I've got to applaud AMA in the handling of things thus far. While not the popular or financially sound thing to do (losing your live audience) they are putting safety first. Stopping the 200 and now penalizing a rider for suspect moves is a step in the right direction.

They sure are by putting a bunch of hot headed red blooded from the South Americans running 200mph on a banking oval. I bet they haven't even tested the tires to make sure they can withstand the load on the tires due to the banking of the track. AMA is a joke.

I'm sure of our old buddy Roger E was in charge, we would have got no such debrief.

While Roger Edmondson was no doubt detrimental to the sport as a manager of day to day operations, we would have gotten the same candid response from him. The debrief wouldn't have been a awkward (but professional) mixture of business writing and artistic prose; instead, we would have gotten another 3-part tell-all interview from the people at RRW. I know a 3-part tell-all from RRW is probably not want you want b/c JU is on your naughty list, but it would have been even more revealing (albeit much less professional) than the Daytona 200 debrief provided under Atlas' management team.

Let's also not forget that these responsibilities would also have fallen to Syfan, Fraser, and Wardell in 2009. All of them were dismissed, along with Edmondson, at the end of the 2009 season.

Also interesting food for thought: The series has made drastic improvements now that Jim France has become more actively involved in the operations of DMG (or at least the rumors indicate that he is actively involved and ultimately responsible for the regime change at the end of 2009). No one at DMG is more NASCAR than Jim France. AMA is improving as it gets closer to NASCAR personnel.

I doubt that direct involvement is good for AMA in the long run, but it is an interesting development.

Hey Guys as Jumkie said Im usually stuck at work for 15-18 hours a day so i don't really get time to post as much as i would like too! i really want to thank everyone who helped out with the fundraiser too. Benny is a very special kid and comes from an excellent family that now a days is not that easy to come by. I Will do whatever I can to help this kid and his racing career, regardless of where it takes him. Thanks again to everyone who helped.

Now those crashes during the 200 were gnarly as hell, luckily everyone walked away from them

SS56 I usually don't agree with you but i laughed my ... off with your comment about the "hot headed South Americans" Being that I almost got killed by a pack of wild colombians at a night club in downtown LA a few years back I know a little bit about that.

I was just digging through some stats when I realized that Young's 1:37.560 in SBK Race 2 is just .014 off of the circuit record of 1:37.546 set by Ben Spies in 2007.

The track has been repaved, but that's still pretty good for "Superstock" motorcycles.

awesom! glad it all worked out. thanks for the pics jumk.
