Why is Ducati so desperate?

All the stuff I've been reading now says that the deadline is September 4th, not the 1st.

should know this weekend. thats when they are gonna annouce it.

Rossi's big reason for turning down Ducati was their attitude that it's the bike more than the rider (as with Honda). The acknowledgment that there are 4 riders clearly above the rest is is a pretty direct admission otherwise.

Must have something to do with Honda not wanting Puig in the pits and Dani must be demanding that his mentor keep his position as is now, but who knows.
Would be funny as hell if Dani did sign with Ducati, and Honda asked Nicky back.

I did try to hint (slightly) at that a page back. Now that most everyone's signed, what options would HRC have if Pedrosa bolted? The seat would almost have to be a 1-year audition/placeholder, with the possibility of moving Simoncelli (or anyone else who impresses next season like Melandri) into the seat next year (Not that many contracts are truly ironclad multi-year deals anyway). At this point, most of the unsigned riders are at risk of dropping out of the series altogether - hardly traditional candidates for a Repsol-HRC ride, especially when the "filled" seat is only 6th in the championship. Absent a reshuffling of already-signed riders, the options aren't that plentiful and they've all got drawbacks. Tough to handicap that prospective competition, but Hayden would have to be in the hunt.

Yeah he said that in his book. Funny thing is that he wanted to go to Ducati but becuase of this he didn't go. Damn hardheads. Well what do they think now is what I would want to ask those at Ducati. Hey there is always the next time his contract comes up and they can tell him we will make a bike just for you. It is moto gp, they aren't selling it to the public. OOOOOH what if Ducati came out with a ROssi made production bike? Now tell me that wouldn't sell. They sold out of the Hayden models. I know that Yamaha did an R1 for europe so that had to do well. But an Italian on an Italian machine! Hey it's Rossi.

Nicky on Toselands Tech 3 would be great to see, But I doubt Dani will take the Ducati ride even if they invite Alberto too. Ducati has only had one succesful Moto gp rider and in my opinion Nicky is doing a hell of a job for them. Way better than Marco, Marco quit half way into the season. Even after being slapped in the face by Suppo (offering Pedrosa a ride) poor Nicky is still positive and willing to stay with Ducati. If Pedrosa jumps to Ducati he can Kiss his World championship hopes good bye

I believe hayden has signed for 2 years with duc. They have the option to cancel, not NH. If they did cancel I don't see too many in line looking to take him. He was lucky in 2006 and even though he's been improving this year - on average he's not been more than a contender for the "off the podium" places. There's a lot of people in front of him on points and a lot of hungry new talent coming in. Only real advantage is his passport and duc's US market. His attraction advantage may dwindle if Spies comes to Motogp

Yea, Hayden luckiest man alive. Get over it people, Hayden is the 2006 World Champion and it wasn't just luck!
Then there is all this talk of his results this year, you know what Ducati are lucky to have Hayden, if they want to keep a revolving door of riders on that bike then so be it, Ducati will never be satisfied as no one will come to grips with the bike. I think Hayden is taking them in the right direction as the bike looks to be more rideable and is apparent with the results of late. Keep in mind he's doing this with less testing, new tires, and loads of pressure from Ducati. As far as Spies taking the spotlight from Hayden, I don't think anyone on here gives a .... about that, Spies is certianly an interesting prospect but how it translates in MotoGP with 800cc motorcycle remains to be seen.

Whatever... BTW...

Give us Stoner (and Adriana..!) back
