For the record A LOT of Americans DO NOT agree with our own policy. I would go into it but as it has been said this is a MotoGp forum.

I appologize for taking it further off topic.

As I said before I do feel bad for Sete he was giving such a fight. It is just horrible luck that a bike that has been so fairly reliable as the Honda was to poop out on him so close to the end of the race.

I'm gonna clear the air.

Poor Gibs, he's had a tough two races in the past month blowing a win and a 2nd. Do I feel sorry for him? Maybe a little bit but not because of the race, he has all season to find that win on the Honda. I feel bad for him because he will probably have to ride the Duc in 2006... or else ride a satelite Honda for loads less money.

sorry for sete?
to quote julian ryder (i think) "you win as a team you lose as a team"

the last time sete passed vale i think it was 3 laps from the finish it looked to me like vale let him through even randy mamola said he would like to see the throttle telemitry for that corner

the trouble with you 'yanks' is
<
you all drive on the wrong side of the road
<

Just for you arryace I'm going to give the left side of the road a shot. Wish me luck.

i can see it now Ooost. you driving on the left side into oncoming traffic. you get home and you see on the news that a man was driving on the wrong side of the road. and you state "there wasnt just one, there were hundreds of them!!"

haha only kidding

Sorry if I upset anyone, remind me never to mention Sete’s name ever again (see the trouble you cause Sete), also guys no ones perfect (except Vale)
<

Ok well if Ooost you’re giving the left side a go, I might try the right!!! Actually before I do that I should change my car to left hand drive.
<

Oh and one other thing for all you Americans the letter Z is pronounced Zed not Zee, and Marbles the number 6 is six not ... (Aus / Kiwi joke)
<
<

Love all you guys
<

Not a problem Kath, not upset one bit.

On a side note, when driving today I thought about giving the left lane thing a shot but realized I would have been killed upwards of 100 times. I thought better of it and stuck to the tried and true right.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (voovoo @ Aug 31 2005, 04:13 PM)<div class='quotemain'>Actually Marbles,
I feel bad for all people who suffer from disasters all over the world. Katrina has claimed not only property but lives as well. And yes this is a moto GP forum and when someone asks if I fell sorry for Sete, the answer is still no. The reason I mention Katrina is because the aftermath is still unfolding and many people are still suffering. This disaster hits very close to home for me because I have friends in the area, this is my perspective. Talk about pulling one's head out, who are you to judge me? Inwardly focused? I think not my friend. Please don't lump me into you small ideas of what an American is.

I understand how you feel,Voovoo. The death of children and animals cuts me really deep but unfortunately not everyone shares the same level of caring until it effects them directly....such is life.

spot on drill !

OK ,I actually felt sorry for Sete, seems he is the only one, maybe, who can take it to Vale.Unfortunately he`s had .... luck and a mind that`s not as strong as it should be ala Rossi.Maybe Sete really needs to get away from Honda and rethink his `psyche` for 2006.

Reports in the Spanish press indicate that Telefonica Movistar's looming
withdraw from MotoGP could also mean that Sete Gibernau leaves Honda for Ducati
next season.

The Spanish telecommunications giant are upset at losing Dani Pedrosa to Repsol
Honda next season, having backed the Spaniard from almost his first laps on a
racing motorcycle, and are set to put all their efforts behind Renault F1 driver
Fernando Alonso - now expected to become the first ever Spanish Formula One
World Champion.

With Gibernau's contract being with Telefonica, and not Honda, the double MotoGP
runner-up would either need the backing of Fausto Gresini's new 2006 sponsor or
for HRC to step in with a deal to keep him on an RCV.

But with Nicky Hayden and Pedrosa already signed to HRC for 2006 - and current
factory rider Max Biaggi an 'unknown' - Gibernau's chances of a direct Honda
contract appear limited.

Meanwhile Altadis, current backers of the two Yamaha teams through their
Gauloises and Fortuna brands, are tipped to ditch Yamaha if - as rumoured -
Valentino Rossi sets up a one man team next season, with backing from his own
sponsors.

If that happens Altadis are expected to move their money to Gresini, where they
would apparently place current Fortuna Yamaha rider Toni Elias alongside current
Gresini pilot Marco Melandri.

According to Spanish sportspaper AS, it is against this backdrop that Ducati,
who reportedly tried to sign Gibernau last season, have made a new 4-million
euro offer to place Gibernau alongside Loris Capirossi - although the Italian,
like current team-mate Carlos Checa, is yet to sign for 2006.

The 'paper adds that, unlike with Honda and Michelin, Gibernau could count on
the full backing of the Italian factory and their tyre supplier, Bridgestone,
while keeping his relatively high paypacket. If he stayed at Honda next year,
without Telefonica support, his wage is predicted to plummet.

Gibernau has again been Rossi's most consistent challenger this season, but has
suffered a disastrous run of luck with four costly DNFs - and zero race wins -
leaving him just fifth in the current world championships standings, with six
rounds to go.

But, despite Gibernau and Biaggi's uncertain future, HRC selected the pair to
test the new RCV for the first time at Brno yesterday (lower pic).

Sete only completed 4 laps on the new bike as he concentrated on solving the
fuel supply problems that robbed him of a certain second place on Sunday, but
Biaggi totalled 20 laps and stated that the machine had 'lots of potential' (see
seperate story).

Gibernau and Biaggi could give the 'evo' machine its race debut as early as the
Japanese Grand Prix, at Motegi, next time out on September 18.
