ASSEN GP: Predict, Practice, Qual

How about "cheats never prosper"

Where are you Talps? Skulked off again into the darkness....I was hoping for some major spindoctoring from you regarding Vales mediocre results in QP....something like "its a brand new bike give them time" blah blah blah....how is that .... sandwich tasting?

yes and fuckwits like yourself only come out to abuse.....Woody called it on you very well recently you truly are a trolling cockhead- http://www.powerslide.net/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/.....gif

All is still ok in the Duck garage methinks, the thing performed pretty well in the first couple of sessions and rossi usually ups his game in the race, it certainly is an uphill battle with this machine though. Repsols look off it at present with sic showing the way. Anyone know what the weather is doing for the race?

Everything I have found is showing rain in the afternoon, morning warmup might be dry but still cold.

That's absolutely true... as long as you accept the premise that going backwards is ok.

Once again, it seems now across the board that Rubber is the issue, for Repsol, Ducati and most of Yamaha. Bridgestone is making no effort to provide any sort of decent variation to help sort the 'Heat' issue, now we have more crashes and injuries. Especially when temperatures aren't ideal, Kropo has a great article on Motomatters.

Spies and Sic did great at set up and I'm sure the others would have caught up with more time. The weather isn't making racing any easier this year, that's for sure. At least most of them have a good set up for the wet.

In Spanish TV interview Stoner isn't impressed at all with his race pace, he said they have to find something for the race tonight or they will be in for a rough day tomorrow.

Lorenzo is ABSOLUTELY pissed, he wanted to kill the lady reporter. He was about to blame the bike but he realized on time (more or less) that Spies Was 2nd best on same bike.

Hairball Funny and Happy.

I don't blame him for being pissed, he might have been able to take some points back from Casey.

What do you mean? Rossi two places up on last round.......

Very true and whilst some may think it an attack on Rossi, the fact he is closer after practice should indeed be looked at positively, even if they are totally dissatisfied about it.

The question for me will be how Stoner rides the race given that in reality neither Spies nor Simoncelli are at this stage realistic championship challengers so in all seriousness can be left to run their own races if it were to happen. IMO, Stoner needs to concentrate on beating Lorenzo moreso than beating S&S, although no doubt he would like to win the race, he may need to show discretion given that his race pace seems some distance away.

Now Talps, for you, onto the seriousness of the 11.1.46 (I also like Jumkie's label), I would say that this stage where it qualifies and finishes is irrelevant in the bigger picture as it is a simple 'work in progress' at this point and results are not as crucial as 'how' it gets them. I fully expect Rossi to finish far higher in the race due both to attrition and his innate ability to always find the best result available within the circumstances, be that knee deep in .... or gold plated.

Time will be the judge on whether this incarnation is the bees knees or just the the starting point and whilst there will be good results at some circuits one should expect lesser results at others, but it will provide a head start for 2012.

The "i" word does come to mind again with regard to the start of your post.

However as I think I said after fp3 if rossi was straight on the front row on a bike the 1000cc version of which is just at the point where they usually start 6-8 months of development/sorting, and the 800 version of which he has never been on and even the test riders can hardly have spent any time on he really would be as supra-human as you contend. The important thing is if he feels comfortable with this bike and it has a "feel" he can work with. He seems to take things slower these days anyway even when working with unquestionably good material, it took him a few races to get the 2008 yamaha sorted out with the bridgestones. The other thing is if the ducati 11/1/46 is not looking promising after some quaility time with rossi maybe they still have time to change their design philosophy in a more wholesale fashion and go away from carbon fibre etc for next year, although this would be a problem for the direction of the road bikes, but probably not as big a problem as their demise in motogp because not even valentino rossi could get the gp bike to work.

What I don't get is the Stoner fanboys should be happy Stoner is leading the championship...but instead they're too busy talking about Rossi. Obsessed.

Almost as bad as you guys are in regard to stoner; "vicious gloating" I think was the apt phrase to describe attitudes , obviously not from you personally, during stoner's travails in 2009 when one v. rossi wasn't doing too badly as I recall.

Seeing Rossi using a soft tire at the front trying to qualify just a little better than 15th, tells the whole story. Maybe because the bike is too new, with that peculiar 800cc engine with a 81mm bore, that makes the bike behave differently from the Gp12 1000cc and also from the GP11 800cc; maybe because the temperatures were too low, or because Bridgestone did not bring the right tires, -- or maybe because of a combination of all these factors -- Vale & crew failed to bring the front tire of the GP11.1 to the right temperature in their first qualification effort on the dry, and inevitably suffered.

Does this mean that the GP11.1 is a failure? Too early to say anything like that. Probably the expectation was high, even inside Ducati after weeks of non-stop overtime to make the GP11.1 possible, so such a negative result has come as a shock both for Valentino and the team. Rossi did not try to hide his disappointment when speaking to the journalists. Mugello will show what the real situation is. If it is this bad, then really at Ducati they will have to move "heaven and earth".

Don't know if Simoncelli has learned his lesson yet. Something tells me, he'll be extra anxious to get away right from the start before Stoner can find an advantage and as has been said before, he's bound to smarten up; maybe now's his time. Stoner would do well to ride the tactical race and let him, concentrating on beating Lorenzo. Stoner should let Simo take himself out. It's a risk worth taking as Simo is no threat points-wise.

Lorenzo's no dummy. He'll be wise to keep it shiny side up and get a podium - assuming he gets a better set-up.

Won't be surprised if it's Spies that he's battling with most of the race.

Hopefully this is the Pieman's time to shine on a track he really likes. Barring rain or being taken out by another rider, I think he'll be on the podium. He's due.

Will K. Abraham be top Ducati? Who doubts it?

Will the GP11.1.46 save Rossi? (I know peeps want to blame Ducati, but I heard last year that Lorenzo was riding Rossis bike, so I think its only fair that we can say the PiG11.1.46 is Rossi's)

Good name for the new bike, but I don't think it deserves the "pig" appellation yet, unlike the GPig10 and GPig11.

Difficult conditions with rain washing away rubber from the track, poor grip etc but yet another significant injury, this time to the most experienced rider in the field, and several other falls. They will eventually need to run the bikes remotely from the pits because there will be no riders left to ride them.

There sure are a lot of "maybe becauses" in your post. I have a few of my own:

Maybe because Rossi hasn't given Ducati good development feedback...

Maybe because Rossi hasn't pushed the bike hard enough...(his words not mine)

Maybe because Rossi hasn't made Burgess fix the bike in 80 secs

Maybe because Rossi hasn't got his old advantage on tires...(Ooops, that Dorna's fault)

I think Ducati have been moving heaven and earth, its called the GP11.1.46 (or do you think they just slapped that thing together Thursday?

I just read that when Cappi went down, it kind of ...... up Spies hot lap for pole. Spies response was class

Ben Spies:

“The best qualifying of the year so far, it was a good session for us. We would have liked to get pole position but unfortunately on my fast lap Loris went down and there were a lot of yellow flags. I want to be a little bit upset but I want him to be ok a lot more than I wanted pole position.

Hahaha....and guess what. You were the only person to defend him as several other members here realised his response to my banter was completely over the top and unjustifiable and instantly called him on it - so congratulations...once again you are in the minority.

I see you too have stopped to his level (......., cockhead etc etc). The problem as I see it with the Rossi boppers like yourself is that recently many of them have been taking out their obvious frustrations with Vales performance on other members of the forum...can I suggest an anger management course or perhaps a prescription of anti-psychotics rather than lashing out at people who's opinions differ to your own? I see you are still abusing michaelm who is probably the most diplomatic poster on the entire forum - that says a lot about you. You are without doubt the biggest hypocrite here buddy - time to man up and accept that others have just as much right to their opinions as you do...only most of the other posters here are able to accept reality where as you seem to live on Fantasy Island.
