With the news yesterday that Fausto Gresini was talking to Max Biaggi about riding in MotoGP, after the Roman Emperor had failed to agree terms with the Alstare Suzuki World Superbike team, the only question was whether Honda would be gracious, or perhaps desperate enough to allow Biaggi to race a Honda again.
According to Motorcycle News, the answer is no. As predicted by many people, HRC will refuse to supply bikes for Biaggi, the fallout from a huge row and acrimonious split up at the end of the 2005 MotoGP season.
This leaves Biaggi with two realistic options to race for 2008. One would be the still vacant seat at Pramac d'Antin Ducati, a move which Ducati might like to see, but which is going to be hard to achieve due to Biaggi's salary demands and demands for competitive equipment. The other is the factory Kawasaki seat in World Superbikes, a move which would be equally difficult for the Roman, for the same reasons as the d'Antin ride in MotoGP. He may yet be forced to settle for less if he wants to be racing in 2008.
