i think its rather his competition is getting too fast. the level of riding has been taken to new extremes in the past few years, its just a shame we don't have stoner and (at least for the occasional moment of brilliance) guys like simoncelli or even spies/hayden on competitive machinery.

that being said, this is some super impressive stuff by marquez, even though you can't read too much into the times set for now, as a rookie  lapping considerably faster than his teammate, the champion and rossi on a yamaha on a track thats new to all of them is an amazing achievement

I think you've probably got it there. I think the tracks where he knows the ins and the outs he'll be competitive but certainly not a favorite. At cota the young uns just have that raw speed. And yes, MM impresses more and more each day. JLo and Pedrosa must be crapping themselves, I imagine they, along with most others, figured they had at least a year before MM was a threat.

That is the sad truth all athletes have to face isn't it? No matter how good you are there's always going to be someone younger and faster coming up behind you who will take your spot if you're not careful. Doesn't make a difference how good you once were, you get older and ultimately slower it seems.

Im sure most people thought MM would be a "threat". ;)

Update: riders on track. Conditions cool. Murder Marc on top of the pile again. 2.05 and change.

(i imagine only reason he could make out who it is was because the rider was going so slow).

Everybody figured he would be a threat to win races. I think it must be dawning on people he is a threat to win a WC. Big jump in my mind.I'm not trying to speak for anybody, this is just the concesis I've gathered over the last six months. Look at the MM pole/thread. Maybe it's just what I've been thinking.

I was trying to be funny when I said "threat".  Swoosh...

Anyway, check this out.  Just stupid.  But at least Alpinestars looks like they improved his leathers and placed in a nice little protective puck.  Move over "Elbows", there is a new 'Elbows' sheriff in town.

maybe... but i also  think rossi just isnt as fearless as he used to be.  Maybe that comes with his age.

Excellent!  This guy deserves the money I sent to motogp-vidpass rippoff.  6 minutes of pure awesome.  He even got a shot of the CRT out there.

Ha! I really shouldn't post the first hour I'm awake. Things are far too literal...

Oh yeah, the kid is sick.

Despite it being a counter clockwise American track, it sure has a lot of right handers.

Asked about finding his way around the new circuit, Marquez confided that he was being careful not to show the others his best lines.   motomatters

Question: When was the last time a snot nosed rookie topped the testing times in two consecutive days in the dry?

Has it ever happened??

Times as of 16.00 - 1.Mar 2'03.853 - 2.Bra 2'04.640 - 3.Lor 2'04.664 4.Ped 2'04.686 5.Ros 2'05.375

Poor Pedrosa.  He was probably so happy to get rid of Stoner, only to find his teammate may again be the fastest on the planet.

I'm rooting for Rossi this year, I like the under dog;)

Of course Hayden and Spies.

will the wall be present this season, seeing as how Rossi complemented Jorge and the development on the Yam
