No, the elevated podium only belongs to Stoner. Actually, if you must know, Rossi was on his knees, at the photographer’s request. Turns out he had issues trying to get them in the same frame.

Oh wait, that picture was taken after Peders race win, so its Pedrosa who is on the elevated step!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (xx CURVE xx @ Apr 10 2008, 06:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>don't be a twit..you know what i mean by normal... Colin, Rossi, Nick, Hopper...not mutants like Pedrosa or lite weight children like some of the riders now....

when we had 500s, and 990s...rider size didn't matter all that much, cause ALL the bikes had more HP than they could handle...it separated the men from the boys.....Now with all the bikes where they are, HP is lacking...it's a disadvantage when you're 2 feet taller and 40 pounds heavier than the other guy.....

Its an interesting point about the physical requirements of the riders, but most physically demanding sports have an ideal physical build. Would you really stop watching a sport because the optimum physique does not suit you/your favorite rider/the shape of man you want to look at?

I think the increasing importance on size, shape and build represents the huge advance in the sport (which can be taken as both positive and negative). In the 50's you could be an F1 world champion even if you were old, fat and drank and smoked on a regular basis. Nowdays Drivers like Kubica are forced to lose 2 stone over the winter to stay competative!! As more and more variables are controlled and calculated every possible advantage needs to be gained, can that progress ever be unmade?

After FINALLY catching the SBK races at Valencia....
(thanks Speed Channel for the prompt coverage,
<
you ....... ........)

I have decided to sell all my Moto GP crap of the 800cc era....AND replace it with SBK stuff
<

It makes me sad to say it...but its true...SBK is sooooo much better racing ever since the change from 990s to 800s.

As a rider and track enthusiast, Moto GP has become unidentifiable to me....in the "old days" the 500s were identifiable with the biggest baddest bikes of the day....Suzuki RG500, Yamaha RZ500, Kawi H1s H2s, etc etc...ALL ANIMALS OF BIKES...

When the 2 strokes got dated, they were replaced by the ALL MIGHTY 990....also a machine i could relate to...Yamaha R1, Honda RR1000, Kawi ZX10, etc etc....all bikes that were WAY more than the average rider could handle, let alone push to the limit.....like our beloved Moto GP machines once were.....It's no longer the spectacle it once was....It no longer has machines that are un-tamable by mere mortals....it's become too tame...too lame....and its a shame....

I will no longer support the sport till the sport becomes a MANS sport once again....not a kids pocket bike parade.....

I'll swap the lot for 500 units of each of the following T Shirts:

<
well outside of club days etc. ..... I'd say its more important with motogp for the exact same reasons it is to get things right or "righter" with those other sports. ....... all motogp riders are aware of their weight ..... but I would also suggest that to have got so far in Moto racing then one does tend to be on the "lighter" side
<

Didn't Stoner comment once that he was so glad when he went to 250's because he could stop dieting .... so yeah as the bikes get bigger the size of the rider tends to increase ...... however ... it has never been a "normal" mans sport
<

Lets go back to what normal is ...... in shirts do you wear a men's "M" .. thats a worldwide normal

not the mid range of XF'nLLLLLLL
<

So anyone that wears anything other a men's M is WHAT??? Fat? hahahahaha.....I could squeeze into a medium when I was 16....but not since! How many guys that are 6'3" amd weigh 220# can fit into a medium anyway????
