After everything Ducati have been through in terms of pouring through top end riders, ruining their careers and then claiming the bike is ok they are finally in a situation now where the rider and feedback is as credible as it can ever be in the world of bike racing. That is part of the reason they are in such .... now, because they have been forced to tackle the actual problem, having effectively ruled out the rider and team as a factor. With all due respect Bayliss is not needed and he isn't going to fix it.

Agree

Basically I agree. Bayliss, fan of his though I am, is not in stoner's let alone rossi's class as a motogp rider. In any case at best he might be able to sort the bike to be better for him or even stoner, but there are no great prospects of either riding motogp races for ducati anytime soon.

So the aluminum front part does not work, full carbon does not work, most likely the riding position change will not work..............I don't understand how this GP bike can be so off compared to the 1098 in WSBK who Checa can put it anywhere on the track it seems? I know it a production to a prototype but come on.....it's not rocket science once you got a good foundation which the 1098 has? I think they need to call in Bayliss

The similarities end at clip-ons and "runs on gas".

Your wish will probably be granted.

At Imola this weekend, during the SBK race, Preziosi told reporters that Bayliss is coming to Mugello to test the new SBK again, and in that occasion they may let him test the GP12 as well. As he already did in the past with the GP9. Anyway, in the previous occasion it was quite clear that Troy is no Casey, although both of them grew up on kangaroo milk and dirt track. Stoner is one of a kind, no doubt. And Troy sets up his bike in a peculiar way, so the test would be just to get his feedback whether the bike seems easier to ride now than in 2009. Certainly not for development.

And even that is prototype.

You realll think that?...Come on! every bike turns the same and rolls the same ....some do it better cuz of there gyometry but you gotta be shittin me if you think just because it's a prototype it not the same as your GSXR or 1098? Like I said they have the foundation and a damn good one in the 1098 how the .... can they not get that right on this 1.5 ,windows 7 bike or whatever number it is now? Proto or not evrything should be better but that is not the case and thats what I was trying to point out. As far as Bayliss I don't think he can fix this POS but he might get them to go in the right direction. He is not a CS he is Bayliss tho and the only other person to be able to ride this Duc to victory and with ease I might add......so its a safe bet he can give them really good feed back

My only other concern is Bridgestone...thay are like Ducati, falling on there face in this tire situation. Ever since they went with the single tire rule and they got the bid to supplly tires....they all went on vacation. When Rossi says " I never seen Bridgestone handle like this in my years of racing" Then you know they are way off the mark. They need to bring in other Manufacturers like the good ol days and make this a compition like its supposed to be. That what made it interesting. bike wars, tire wars engine wars and so one the team that got it right got the win !

Capirossi has him beat 7-1.

And every bike is different when ridden at 95-100% of it's capabilities, even the ones that are built the same, and there is nothing built the same when it comes to a 1198 and a GP11.1.46.b/x model.

Why tell us Capi has more wins? What's your point?

Allthatflash is just stating that Bayliss could be of value given that he has a win if they listened to his feedback (something perhaps they did not do with Capi). I'm pretty sure most of us on the forum know that a 1198 is nothing like a GP11X.

Rossi is searching for excuses as the excuse well runs dry. The Bridgestone tire continues to break track records, so no, they have not gone on vacation. I found it interesting that no one picked up on Bridgestones press release after the last race. Everyone from fan to rider bitched about the hard compound and how they were slow to warm up, were to good, and lasted the whole race blah blah. Bridgestone brings a softer compound, no one bitched about slow warm up, but complained that they went off towards the end of the race.. They asked for it, got it, and still bitched, that is, the ones who were looking for excuses . Bridgestone has taken a lot of undue criticism for certain riders woes, and to be honest, im surprised they re upped. Im guessing that wouldnt have happened if they had not decided to charge teams for their tires.

It appears that some in the Moto2 paddock may be taking this seriously, I have a heard a rumour that two of the moto2 pilots are having a special ride at a western Sydney dirt short circuit, the weekend before P!. A CR500 has been prepped for that job, the other is to apparently ride a YZ450F. Bradl is a name mentioned though the source is a "less familliar" agent between and old racing acquaintance ( who is providing the CR ) of mine , and myself. Perhaps it will be some of the Moto2 guys who will provide the next competition for Stoner? Though I think a weekend on a dirt tracker comes far short of a junior career on one.

Allthatfish:

My point is that Bayliss is not the only guy other than Stoner to win on a GP Duke, he's not even number 2 on that list by a very large margin. That's my point.

And as for the GP11X and the 1198. I agree, most here would see significant differences, my impression from Allthatfish was that he didn't seem to think so. Not trying to attack anybody here.

And if you want to get really technical, Bayliss never won on "this " Ducati, which is a totally different breed than the 990 he rode in 06

That maybe true........But I am just saying? but the main question is WHY is this GP bike suck ...? it doesn't matter who rides it that was never the question, just bring in someoen who might give a lil better info.........Bayliss was really successfull on a Ducati and from that point give the man a try, hell he can't do any worse IMO? this was just posted on Superbikeplanet.

After reading that article, its an easy conclusion that the difference is the rider. Ducati succeeded in building a bike that only one entity on planet earth can ride. Ducati prides itself on "outside the box" engineering, they should be very proud of what they achieved, this thing is way outside the box.

In all seriousness, it just goes to show what a special talent Stoner is.

Not near there, but know many people involved at the site.

May need to ask a question or two

You may be lucky, its pretty "backdoor" from what I can gather. The CR500 being prepped was a keepsake that rarely gets used these days even.

Though the owner has many links in GP ( JB amongst them ) and in other garages it would seem.

Not exactly the worlds most picturesque visiting spot I must admit ( Nepean ) but meh, it would make a nice ride down to go and watch.

The initials of the CR owner would not be CJ would they?

I know a CJ with an old dirt track prepped CR500
