I'd like it if they ran on proper courses, but I suppose running on streets is the main attraction to the series.

They race on poor pavement intentionally. Besides the fact the U.S. doesn't have a lot of world class circuits, they do it to promote the drivers and not the machines.
All the electronics in the world can't compensate for public American roads.
In the end it comes down to setup, balls, and seat of the pants driving.
CC could be a lot better but it isn't half bad.
I saw the IRL finish and I couldn't believe my eyes. Crushed for Dixon but the championship couldn't have gone to a better guy imo. Franchitti has been a solid driver for the series and he's got one hell of a gal waiting for him at home.
