Valentino Rossi as a number 2

How the .... do you know that's what happens when Rossi is in a team? Have you worked with him? I don't think so so stop spouting .....

Dude, he said ' I Think ' this is whats going to happen. Its an opinion,

i believe valentino understands that right now there is no shame being no2 to lorenzo.. i mean, jorge is clearly one of the best riders ever

imho, the new generation is always faster, and better in general, its just natural. rossi is an old rider, still very fast for sure, but now i dont think he can beat lorenzo for the title, or even dani, he has to be as fast as 4-5 years ago at least, i dont know if it can happen.

i m sure he will be fighting for podiums, and maybe 1-2 wins like 2010, i think its important for a rider that was used to winning, to know at least that he has the right equipment to do so again, even if he cant anymore.

i hope we can see some good races, even without stoner

First reasonable response in this thread. Congratulations.

Ask your wife........

Badabing, thank you ladies and gentlemen. Try the veal, it's lovely.

I love how after a few pages of EVERY single topic, it just turns into one big argument lol

I'm keen, Rossi is always at his best when he has something to prove. WIth the disaster of Ducati (i know he had something to prove then, but when it isn't right there is only so long you can fight it, even Casey left them lets remember). I think we'll see the Grittiest Valentino we've seen yet, I don't think he will beat Lorenzo in the title race, but I reckon he'll be good for wins.

You may be right....I think however that the him bringing the sponsorship money (and probably having some control over it) will influence how the team works for his best interests and gives him equal standing as JLo....

Unless JLo pulls the pin and wins the title this year for Yamaha....then Rossi might be a real second rider like Spies is today....

But this is what I am talking about. If Jorge wins and Rossi doesn't, all is ok, Jorge in the next two years gets another contract and he isn't going anywhere. He is their current future. Valentino is merely a PR person to Yamaha in the next few years at the champion days in Laguna. He isn't the main deal to win. I highly doubt that they want Vale winning very much at all just to make sure Jorge' doesn't get pissed and leave due to the two egos. We all know that Jorge wants to be Valentino but not at the expense of him taking his seat and thunder. So regardless of what Vale brings to the table, it isn't enough to make him even a equal, he must be a lesser in order for Jorge's ego to be satisfied.

not only a PR person, but another rider that has the skills to make sure he is at least at the pointy end every other weekend, so that they not only have a really good chance of taking a WC, but an even better chance of taking the manufacturers championship for the next couple of years.

even Casey left them lets remember

I thought Stoner left them because after a couple of years of banging his head against a wall, they still wouldn't listen to him and didn't make any of the changes he said were necessary.

Quite different reasons, when you consider the number of changes and the amount of money spent trying to make Rossi competitive.

Two sides to that...yeh if you just look at the last two years theres no way he would....but Yamaha remember what he has done for them since 2004, and i don't think they are ready to forget it quite yet.

Lorenzo will be the "number 1 rider" but not really. I don't think there will be that lead rider talk as much as we usually see, simply because Rossi is Rossi and because he can bring in sponsors and $. Next year will be interesting.

All I know is i hope Lorenzo woops Stoner this year and has him crying all the way back to the outback.

On the whole I agree... but the sponsors Rossi may or may not bring are not as important as winning championships which

Lorenzo has managed quite well with a minimum of sponsors. It's not a business proposition; priority is beating Honda.

Having a scheming, conniving Rossi on your team has got to be better than having Spies wandering round the track every race weekend wasting the potential of one of the best bikes on the grid and providing little publicity/possible sponsorship etc for the team.
