<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>It wasnt JUST because of the Buell, but it was a BIG part of it. Remember last year, Eslick dominated Fontana with double wins, building a 7+ second lead and used the last lap as a victory lap with smokey exits from turns and wheelies in between. This year, he got 2 second place finishes. Also, dont forget their is no Honda or Kawasaki in the mix this year. Its a pretty watered down field. Danny is a good rider, but not as good as the Buell made him look. Have you seen pictures of Eslick this year compared to last. He has gone on a crash diet to ride the 600's. When you lose 30 hp and 40 ftlbs of torque, you have to make adjustments.I like him, he seems like a great kid but his title will always be tainted to me.
I agree with you Povol, as I said sometime last year, before the season was over, if Eslick was to win the title on the Buell there would be plenty of people that would consider it a ......../cheater title. The whole season was a seriously messed up experiment. One things for sure, he doesn't have the incredible advantage he had last year to go zooming past 2-3 front pack riders at a time with ease. I think he's a good guy, he has shown he can run at the front without his cheater bike, but he is going to have his work cut out for him if he wants to win the title this year.
The DSB class is looking more like the old 600 class. So far it looks like the class should be pretty competitive all year. We know Herrin means business, but if Cardenas gets his random crashing figured out, Aquino gets back to speed, mix in Rapp, and if Westby can show that speed all year, it could be tight. One things for sure, I am happy to see no more ........ rolling starts (that .... drove me nuts watching it every time last year). Last season when they announced that the AMA wasn't going to race at the WSBK Miller event weekend I could give a .... less. This year, I really wish they would be there.
