2023 IndiaOil Grand Prix of India

Seeing the state he was in after, he for sure unzipped...then when Fabs caught up almost instantly, he got serious again.

I don't think Jorge should face a penalty. Fabio was running bare-chested at Barcelona in 2021, Jorge didn't remove anything.

Some of you indicated my prediction that Bautista could be in contention for a Top 5 at Sepang was pretty bold. Jorge was extremely exhausted after today's race and it was the first of five races in five weeks. These guys are not gonna be fresh when they get to Sepang.

Good weekend for Martins championship chances! Thought his pass on Fabio when he ran off track was pretty ballsy but fair and was a statement that he was riding for a championship in which I hope he’s successful. Pecco feeling a bit of pressure and showing same errors he’s prone to. Marc and Mir showing well but Marc forgetting it’s still a Honda. Let’s see what the Honda head honcho has to tell him next week.
If I had to bet on it I'd take Marc staying at Honda and cashing the big cheques.

We shall see.

I was sure Martin was going to receive a penalty for zippergate part 2. So now the question is did Martin open his leather because he was overheating or did aplinestar have another malfunctioning zipper? The fact that he was able to zip it back up and it stayed makes me wonder if he did it. If he did he probably deserves a penalty. Either way aplinestar is going to have to explain all this to save face again.

Commentators were speculating he may have gotten stung by something. I think they said a couple riders were stung during the weekend.

He was complete run down after the race. They said he fainted in parc ferme. Not sure if this is true but I've been there. I have fainted after a race from heat. I have felt the chills of heat exhaustion. He did a great job getting to the finish line but I think they last lap mistake may have been caused by heat exhaustion.

Upon getting off his bike in Parc Ferme, he fell to his knees and the cameras were right there to make sure nobody from his team tried to slip him a replacement chest protector. After that, Bez, Jorge and Fabs were waiting for the trophy presentation and watching highlights of the race. Fabio smiled when he watched Martin's pass on the outside of him and then Martin gave Fabio a big smack on the behind. No hard feelings. Cool to see.

Question about Martin's leathers. I get riding without protection (chest plate) is not safe but is it also not safe to continue riding once your airbag has deployed inside your leathers? They become Michelin Men and lose their ability to freely move around the bike. I ask because when Marini hit Bez in the sprint, Bez's airbag went off. Do they deflate on their own and if they do, are they equipped to re-inflate in the case of a second incident?

Good to see Fabio on the podium again. Yamaha was happy as well and released the following statement: "We are very happy to again be on the podium and happy to have Fabio. As we have been saying, there is nothing wrong with our bike. We remain with our course going forward in MotoGP."

Being stung would make sense and probably explain why he lost a second as well. I certainly didn’t want him penalised, just wondered as MDub did what the parallel was with the FQ incident. If the FQ penalty was for removing the chest protector rather than the leathers being unzipped then I guess they have not been inconsistent for once.

Airbags do deflate on their own and also have two charges. Riders can fall once, return to the race and still be safe in that aspect.

The bee sting was pure speculation based on the fact that someone was stung this weekend. Had there been any truth to it I am sure he would have mentioned it or we would have seen them looking over the area when he was being treated in the paddock.

They changed the wording or added to the penalty for improper gear after the Fabio incident. I am not sure what the new wording is but I am wondering how an open suit falls into the new rule. Petrucci was penalized after a motoamerica race last year for not having he chest protector in for post race festivities. He stated that he removed it after the race but the rule states it must remain in his suit through the podium celebrations.

Feeling the heat works for me as an explanation.

Bagnaia fell down yet again. I don't think he's elite. He won a title but he's on the top works bike in the field and he can't keep it on 2 wheels.

Jorge Martin is only 13 points behind. The fight is on. Go Martin !

My mom and I both predicted Marc's crash about 20 seconds before it happened. He saw 3rd place right in front of him so he forgot he can't push on that s***box.
Anyone else noticed the guy with the "Please go to Gresini" poster in the stands?
The guy wearing the VR46 hat and showing love for MM....goes to show not all of us VR fans dislike MM 😁

Didn't know about the 2 charges, thanks for posting. Is there any rule about rejoining the race after using both charges?

That's a bit stiff. Wonder if there's some history behind that rule?

His falls are strange. They seem to not infrequently occur when he is not under pressure as in this race, he was no chance of catching Bezzecchi and not under threat for second.
(EDIT Have now read the Crashnet report where Bagnaia actually says it was something strange, although something strange that prevented him using the medium tyre.).
These bikes are also strange though. I have seen no explanation for this one but for a previous dnf he has claimed the bike randomly let go.

He seems to say that a lot. I believe he said his crash at COTA wasn't his fault. Okay then, whose fault was it?
I am not all that big a Bagnaia fan, but everyone crashes these bikes. I am not sure anyone can display the relentless consistency the multiple title winners of the last 2 decades did in their title years, particularly with the sprint races and hence two first corners per weekend mixed in. I did think he was remarkable in the previous race after the terrifying highside the race before that.
