I just found it amusing.

Warthog is right Imo, it is a sign of narcissism. Do Valentino and his cronies really think MM has been waiting around all these years wistfully hoping that Valentino will like him one day ?. If ever there has been a guy who gives no ..... about Valentino’s approval that guy is MM.

It is likely he will get on quite well with his actual team-mate, and Gresini seem close to deliriously happy. The factory team are already saying that he shouldn’t expect his Honda salary if they sign him rather than that they would never consider signing a guy whom both Valentino Rossi and Marco Bezzecchi dislike.
People that are in that kind of friendship/worship that Vale's friends are clearly in with him probably can't comprehend someone not liking him and someone not caring if he like them. I find the hero worship (or at least that is what is seems to be from the outside looking in) from those closest to Rossi a bit odd really. Not that Rossi is the only star to have had that kind of entourage. But it is weird every time.
I have always wanted to ask Uccio, if he came home and fond Rossi in bed with his Mrs. Which side of the bed would he jump in?

I don't think Ducati give a flying .... about Rossi other than not wanting to alienate his considerable fan base. Rossi threw Ducati under the bus for 2+ straight years and probably set them back a good 5+ years because of his development direction. That's not that he took them in a bad direction development wise but he demanded a twin bar aluminum frame which was something completely foreign to Ducati at the time, meaning they essentially had to start all over again, further behind the 8ball than the rest of the grid.

Another more recent piece from Gresini regarding MM, acknowledging some in the wider Ducati community don’t like him but that Ducati themselves are likely as I have have also thought not averse to having an 8 time world champion on board. If he wins a 9th title on a Ducati ihe will have won something the 9/7/2 guy who rode for them for a couple of years never did, and having one of the greatest ever win a Ducati title would presumably be appealing to them.

I agree that while Ducati won’t want to piss off Valentino’s fans they have no great reason to love him in general, and they are now a global luxury brand in German ownership rather than the artisanal Italian operation Ducati Corse were in Casey Stoner’s day and prior to him.

That's the crux of it, and Gigi has said as much himself at the past. Sometimes you take a rider, to avoid him being on a rival bike.

According to this article, Ducati have signed Femin Aldeguer from Moto2 for 2025.

Moto2 teen talent Fermin Aldeguer “signs contract” to guarantee ‘25 Ducati MotoGP move

My bet is Pramac. As I have said before, I expect both those seats to be free next yr as Martin has already said he won;t be at Pramac next yr, and Morbidelli is just a stopgap IMO.

Also, looks like Bagnaia renewing with Ducati is a formality. He wants to have a new contract penned before the start of this season.

Francesco Bagnaia close to 2025 contract? “For sure I love Ducati…”

Probably vying for more $ - just to make him feel more important than Marquez . . . until that is, Marquez kicks his ass. Hope this sentiment doesn't jinx Marc!

Before the season starts gives Bagnaia security over the obvious threats

I do believe Bagnaia deserves it, whether he is the most talented guy on a Ducati or not. He has won the last 2 championships, 2 out of the 3 Ducati have won and deserves a factory ride from Ducati for 2025/6 regardless of how the upcoming season goes for him.

Absolutely. He delivered under pressure at the end of both his title winning seasons, and could hardly have done better than win both titles.

Because of my own fan allegiances I want MM to beat him this season, but this is nothing to do with Bagnaia’s worthiness as a 2 time premier class world title winner.

I don't see how anyone could say different. Yes, he's made mistakes but he's also come through when he's needed to and his back was against the wall whether it be qualifying or in the race. Martin had it right in front of him and let it slip through his hands. That's not Pecco's fault.

I agree that Bagnaia deserves the contract and with a fat paycheck too.

Weird situations can arise, what if Bagnaia injures himself in the first race then Bastainini and M Marquez slog it out for the championship with no one anywhere near? Unlikely but could happen, an early contract makes him almost immune

I think most of the delays will be around Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin. Martin says if he doesnt get a factory Duc next yr then he will go elsewhere and his stock is high right now, so that puts the pressure on Bastiannini to perform, but also puts pressure on Ducati if they want to wait it out a bit and see how Marquez does.

There could be curveballs such as Fabio leaving Yam and maybe someone like Mir leaping into that seat in reaction early on, but I think the above riders will be who the market centres around.

Absolutely I think that could happen. While KTM my not (yet) have amboguous contracts with riders that basically says they can put them in any team of the brand they want, they have proven that they persuaded Pol to step aside despite being under contract.
Amboguous? Is that the new Ginormous?

I just hope that FQ winds up on a competitive bike in 25. I really don't see much in the way of better Yamaha results from the testing so far and I don't think Fabio really does either.

I am concerned that Yamaha is going the way of Honda, as in not giving a .... about the results the bike achieves with the talent they have under contract.

That's two Factory bikes gone right there and probably ten more riders wanting the other two rides. Will be interesting to see if KTM or Yamaha can take one of their satellite teams.

Interestingly, at the launch for GasGas team, Acosta has confirmed that he has a clause in that he is a free agent for 2025 if KTM don't promote him to the factory team:

While Acosta’s contract does have a clause in it which states he can be released by KTM should it not promote him to its factory squad in 2025, he is “calm” for the time being over his future.
MotoGP rookie Acosta ‘has lived last three years with pressure of expectation’

So with Binder confirmed, I guess that means a Binder/Acosta Red Bull KTM lineup in 2025. Unless the contract is vague enough to not say "Red Bull Factory KTM" then maybe there is space at the rumoured Husqvarna team if it comes up?

In all likelyhood though, that seems to close the door on Marc Marquez being on a KTM. So, Honda or Factory Ducati?

I'm pretty sure KTM will try their hardest to get that 3rd team, and LCR's contract is up at the end of the year. Another question is if going from satellite to satellite will entice Marc, I'm sure he'll want to be on a factory team next year.
