Valentino Rossi as a number 2

I'm new to this site. It seems like a lot of Rossi bashing on here too. Geez. Give the guy a break he is trying to get back to being able to win just like ANY RIDER ON EARTH would do of given the opportunity. . I personally think he might want to actually be no2 this time. The underdog. Just being able to focus 100% on setup and racing instead of constantly developing and testing new stuff.

Yeah, he's a real victim, we should feel sorry for him and give him a break.

Hey, I have this brilliant plan where everybody can stop with all that pesky development and testing work. We just get rid of the prototypes....oh, wait....

Who gives a ....?

Oh yeah.........another thread to piss on Rossi, aren't there enough here already

Who's counting?

why Rog it that was any other rider with those results in the last 2 yrs they wouldn't get a sniff in a million years of that seat

Rossi's had his time and chances that seat should be with a up and coming rider

and if he gets his ... kicked in most races what fools the whole lot of them will look

you're an ........LMFAO!!!

It must be quite a shock for a newbie poster that has grown accustomed to forums that praise Rossi 24-7, to stumble across a website where some of the members didnt drink the yellow kool-aid. Blasphemy i tell you!

Two sides to that...yeh if you just look at the last two years theres no way he would....but Yamaha remember what he has done for them since 2004, and i don't think they are ready to forget it quite yet.

Lorenzo will be the "number 1 rider" but not really. I don't think there will be that lead rider talk as much as we usually see, simply because Rossi is Rossi and because he can bring in sponsors and $. Next year will be interesting.

All I know is i hope Lorenzo woops Stoner this year and has him crying all the way back to the outback.

Sorry, I was paraphrasing a quote from the Godfather.

Seriously though, I think that is what will happen. He will .... all over the nest again, push all the buttons he can push, use all the leverage he has and play every dirty trick in the book to reassert his dominance. No manufacturer is independent in the way they treat their rider when that rider is Valentino Rossi. Not while Ezpeleta runs the show and not as long as they care about public image. That's the reality of dealing with Rossi. Yamaha had everything lined up for a succesful few years but now they've let the poison in again that Lorenzo had just helped them to purge. It's going to be all the same old .... all over again...

How the .... do you know that's what happens when Rossi is in a team? Have you worked with him? I don't think so so stop spouting .....

In my opinion Rossi going to Ducati in the first place was a bad move, worse than his return as a number two rider to a bike he owned once. Like the rookie rule thing that was bad in the first place. Lets look back at 2010. Rossi's performance in 2010 was not the same after the injuries he sustained (both the shoulder at motor cross and the leg at muggello), So even on the rest of the 2010 season when he was riding his babe he was a wounded rider. There is absolutely no logical reason for a wounded rider to ride on a wounded bike. Everybody knew that the Ducati's illness was serious. I'm not Rossi or Stoner's fan but I think the only reason Rossi went to the red team was a childish stupid fight with Stoner just to tell him you are .... and I am better than you. According to his love letter to the M1, He was just looking for a new challenge, Well it turned out that the challenge has bitten the Doctors ... so badly he was forced to return to his old team were he belongs.

i believe valentino understands that right now there is no shame being no2 to lorenzo.. i mean, jorge is clearly one of the best riders ever

imho, the new generation is always faster, and better in general, its just natural. rossi is an old rider, still very fast for sure, but now i dont think he can beat lorenzo for the title, or even dani, he has to be as fast as 4-5 years ago at least, i dont know if it can happen.

i m sure he will be fighting for podiums, and maybe 1-2 wins like 2010, i think its important for a rider that was used to winning, to know at least that he has the right equipment to do so again, even if he cant anymore.

i hope we can see some good races, even without stoner

You forget....Rossi brings the sponsorship money with him to Yamaha, which they do not have with Ben Spies or Jorge Lorenzo at the moment.....so it is more than likely Rossi will be in a good position to get equal treatment as JLo....

JLo now has to win the 2012 title for Yamaha just to make double sure he doesnt get demoted back to number 2 rider for Yamaha in 2013.....

Money Talks...
<

So what if Rossi brings the money. That doesn't imply loyalty to him, especially since he is only going to be there for the next two years he has left in GP. So what, does it mean that the sponsor pulls out if Rossi doesn't win? I highly doubt it. Jorge is their future, or else Rossi would be number one again. It is all about winning now, and if Rossi does win, more power to him, if not, I wonder what .... starts to fly then. But I would say no matter what money Rossi brings into the team, is just money brought into the team.

You may be right....I think however that the him bringing the sponsorship money (and probably having some control over it) will influence how the team works for his best interests and gives him equal standing as JLo....

Unless JLo pulls the pin and wins the title this year for Yamaha....then Rossi might be a real second rider like Spies is today....
