Southern Aridzona - Hell's doorstep.
Race 1

Lap 1
Haga leads Fabio, Spies and Max.

Lap 14
Haga leads Fabio, Spies is coming on strong.

Another good WSS race. Harsh move by Lascorz on Sofluogu - looked like he deliberately clipped his throttle hand. Those Ten Kate bikes definitely don't have the speed advantage they once had. Kenan's learning what it means to exchange paint schemes, and he doesn't like it. Hate to see a rider go down, but it's nice that the only race that Foret crossed up this week was his own.

Another morale building win for Norge and Parkalgar Honda. The organizers have yet to comprehend the difference between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, but then I saw them play 'Waltzing Matilda' for Troy Baylis in '02 at Laguna, then do it again several years later for Chris Vermeulen. They'll perhaps get it right by the time Eugene retires. Another blindingly quick one by Cal. He'll be ruing the start he had.

Great win by Haga. sad to see Spies drop out again....
Didn't expect Fabi to come so strong in the last lap, and Grats to Rea for his first podium

wsbk has been good close racing but with fabi coming good he can ride shoot gun now for nori and the championship is just about over.imo

Great to see Fabrizio right up there again in both races, even if Haga won them. I just hope he can keep this momentum and win a few more this year, as I was starting to worry he was going the same way as Lanzi. Nice riding from Morais on the Kwak too.

No complaints about WSS - Norge and Cal 1+2 again, with Michael Laverty getting 11th.

i hope regis keeps on improving and will be ok after his spinal op tomorrow, at least the nurses in that hospital (sunningvale, sunningdale?) are pretty and the view from the windows is ok..

<span style="font-family:Arial Narrow<span style="font-size:8pt;line-height:100%yes, i am speaking from personal experience

Great races in Kyalami, definitely reminds me of some of the British style flowing tracks I've been watching in BSB.

Race 1
Great job by Haga, a rocket of a start, reminded me of Bayliss starts. He played it smart let Fabio by for a while, then did the business to win. Good job on Fabio for 2nd. Spies looked to be struggling towards the end, and after his bobble and coming out of the seat he was smart to settle in for 3rd and pick up the points.

Race 2
Spies, more bad luck. Houseworth, you're the crew chief man, get your team sorted. The rest of the race was a parade of Ducati pride at the front, double for Haga, he can smell that championship. Fabio, showing serious consistency and worth as a factory rider. Good going Rea picking up a first podium, 4th and 3rd over the weekend. Haslam picked up a much needed good result in race 2 after some recent setbacks.

WSS
Laverty checked out, Crutchlow did the same but unfortunate for him it came to late to challenge for the win. Foret, took himself out when he had a comfortable 3rd tied up. Superglue finding out what its like to have to race with some really aggressive riders, I wonder if he will complain about it like last year, if so he's going to be doing a lot of it. Ten Kate, both Pitt and Sofouglu are not showing their potential. Nice pickup of 3rd by Aitchison, he rode a solid race.

Next up Miller, where I will be making the journey down to SLC to see the races in person. I can't wait.

See you there friend. Cali Kid (if he gets his .... together) and I will meet up with Frost and Geonerd. Start drinking water now, give your liver a break.

Congrats to Haga, double.

Fabrizio mentioned he was more impressed with the Yamaha than with Spies, i wonder what he thinks of the Ducati 1200?

Spies mechanical in Race 2 is frustrating. Unless Haga starts dropping DNFs in a hurry, the championship is his to lose.

Other notes and thoughts:

The commentators didn't say a thing about Laconi, WTF! Get well soon Regis.

The track looks crazy in the middle of civilization, usually you see tracks way in the middle of nowhere. I'm glad S. Africa has been added to the series.

ATTENTION MODS: May I make a HUMBLE REQUEST: Would it be possible to add a WSBK "SUPERSPORT" thread only to avoid having American viewers see SPOILERS (who get the Supersport race two days later)? Perhaps similar to the 125/250 separation of thread from MotoGP.

+1

I am really gutted for Ben. It appeared that the gamble that they tried for race two was going to pay off although it was too early to tell. Someone mentiond that maybe his shifter was damaged during his wobble in race one where he almost came off.

I was really expecting Biaggi to be up there.

Good on Haslem to come back for race 2 with a better showing.

I am glad that the racing incidents were kept to very minimal these races.

Rea and Checa finally had a decent showing, did they finally find something.

Can I say that the factory Ducati's look like they have a pretty good advantage over the rest of the field. Haga is the man, but is he this good??

Interesting Point:
The championship is just about over in WSBK Haga has an 85 point lead, and it would take a miracle for anyone to catch him. So the points race is pretty much a done deal. But the racing is awesome. ON the contrary MOTOGP's racing is about as exciting as watching paint dry, but the points race couldn't be any closer.

Get well Regis

Short answer, yes.

The question you should be asking to make your point is: Is Fabrizio that good?

Short answer, no.

Sorry if you read my low down on WSS. I usually have been starting the thread for WSBK and had been labeling it WSBK/WSS practice, quali, race discussion. Unfortunately I didn't start the thread this time around and I did my usual write up out of habit.

In regards to a 125/250 I wish they would form a sub-board for those classes as well rather then one massive long thread.

Oh, its ok, I actually skipped over the part of wss since you separated it into a paragraph, so shooo, I don't know at thing.

I totally agree about the 125/250 thread, its the very reason why I don't visit it. Its too long and a monster. I say make a subthread to go hand in hand with the premier class thread from race to race.

Ha, they either both are or both aren't!

The post was aimed as a dig at Fabrizio, who credited the Yamaha rather than Spies for his awesome performance. Interestingly, Spies' good teammate has been nowhere, unlike the Ducati duo. So...

Generally speaking:

Put an 'excellent' rider and a 'good' rider on an 'outstanding' machine, you get top results from both: Team Ducati.

Put an 'excellent' rider and a 'good' rider on a 'good' machine, you get top results...from the excellent rider: Team Yamaha (Or are you gonna backpedal that the BSB rider Tom Sykes just sucks?)

No i would agree with your assesment of Spies being excellent and Sykes being good, he was BSB's 4th best afterall. I think he'll come good sooner or later, but he clearly hasn't had the impact Spies has. I don't agree however that you could attribute more of one riders performance to his bike than another when they are both on the same team riding the same bike.
