Awesome. Now I hope they don't do what they uszally do and leave after three years if they don't immediately win.

Oh and if they actually join please demand a new 10-year contract for the Sachsenring along the way.

If WSBK is anything to go by, I think they'll stick around.
I'm a BMW fanboy since boyhood, so I'm stoked for this.

I always thought the "BMW Power" on the Williams cars were so badass 😄

I’m assuming this is the carrot they dangled in front of Toprak to convince him to stay in WSBK for now. Win a couple of WSBK crowns with them, play an active role in developing their prototype, move over to MotoGP in 2027 and be richer than Scrooge McDuck.

A delusional Scott Redding sees this as his way back to MotoGP. lol

That's a Sauber.
Didn't they briefly abandon the factory effort in SBK after 2012 as well?

And they're about to get out of GTP as well I think.

With BMW likely to come into MotoGP they can drop the Indian race as there's no need to encourage Royal Enfield to join MotoGP :)
Maybe a second UK round then, to give encouragement to Triumph. Would it be technically possible for them to create a 'triple'-ish V configuration with three cylinders front and one cylinder back so that it looks like a triple in photos?

(Not serious)

Would that really be relevant now though? That was Pre aero, Pre stock ECU etc.

The 1000cc engine data seems more relevant, but it also has issues.

I'm a layperson, but several opinion pieces have hinted that the V4 engines will not require a complete redesign. The bore center and the dimensional hardpoints of the engine can remain unchanged, while the internals are resized. The I4 engines, on the other hand, already suffer from a width disadvantage, and the engineers will need to claw back the 2.4cm created by the new 75mm bore regulations. If one of Suzuki's old engines is 75mm bore, maybe it could be of some use to BMW?

The big issue with the V4 theory is that the spec ECU or the MSMA agreements or something do not agree with narrow angle V4's. Honda chucked their narrow angle V4, and Suzuki ditched their V4 and the rumored VR4 when they returned to the premier class. We don't know the particulars of the ECU nor do we know much about the engine regulations for 2027, but for Suzuki's V-engine information to be useful, it seems like narrow angle V's will need to be back on the table. Is the MSMA really in the mood for ICE spending? Maybe they would rather waste money on ICE's than ride height devices?

I guess we'll find out at some point, if BMW actually join MotoGP.
