So it's looking like a four bike show this year at the pointy end. It would be nice to have the Ducs up there but hey, what can you do?

It also sounds like (from Krop on motomatters) that Cal would be doing even better than he is now, which is pretty impressive as is, if he was getting the electronic updates same as the factory Yams. I can understand the factory not doling out new swingarms etc. to the sattilights right away but why not just let them borrow the flashdrive for 5 minutes? Seems like a cheap and easy way to have more bikes that say Yamaha on them up front.

It's always been this way. "If only the non-factory riders had factory bikes they would..."

Sure he'd be faster, but he's not on a factory bike. The factory bikes should be given to the best riders and those riders have earned that right in my opinion.

Sounds like a few bikes are gonna take a run at the drying track... 20 mins.

And for the most part I agree with you. New swingarm? New clutch? New whatever shipped from Japan? Sure the factory boys should get them first but when it seems as simple and easy as walking a flashdrive over to the next garage it's like the bosses are going out of thier way to limit the sat teams.

Add signals and a headlight and I'll take one!

Ahhhh WTF add the full factory support option to the bill

I completely agree. Also I don't believe Rossi could be competitive either in Honda nor Yamaha anymore. In 2010 well after his accident he was struggling to keep a pace less than 0.5 sec with the front runners, most of the time he was ~0.9 sec off the pace. You're all free to research at motogp.com.

I think Hayden will do well this season. Also, expect Ducati bring a narrower V engine in May. I suspect they are working on it since last year.

He looked pretty competitive to me dude. Just at a quick glance it looked like he only finished off the podium 3 or 4 times the whole season, and got 3rd place in the championship even though he missed a bunch of races.

Like Michael said, he just didn't get slow overnight. Whether he can be fast on a jap bike is another thing. I reckon by the time he gets back on one (if), he will be too old anyway. When u got Marquez and co on their way aswell, it will be a big ask for him to compete with them.

No need to worry. Ducati is selling a lot of bikes, and Audi-Volkswagen have just acquired it. Ducati Corse will stay in business.

The acquisition isn't finalized, according to my German source. Audi is having a close look at the books. My understanding is there is an agreed price in place that will stand until the end of April. From what I hear, it will happen. But theses sorts of things are never done until they're done.

More to your point, if Audi do walk away, someone else with deep pockets will step up. Like Daimler, for example.

If you want to talk arbitrary rules, just look at CRT. The rules are whatever we say they are. The only thing missing in this DMG wannabe circus, is Al Ludington screaming at Johnny Rock Page, YOU ...... UP THE SHOW. The rules for 2011 were hard set . I dislike the engine and tire rules as much as anyone, but Ducati knew them , and chose to redesign their bike mid year. Thats on them.

Well good to hear u concede on the "arbitrary" rules aspect. Regarding Duc, i dont think they knew going in that the engine rule would expose the nature of arbitrary rules making. Unless ur going to say the engine rule was there to screw with Ducati specifically, which i dont think ur saying. So my point again is that rules can hamper creativity and skew competition. U say Duc "redesign", why, were they not already using a solution that employed the engine as a stress member? Now imagine a rule that said, u can only have six chassis. Honda brought out double digit chassis for Pedro to try. This engine rule was detrimental to Ducati in a gross lob sided way. Im trying to make u understand this as u sing the praises of "prototype" design. Again, imagine a rule that limited the Jap bikes to six chassis. Now can u begin to see how absurd it would be for the Japs? Im not saying they didnt agree to the GP rules going in, but since ur "against" CRTs, well, by the same token, everybody agreed to the rules. So ur stand is inconsistent at best, ur cry ........ on Duc citing they knew rules going in, yet u cry foul on CRTs for which again, the rules (arbitrary is arbitrary) allowed they be championship worthy machines against "prototype" bikes. Ive been reading how peeps are upset that there are two sets of rules for fuel. Well who gives a ...., its all man made rules, in the same vein where a manufacture who used an engine as an integral part of their suspension was subjected to rules detrimental to their design. I ask u, what would have been the take if instead of an engine limit rule, there would have been a chassis limit rule? Now imagine if that rule existed while either Casey or Rossi rode the Duc. Can u imagine what might be the take? As surely it would have been detrimental to the Jap bikes.
