You said "ultra high level competition" not MotoGP.

So let's start with the first bit, Gigi was technical head of Aprilia Racing when it was laying waste to the field in 125/250.

He was technical head of Aprilia Racing when it introduced the RSV4 and won SBK a couple of times.

I am not suggesting Gigi wanders over to Ducati (not that they like him there very much, from what I know), but to suggest he doesn't have a clue about success in top level competition is laughable.

As for 8th or 10th place....umm, bit worrisome that those 8th places have seen "Gigi's" ART finish in front of Factory Ducatis...

Needs to get his eyebrows sorted out, though.

ultra high level competition means SBK for you? Well, I wonder how you classify competition in motogp. Maybe ultra master mega super blaster competition? Ok, no problem...

Indeed, when you can have more options of tire, it's not very hard to get ahead of a factory bike struggling to heat a crap tire made for another kind of bike. And I bet as much as I have in my bank account that Gigi will never feel even the smell of a podium in Motogp. He doesn't have a clue of how to do it, and droping Ducati's offer just confirm how coward and incapable he is. If you know how to do it, and will have the money to do it (Audi surely have), why do you step out from the challenge to stay in a project that will never evolve to anything significant? Because you are happy? hahaha... ok... be happy forever without any potential ($$$) to get on real fights. It's because Dall'igna know he can't do the job. Simple.

But I completely agree about his eyebrows.

I have to ask, are you on crack?

You made a stupid point about Gigi having no idea about high level competition. A point that was easily refuted by looking at plain facts.

To then go on about him being cowardly and incapable is heading towards pathetic.

Gigi is an Aprilia man. Always has been. Ducati was always the enemy.

Ducati is a company like any other, one that can offer a job to an engineer like him.

A lot of good talents go from Yamaha to Honda, from Honda to Yamaha, from Ducati to anywhere else. Only kids see companies like enemies or friends. And kids are just kids. Competition is a thing of men, specially the courageous one.

Gigi gave the first signal of his incompetency dropping the offer. He must surely stay where he is now, a place for kids to play safe.

Dall'Igna is just a fanboy middle-class engineer working for his favorite brand.

What other top level engineers have Ducati been able to bring in? The racing department doesn't bring in the money or make the big decisions when it comes to money. For some men their working arrangements and contract are more important than money. Ducati GP efforts have obviously been handcuffed by the money and marketing people, not everyone wants to work in that environment.

Seems to accord with observed events, such as the necessity for tyres developed to particularly suit the bike and an unusual riding style to be competitive.

Yes.

Hiring Cal unfortunately seems to go in the wrong direction -- the illusion of solving Ducati's problems by throwing an "aggressive" rider at them. I hope it is not so, There was a notion that Stoner could ride the thing fast just because he is an aggressive rider; nothing more wrong imo, Stoner could do it thanks to his super-fine perceptions of what to do, not thanks to sheer aggression. Finding another Stoner is a chimera: Cal may hope he can ride like Casey, and he said that much in a recent interview with MotoSprint, but Ducati's management shouldn't hope for anything like that.  I wish the new bike expected for October fully takes into account all the inputs given by Rossi and Dovizioso, and is in fact a fast bike that more riders can ride. A truly changed bike.

Why one year into Audi's acquisition things are still stagnating? Truth is, after Preziosi's departure there has not been a new real head at Corse: Gobmeier doesn't have the deep knowledge to effectively lead development and the various designers heads, left to themselves, didn't try anything revolutionary but played it safe with many small changes that didn't change much. The small steps approach has already failed, after that it was (and is) time for the big changes.

J4rno,

Why do u think they refuse to let Hayden or any other duc rider try the updated monocoque chassis?

Which updated monocoque chassis? That dinosaur has been extinct for long now.... killed more by the engine rule than by other factors I think.

I believe Clark was referring to the latest frame Dovi is using; the one Ducati said they didn't have enough material to produce for Hayden to test at Misano.

probably because Ducati Corse is a very small operation, contrary to Honda that is a gigantic company that also sells cars. Not enough resources to churn out so many chassis, especially because the riders have not seen too much of an improvemnet so no use continuing in that direction just so the One Title Wonder can have a go on a bike that is barely any different than the bike he is riding now.

I just read the latest interview with Dovi from GPone and he doesn't sound to happy with the people at Ducati, but it's a little hard to tell what may have been lost in translation. Maybe they should have kept Nicky, he would have kept losing while having a good attitude and talking about all the results surely to be right around the corner as long as they keep working hard.

<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:verdana;font-size:small;"We are working on a complete redesign of the motorcycle," Gobmeier said to German media. "We investigate every angle, we study the data and all information that we have collected this year."
<p style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:verdana;font-size:small;Ducati will introduce an hybrid between its GP13 and 2014 machines at the post-Valencia test in November, Gobmeier said. That bike will be refined into the team's 2014 bike.

So at the end of the year, they'll test a GP14 hybrid....

Meanwhile, Honda already has some reasonably fast retired guy fanging about on their MY14 RCV.
