2023 Valencia GP - Season Finale

According to sources, he said some pretty bad stuff to Marc

"I wish you had never returned to riding and see when you leave here because you are the cancer of this grid..."

I find it weird that Rossi's own brother seems to be the only one not ...... up in the head in that

I don’t know how accurate or honest, the quotes I saw were, but if the one I read is to be believed, in that interview, Marquez was referred to as being a cancer on the sport.

AS SOME MAY REMEMBER, I KIND OF RELATE. 😆

I have read that Marco said this is all ........, he didn't say those things. Apparently Italian MotoGP media beating out a story as they do.

One of the interesting aspects to next season as has already been referred to, what will be their attitude him when he is a Ducati rider ?. I doubt MM will care as long as he is competitive, don’t know about Ducati themselves.

Yeh, the media of each country will play up their sports players and play down the sports players of other countries.

There's a joke with the English that they want England to win at Soccer/Rugby/Etc but if England doesn't make the finals they will support whatever team is playing France, ie England #1, anyone except France #2 :)

Currently in MotoGP it's an army of Spanish and Italians with a few blow-in's from South Africa, France, Japan and Australia. There isn't even a Brit, German, Yank or Dutchie

a bit here.

I still Valencia is a .... track for racing though
It's not an iconic track layout at all but the racing is usually OK. The stadium-like grandstands make for a great atmosphere and I really like that they're ending the season in Europe where the fans are and not at a random place in the Middle East like F1.

Well, the same goes for germany and some other countries as nobody likes the french for some reason

My wife and I attended the Valencia race in 2019, sat in Corner 2 (one of the slowest corners it appears), could not see much of the track, ended up going up on the hill along the back side of the track to watch from afar. My wife did buy a Rossi 46 shirt that she wears now and then, so it was not a total loss.

I much prefer watching all the races with my VideoPass, no more in person for me.

I hear you. My wife and I went to Valencia with friends in 2018. It was pouring rain for all three days. That put a damper on the race, literally. Then there was a big problem with the trains going both to and from the track. Hours and hours spent getting to and from the track. Oh, also an insufferable vr46 crowd who applauded when Marquez crashed in qualifying. I have not been to a MotoGP race since. With the series becoming ever more like F1, it is unlikely I will ever go to one again. The paella in Valencia was excellent though.

This past summer I attended an AFT flat track event in California. The pricing was reasonable, the parking no problem and the racing much more interesting.

Video footage is so good these days that I have trouble justifying the money and time to attend live events that are televised live.

This.

I've considered going to COTA one year, but I dont want to be treated like cattle and kept 6 miles away from the action, so my only option is to buy the VIP pass or similar and that's $2k, per person.

Just go up to Road America for motoamarica. Access to the pits and anywhere you want else you want to go. I have met all the riders when I have gone and even met Michael Jordan back when he had a team.

Depends on the track. I’ve been to Laguna Seca with a bunch of the guys from this forum, and there were a lot of really great views where you could see the action happening, including at the top of the corkscrew Assen is also a great track. Me and the wife got VIP Village tickets and we saw a lot of action from where we were, the only problem being, that the Dutch are so ....... uptight, that there is very little access available to the paddock, Not to be confused with hot pit lane, which is filled with crews, media people, sports, figures, and billionaire ...... bags. I was supposed to go to Motegi this year but didn’t make it, but next year for sure.

Mm is at fault for the Bezekiel incident and could've avoided the martinator. Also for climate change and world hunger.
Can’t see how he was at all guilty in the Martin incident, unless you expect him not to race in his last time riding for Honda having finished third in the sprint race, particularly given he was vilified for not racing a contender hard enough at this very circuit some years back.

The Bezzecchi thing sure, there are riders not named MM who might well have backed off, but I have seen the rider on the outside in a similar situation blamed on numerous occasions, perhaps unfairly imo.

Pretty sure Nick was being sarcastic.

Sure, realised that and was intending to more or less agree with him and give my general take. The Bezzecchi thing looked pretty similar to the Simoncelli/Pedrosa thing in 2011 for which Simoncelli was penalised to me, although I am not sure he should have been.

MM is rather less likely to back out in general than anyone short of Doohan or Rossi, and I am not sure why Bezzecchi would have expected him to do so early in a race to a Ducati, particularly after MM in his last race weekend for Honda had finished 3rd in the sprint and hence may have been able to stay in the race for at least quite a few laps. I suspect Bezzecchi’s attitude would be different if he was the one riding the Honda against Ducatis, and hr may find his apparent superiority over MM does not hold with them both on Ducatis.

That was also a long time ago, and no matter the track now, you can't really get up close to the action without shelling out the dollars. I'm not going to pay for general admission to get a seat far away from the track to see dots zipping by when I can get much better coverage on my big TV at home.

I think Lex also posted an interview with Ben Spies here saying something along the lines that the new aero bikes leaves one line and one line alone into a corner. They were side by side from turn 2 and seeing as Bezzechi knows Marc is 'Dirty' (his words), then he should have known Marc wasn't going to back out. He knew Marc was there, and gambled on riding around the outside to be on the inside for T3 and it didn't pay off, so it was more his fault imo.

I was at COTA this year and I agree. When we got back to our room at the end of the day I watched the day's action on my wife's iPad so what's the point?
