2010 second part: the "Mundialito"

It may or may not, just depends on how the points stack up. There are five riders between Rossi and Jorge The point im getting at is this whole mini private championship talk is meaningless , plus it reeks of a prelude to off season "'what ifs" and questioning of any championship not won by Rossi. Think about it, it doesnt happen often, but the 2 titles Rossi hasnt won recently have all been questioned for one reason or another. Bad bike, bad tires, bad accountant, this year, bad luck.

What is the point of quoting attitudes that do not belong to me when answering my posts...? I have never questioned any title won by others against Rossi (and, for that matter, by anybody against anybody). I always try to see the situation as it is. Lorenzo will most probably win this championship, amen. Credit to him. But the "mundialito" like it or not, is part of the scenario. In my view, it makes an otherwise boring season more interesting.

There have been other "mini-seasons" in the recent past: In 2002 Barros, who had struggled valiantly on a Honda 500, finally had the RC211 for the last races of the season and began seriously challenging Rossi, who had already won the title. Rossi accepted the challenge, and he and Barros agreed that the one who collected more points in those last races, would win a pizza. They were protagonists of some nice duels, if I remember well. That's the spirit. Where's the problem? Let them fight it out...

because the guy is always at the sharp end....simple, accept it. How many of the five riders in between vr and jl are seriously going to consistently challenge for race wins for the rest of the season? Maybe 2.

With the 800s proving to be even more boring than ever recently, the return of rossi and some of the potentials brought up in this thread offer at least something for spectators, calling this bopper private title talk is absurd, unless your inferring that all motogp fans are Rossi boppers because everyone wants to see what will happen. .... Rossi's return in practice is headlining the sport section in tv news here in oz right now! Albeit Sky, but to beat our football codes or test cricket at present to the punch or even for motogp practice to make the news is huge.

Hold on to something nearby cos here I go I'm gunna shock you ........

a lot of people don't give a damn, about wheter Rossi is racing it out with Lorenzo, especially when he is down so far in the placings. Indeed I myself think that there is something seriously wrong with MGP if indeed the rider in between Rossi and Lorenzo did not challenge more than Rossi at this stage.
<

Get real, your Boppialism knows no bounds

Solve these simultaneous equations and you'll get the picture.

Boppers = Want to ejaculate over Rossi no matter what.

Non Boppers > Wanting to ejaculate over Rossi no matter what.

I can tell you what will more than likely happen. The season will get to a point where racing Rossi for the " private championship" will no longer make sense in the real championship. Rossi will win a few races towards the end of the season after Lorenzo backs it down to secure the title, Then the fun will begin, we will have a whole off season listening to why Lorenzo's title is tainted and if it wasnt for Rossi getting hurt, blah blah blah. It makes my head hurt just thinking about it.

You might as well just post the emoticons Baz 'The Great'........for they are all that has ever made any sense

Pov, you've never struck me as jaded... except for this thread. Let's let the season play out and see what the gods of racin' have in store for us. The plot line has already made a few unexpected deviations and I , for one believe we'll see another or two yet...

I can see both sides to this.

Early in the season, judging from some posts and the limited scope of media I read, it seemed like some were ready to demote Rossi to number 2 status after a handfull of races. I think Mugello would have been a good test of Lorenzo's possible superiority, sadly Rossi's injury prevented the test from happening. It's not surprisng that Rossi fans, among others, are anxious to see Lorenzo's possible superiority over The Doctor be tested again. Jarno is knowledgable and I would put him in this category.
<

That said, I'm sure there are some here who are getting the asterisk out.
<
It happened the last two times. Remember when Nicky was supposed to be thankful to Rossi for supposedly developing the 2006 champion bike?

It wouldn't be a hard blow at all, their circumstances are so different the victory has very little context. Lorenzo will not be prepared to sacrifice his world championship to fight for race by race pride with Rossi when he could have the greater victory and the greater pride that comes with it. How you can reach the conclusion that winning is more important now that less is at stake is beyond me.

Well Tom there seems to be a lot that is beyond you for the time being. It's about feelings and hart and that does come especially hard for you it seems. But mind my words, Lorenzo will NOT take lightly on the end of the championship even if it's already won. One of the more likable things about Lorenzo is that he does have a strong hart for competition and racing. He will be out there fighting for wins, to what degree is questionable but to see Lorenzo as a cruising caretaker is as likely as we would see Rossi doing the same.

Rossi did it last year, and was quite open about it. Stoner came back from his illness and beat Rossi hands down but Rossi let it go because he had more important things to deal with.

Well Duh, thats when you can go balls out, when you have nothing to lose. If with say 3 races to go, Lorenzo needs 20 points to wrap up the title, do you think he is going to get into fender banging scap for a win or settle for second and the title.Watch the last race of WSBK last year for your answer. After that, with title in hand, he is free to do whatever the .... he wants. To make a point and a little theater , He might ride around the last 2 races doing stand up wheelies with the Spanish flag wearing a chicken outfit. Or if there is an achievable milestone to reach, he may go balls out for wins. Either way doesnt matter, if he has the trophy, mission accomplished

I would expect him to go for the win if he think he can take it, just like Rossi has done in the past. No he won't go all out, only 98.744% (accurate enough?) for that win.

And sure, if Lorenzo's goal is to become another singe championship winner it will be mission accomplished, but somehow a have a vague suspicion that Lorenzo would rather be mentioned together with the likes of Rossi and Doohan rather than Robert Jr, Hayden, Creville. To be up there take some extraordinary competetivnes and I suspect he has that and the hart for racing. That means that the mission are far far from accomplished if/when he take this years WC title. It means that what he does at every race will matter and that any such Mundialito will also have a meaning for him.

Jorge = Ben? Come on Povol that's just funny.

Are you suggesting that Ben doesnt have a champions heart because he did the wise thing and brought home the championship instead of possibly throwing it away for a meaningless victory. That is funny.

So riding smart and keeping your eye on the brass ring will automatically make you a one time champ. HMMMM, interesting

If you want to twist my words go ahead. I consider Ben to be the most calculating rider out there. That means even though I also consider him to have the hart for the sport he would be much, much more likely to slow down on a race or two to secure a championship. And my money would be on Lorenzo if I had to select one of them based on personality. YMMV.

Not nessesaraly but it an incredible competitiveness and a big hart for the sport is part of what I consider parts of the personality of those multiple champions and those will stand in conflict with a calculating caretaking.

Or when Rossi finishes ahead of Lorenzo, whichever comes first.

Actually it is you who wanted to begin counting points as soon as a limping Rossi returns and finishes, predictably, behind Lorenzo. Be generous, give him at least one race slack

No actually its not, it was a dig at those who do. I think ive made myself perfectly clear where i stand on the " mini private championship"
<

You forgot the mundialito begins at Brno
<

Or not

No hurry, 2010 can still deliver emotions. We are going to have a smaller championship, a "mundialito", between Rossi and Lorenzo, with Stoner and Pedrosa (and Dovi) as spoilers. This mundialito will effectively begin at Misano (Brno, and maybe Sachsenring, are going to be warmup races for Rossi). But starting Misano, Rossi will race aggressively with Lorenzo as his target.
