Oliveira will ride a 2024 bike, and Raul may be offered the option halfway through the season

That's interesting. According to that article they were only able to get additional engines for one rider, allocated to Olivera, but the other rider, allocated to Raul will get the 24 chassis later in the season, continuing with the 23 engine.

If I've got it right there will 5 riders with 23 bikes on the grid this year, that being 4 Ducatis and 1 Aprilia

Wonder what the bike picking order will be for this year (as distinct from the riders and teams)?
24 Ducati
24 KTM (are all KTM's 24 bikes?)
23 Ducati
24 Aprilia
24 Honda (I'm being brave to put Honda before Yamaha)
24 Yamaha
23 Aprilia

Other than the unsurprisingly overt nationalistic paint, I'm more worried about the lack of sponsors. How much of this gig is Dorna funding?

Trackhouse are already a successful NASCAR team, part owned by the rapper Pitbull. The fact the launch bike has a lot more Aprilia logos on it indicate they are helping too, either through less cost for the bikes (maybe they are Eben supplying Oliverias 2024 spec for free?) Or increased financial support.

Any news on Trackhouses request for 2024 bikes?
Olivera gets the RSGP 24 right out of the gate. Fernandez will get it down the road and will start on the 23. Good to see Aprilia is serious about their effort since more data points will help development.

My guess is it’s not so much a case of nationalism as much as it’s lack of taste or imagination. One of the things I love about the domestic racing scene in Japan is the incredible scope of livery designs for even the least well-known teams.

From the outside looking in it appears unimaginative and overtly nationalistic.
I have however never been to the states. There does seem to be a large subset that "wears the flag with pride".
Maybe I am wrong but that is just how it appears.

Hope to get there one day.

Yeh the lack of 2024 sponsorship does raise questions, perhaps 2025 will be different sponsorship wise.

With RNF going down the tubes Aprilia were at risk of losing their satellite grid slots and with Trackhouse being brought in at short notice, I understand they were looking at 2025, they could of negotiated with Aprilia accordingly.

Dorna would love the US paint job as US participation in MotoGP is a single rider mid field in Moto2, MotoGP is at risk of losing relevance in the US and that makes me wonder if Dorna has had some influence, perhaps approving Trackhouse because of the US influence?

It says as much in one of the linked articles. Dorna want to expand in the US and see this as a stepping stone.

Also note that Tech3 have changed from long term lubricant supplier Elf to Motul.

As predicted online, GasGas now have red bull sponsorship.

They revamped the leathers too. This will help avoid confusing the GasGas riders with Bastianini

Ducati Corse's technical director says the difference between the current (2024) bike and last year's models will be bigger than in previous years

I've read that in a few places. I believe Gigi said the main difference (at least visually) is going to be "radically different' fairings as the Sepang test.

What I will say, is the GP22 was boasted as having a more powerful engine, and Bagnaia disliked it so much that the 2 factory bikes reverted to the GP21 spec engine, and Pramac were stuck with the GP22 engine. Probably explains why Martin crashed so much that yr.

So, newer isn't always better.
