Well, Crutchlow did what we never thought he would do: win a grand prix instead of the crash competition.

First British rider to win a race at the top since Barry Sheene in 1981. Did not realize it was that long. Congrats to Cal, he was given the chance, and made the most of it. I was not sure he wouldn't crash, but hell of a ride by Cal. Nice to see LCR finally get that missing race win, and thank god since it was weird to see Marc VDS get a win before LCR.

MM did exactly what he needed to, grabbing that last podium spot was big for his title hope. Rossi rode very well, and didn't let the bad start affect the whole race.

Very nice to see Loris Baz get a 4th place finish.

That hard/hard selection is really incredible where it looked like a number of guys were out of contention, then as soon as the tire activated, it was like a like switch was turned on.

I think only Crutchlow and Baz went hard:hard.

If Marquez was on softs he did incredibly well to last the race, although all credit to those who beat him for out thinking him as well as riding so well and not panicking early.

Ducati would still seem to have a problem with destroying soft tyres whatever the variety.

What a ..... I rewound that because I couldn't believe I heard that right.

Wimps? Christ dude, get over yourself. You got it right for a wet weather race, be happy with that.

He said something similar last time he got on the podium. As soon as he gets success and I start to feel happy for him, he opens his mouth.

Yeah but this was worse given he actually won.

Talk about pissing on his own parade.

Rossi went hard/hard I thought?

MM managed the race perfectly, never bothered pushing, and why should he have? It got Iannone off the podium.

Kudos Cal and LCR
Rossi showed his experience again
MM aiming only for title now.

JLo was crap end to end, and getting in the middle of the leaders was poor form for a supposed great sportsman

Congrats to Cal, he had the tires, motivation, and skill set.

He seemed disappointed by the feeling of winning the race compared to having a kid...nothing wrong with thinking that, but if I was a team member, I would be a little disappointed by that. Some .... doesn't need to be said.

It was tongue in cheek, Brit humour, you won't hear any complaints from the riders.

The coverage on FOX here which is basically the motogp.com commentary/Nick Harris et al said soft front:hard rear, which doesn't make it fact of course.

Nah, Rossi went soft/hard.

I'm waiting to Lorenzo to explain why he pitted the first time.

I said a crazy decision at the time, and it was apparently against the advice of his team. He was actually doing quite well.

I kind of lost track but wasn't Lorenzo running around 10th when he decided to play crew chief?

Yup he was right around there. There was no reason to change bikes. It wasn't like the Sachsenring where the dry line really came in. It only ever showed in parts of the circuit today. Inexplicably bad decision.

Right, at the time Lorenzo had a good pace and was moving up through the field. I'm not sure why he would think it was a good time to switch to slicks. His team tried to stop him from taking his 2nd bike with the dry setup, but he did it anyway. Then of course he had to pit again when he realized the track wasn't dry enough for slicks.

Pitted from 10th position and lost second in the championship for doing so. He'll probably regain it next weekend as the forecast is for a sunny bank holiday unusually.
