BBC got the live rights almost by accident. They ended up with the package by default. When it was announced in 2008 I posted a series of doom laden threads predicting how farcical things would be - as pessimistic as I was I never anticipated the truly dreadful and abject awfulness of Jenny Gow. Things have improved - marginally - but the BBC has no loyalty or real affiliation with the sport which is why I love Eurosport. The British Eurosport coverage makes no concession to the first timer but because of that is a steep learning curve which very quickly rewards the viewer. BBC pitched itself as an idiots guide to Moto GP as part of the mainstream marketing plan to attract new audiences. Problem with that is that they rarely endure. Such a shame - BBC Sport was once so revered.

Shut up arrab you aussie turd lover. Genny gow is not only a babe she is from Southampton and on my facebook. You sir clearly have no clue what you're on about.

I recall races on BBCi that had already started, 5 laps and more into the race, before BBC turned on the live feed! This happened several times and was always the first race of the day, combine that with the two dullards Emmett and Harris, made me dislike BBC coverage for that fact. Laguna Seca coverage has been piss poor for the last three or four years. I've already made my feelings known about Cox, but I have no problem with the rest of the team.

When the BBC only showed MotoGP, I had ES coverage recorded for 125/250 races and this is when I began to like their coverage over anything broadcast via BBC. The only thing that used to irritate me was Mamola in pitlane, cutting into Ryder and Moodie's commentary, "Guys, guys, what was Rossi's lap time?" "What was Hayden's lap time?" etc etc. There were times in Mamola's last season with ES when his interruptions were completely ignored, sometimes I swear they would turn off his mic. Ryder has been making some big gaffs this season, but then that is what happens when you get excited during live commentary and your mouth gets ahead of the brain (he's not the only one.) Burnicle and Whitham are funny,

But, I have to say that we have it lucky, compared to speed tv. I used to download AMA races, watch four laps, adverts for three/four minutes, watch another 4 laps, adverts again (repeat for entire race)

This is a bit of a laugh... apart from Oz (who do motorsport very well), there's no other national broadcaster I have found that can hold a candle to the Beeb - and all for 40p a day.

Sure they have their moments, but considering they don't have anywhere near the budget for sport that Eurosport or Sky has, they do a pretty god job.

You complainers are all spoiled. It's not football!

Right, I'm having a look.

This is more up your street - but you'll have to get Cliche or Passi to help you with your German....

Look what the BBC have done to F1!! I mean half the races in a season on delayed highlights only, it's a joke I tell you. Didn't realise they were that bad on motogp, haven't watched enough yet, looks like more frustration for me to come then. sighs

I hope its not the Thames that the BBC has sold you guys up!!

cos according to Rog. ....... the thames is full of sewerage!!

I thought the coverage was good for the race last weekend, I mean they had to put the podium on the red button but I assume that was due to the false start making it run longer than normal. I enjoyed the commentary and I thought Matt Roberts did a good job on the grid talking to the riders. All in all, I was pleased with what I saw.

pre race stuff is good on bbc mostly, but i highly recommend you watch the british eurosport coverage.its definately the best there is and what i record for my motogp race collection

Do you get the German coverage by default with The Hoff and Klaus Nohles? How do you access Toby and Julian?

I don't have the Eurosport channel so I have to 'enjoy' the BBC coverage.

Eurosport is the best introduction to the sport because it makes no concession to the noob. It is a steep learning curve - you learn very little from Charlie Cox other than the fact that he's a knob

its the hoff and edgar mielke , theyre really great (maybe eveb better than toby and julian) and the coverage all in all is just perfect.informative, funny and (listen up jumkie) they don't make a secret out of the current bike situation. when i can watch live i always tune in. the german eurosport guys (leberkern and dirk raudies) are a good bunch too, problem is though that its only wsbk race 1 and wss live, wsbk race 2 typically at some impossible time monday morning so i get wsbk race 2 from british eurosport too.don't mind burnicle, whitham is a really good guy imo

problem is i don't get a very good tv signal to just record the stuff myself, so a 720p eurosport race coverage with toby and julian is the next best thing to add to my colllection.

i get the stuff from various sites and streams if i don't have access to a tv.

still, i'd love an invite for that one special place for which i lost my password sometime ago when it used to be called differently

edit: forgot to add, buddy of mine gets the digital hd signal where you can switch commentary, but theres nothing much to choose between raudies and whitham imo. motogp is exclusively on sport1 , and i strongly recommend that if you can speak german to watch that, the insights the hoff gives (especially on being a ducati rider) are the best .

+ everything except free practice 1 is on live

German SD Quality TV is as good as UK HD LOL IMO and its free and you dont have to pay the UK man a Monthly fee either to have it

there are Brit Eurosport streams out there

i watch Sport1 a good bit even though i dont speak/understand German

and late at night you can always watch Sport Clips too on there

bike racing and the sport clips, what else does a man need?

if you get digital signal its great, but in my own flat i only get analog cable and that is no better than a 360p youtube vid. good enough for watching, but not worthy of being recorded onto a harddrive/dvd for the collection if theres toby and jules in hd out there!
