can rossi take the title this year?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (HAGA46 @ Apr 4 2008, 01:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>im a huge ROSSI fan,but can the yamaha deliver??
The Yamaha is NOT the issue on this one. And to answer your first question: YES.

(welcome to the forum)

Yes Rossi, Yamaha, and Bridgestone together can deliver.

But so can:

Stoner, Ducati, Bridgestone
Pedrosa, Honda, Michelin
Lorenzo, Yamaha, Michelin
etc. etc.

Lets enjoy the season, and hope its a close one with several riders on the podium at different times and not another run away like last year or in years past.

I hope Valentino can do it. I still think he's good enough, and after losing out two years in a row, I think he's even more eager. Stoner didn't perform well last weekend, but I still see him as the top favourite. Rossi did a great job on the stones last race, and if he keeps improving on his new tyres, he should be able to challenge for the title. He's good enough, his bike seems to be good enough too. I think it's going to be really interesting this year.

I hope that he crashes out in the last race to lose the title

That would be classic.

Maybe his rookie Spanish teammate can submarine him in the second-to-last race to take away his championship lead and make it come down to the last race.

One never wishes anybody to crash in this sport! - not even as a joke

rossi is more than capable of winning the championship but he has some very stiff competition. he cant sit around or bugger off rally driving this year if he wants the title, 100% focus needed this year more than previous seasons imo.

Oh please, spare me the lecture.

Besides it was a joke, that was what the emotican was used for.

100% true.
I expect Honda to challenge VERY strongly this year with their new bike and Pedro on Michelin Pedro-tyres. What we have seen in the first 2 races is just the beginning. They have not used the pneumatic engine yet!
<

Lorenzo will be another very privileged Michelin user and will do anything to beat Pedrosa, but he's still a rookie. If he manages to remain at the top in the next 4 races, then we'll have a Pedrosa-Lorenzo Spanish battleship sailing through the season

Stoner and Rossi are going to find themselves in the same boat trying to keep up with that Spanish battleship... They will have to pray their bikes can keep up with Honda, and Bridgestone keep up with Michelin, and then they'll have to use ALL their superior skills (they are the two best MotoGP riders in activity IMO) to stay at the top, and be able challenge for the title this year.

So it will be a battle among 3 or 4 men, using 3 different bikes and 2 different tyres, and undoubtely Rossi is going to have a good chance for the title.
But he's not the favourite... For the first time since 2001 he's only 'one' of the main contenders.
