20 posts in, and no-one's complained about the ....... spoiler in this thread! I would've thought one individual in particular--who's always been extremely zealous about the posting of Moto2 or Moto3 spoilers in the MotoGP RACE thread--would've have been all over this. Oh... wait, look who posted this here spoiler.

Still, Chops, I am sorry to hear that you missed hearing the Spanish anthem and watching your fellow countryman indulge in a bit of public, group mock-masturbation over a couple of fembots.

Ah, the BBC team. Matt Roberts is ok. Azi has definitely been a very pleasant suprise, knows her stuff, has an excellent relationship with most of the riders. Never thought they'd find a worthy replacement for Suzy Perry but they've managed it.

However, I have an undying, deep, pitch-black spot of eternal, burning hatred in my heart, reserved especially for the subhuman abominations that are Charlie Cox and Steve Parrish. Being skinned alive and thrown in a pot of boiling oil would not be punishment enough for the horror that those worthless bags of flesh have unleashed on me over the years. Dicks.

All i said was a British rider on the podium, didn't even say what race let alone who won ! besides looking at the threads and response by the new type of members that post here now, know one gives a .... about spoilers any more. It would actually seem it was you that gave away the spoiler !

You have a point...but i would say that you should just not go on this site until u see the race....I do. .... i don't go on facebook, check my email..check my phone..nothing

I used to think Moody was ok 'and when they had Randy they had one who knew what he was on about .But Ryder he is a joke makes more mistakes than the whole team 'talks utter rubbish 'thank god he has stopped going on about stoner every 2 mins .I would watch BBC every time over eurosport while while these 2 work there

My thought exactly. moody, spalding and randy was great. Ryder is a fanboy tool who shamelessly switches his support to who ever is the flavor of the year. He is like an old woman when putting his opinions across. He is like the oral version of MCN.

I thought the same thing, but the cognoscenti came down like a ton of bricks on that idea - apparently it is like the Yalta Accord of Powerslide... worked out years ago by some old ..... and foist on us in perpetuity...

Don't try and bring logic here...

Don't try and bring logic here...
Well I'd say it is both logical to avoid what you don't want to see (I'm currently avoiding the BSB thread until I see the second race) and logical to politely avoid posting spoilers on non-race threads. Politeness is logical but apparently some members fail to grasp that.

Ha! A British rider on a podium for the first time in twelve years... what other race could you have been talking about?
<

Mentioning 'Hearing the Spanish anthem' on a GP weekend isn't a spoiler--it's a certainty (there you go, Jumkie, something else you can rail against
<
). It's also a moot point after a thread called 'Has your view on Dani changed after his Brno win?' has been posted.

I agree with you; just having some fun with the anti-spoiler cheerleader who posted a spoiler! There's always a few races in a season that I don't manage to catch live, and I always stay away from MotoGP-related sites until I can watch them. I'm all for spoiler etiquette, but giving away race results shouldn't be a hanging offence (when not done maliciously).

Well there all just background noise tbh, i much prefer moody ryder, spalding wont watch beeb, i also like jack and jim tho i know there not too popular.

BBC Commentery is .... at best.

What pisses me off the most is that they miss all the action i.e overtakes and incidents.

They get all the names of riders and bikes wrong.

They talk more about themselves then the racing.

And last weekend to cap it off they decided that during the MotoGp Race to announce who won the Moto2 race!! which doesnt go out live!!!!

sli-woody must say you do have a point often watch motogp on BBC as have already said find commentary on eurosport painful 'do however wish they would not tell us who won moto2 moto3 as that is often recorded to watch later

I live in the US so idk about his commentary, but what annoys me about Steve Parrish's articles on BBC is that he needs to make a point of sucking casey stoners .... every other sentence ....like we get it man u think hes great...very biased

I don't think Parrish is biased, he makes sure he sucks everyone's .....

And the reply. I note there is no mention of the BBC presenter telling viewers to switch over to the red button for motogp extra that's wasn't on the red button.

Dear Mr Maidment

Reference CAS...................-...........

Thanks for contacting us regarding BBC Two's 'MotoGP'.

I understand you're unhappy that the coverage of this event switched to the BBC Red Button service before the podium presentation took place.

Our MotoGP coverage on Sunday 26 August 2012 on BBC Two ran as advertised to its scheduled finish time of 2pm in order to allow us to then switch across to the Birmingham Grand Prix Athletics scheduled from 2pm, also as advertised.

We’re of course very sorry to learn that you feel we should have extended the MotoGP programme to accommodate the podium ceremony, but we had reached the end of the advertised timeslot and we had other commitments. Whilst we weren’t able to stay on after the race, the key point is that we had shown the final result of the race itself and all the action therein.

Further MotoGP coverage was not scheduled to appear on Freeview’s Red Button because this was already scheduled to show live triathlon coverage at that time, as advertised.

We regret that on this occasion you felt the need to complain and I'd like to assure you that I've registered your complaint on our audience log. This is a daily report of audience feedback that's made available to all BBC staff, including members of the BBC Executive Board, programme makers, channel controllers and other senior managers.

The audience logs are seen as important documents that can help shape decisions about future programming and content.

Thanks again for taking the time to contact us.

Kind Regards

So basically she averted the point of complaint which is in fact the lack of podium ceremony by stating that the programme was shown as advertised. I would have thought the podium ceremony is a vital part of the show but in this case the BBC clearly feels that the athletics and triathlon are more important. In which case why even show MotoGP at all?

Just shows how in touch with the audience the bbc isn't. The athletics show they were screening instead was postponed anyway which was the first point of my complaint. The second point was the presenter told the audience to switch over to see the podiums. She ignored both these points. I think i will follow up this complaint and give them a head ache as goatboy suggests.

BBC got the live rights almost by accident. They ended up with the package by default. When it was announced in 2008 I posted a series of doom laden threads predicting how farcical things would be - as pessimistic as I was I never anticipated the truly dreadful and abject awfulness of Jenny Gow. Things have improved - marginally - but the BBC has no loyalty or real affiliation with the sport which is why I love Eurosport. The British Eurosport coverage makes no concession to the first timer but because of that is a steep learning curve which very quickly rewards the viewer. BBC pitched itself as an idiots guide to Moto GP as part of the mainstream marketing plan to attract new audiences. Problem with that is that they rarely endure. Such a shame - BBC Sport was once so revered.
