<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Er, where to start:
1/ Dumbed down, diluted, asinine coverage and unlike Eurosport which made no concessions for the first time viewer, assumes each time you tune in it's for the first time. This is wholly in line with the current Dorna strategy to bring the product to the masses, and expand the commercial frontiers of Moto GP at the expense of the depth and quality of the coverage.
2/ Can't Sky Plus qualifying and 2 stroke races and fly away races on interactive
3/ A feature on Rossi and a career resumé/review every 2-3 weeks
4/ Steve Parrish, Charlie Cox and Matt Roberts don't know .....
5/ Nick Harris in his official Dorna capacity commentates on the 2 stroke races...marvelous that!
6/ A tiresome propensity to use Muse every six seconds as a soundtrack (see all BBC sport)
7/ Suzi rarely ever talks to anyone other than JT or Colin on the grid.
8/ They are still new to this GP lark, and it's as if after years of covering Superbikes they're still minnows lost in a very large ocean. Eurosport were a resident initiated part of the paddock, BBC are not.
9/ A complete lack of passion or enthusiasm combined with a total lack of insight renders the
commentary utterly pointless.
10/ Very little attention or acknowledgement ever given to the history of the sport. The other week they did briefly mention some chap called Mike Hailwood though.
11/ Eurosport seldom compromised their Live coverage of a GP weekend...bike racing WILL NOT be a priority for BBC sport as it was for Eurosport.
12/ The loss of Toby and Jules, Neil Spalding and Randy.
13/ 5 year deal maybe, but they'll never get the range of summarizers that Eurosport enticed into the commentary box while those clowns Parrish and Cox are running the show.
14/ Rubbish pre-show, crap build up.
The
only plus point that I can possibly see from this is the fat that the racing won't be constantly interrupted at key points by those Wudy hot dog commercials, Del Pierro and his ...... Bergmann and adverts from the Croatian tourist board; but being as I used to flick over to the beeb during the commercial breaks anyway, I'm not really gaining anything.
Couldn't be arsed to rewrite the same points - it's been innumerable times this year, so here's the same reply I gave to that question last July.
You want contrived pre-conceived commentary? then you'll be fine with Parrish an ....; otherwise 'You Tube' Sheeney's Channel Nine and Network Ten moments with Gardner and Leigh Diffy, which Parish is desperate to emulate with Cox, and you'll see how it should be done - real spontaneity - or instead simply mourn the loss of Toby and Jules.
