I don't recall the AMA guys running there. What year was that? They tested in 2003 and even that was only 2 riders, Zemke and Hascovec. I think all US MotoGP fans are concerned about the lack of proper tracks here at home but this would have to be done right. Can you see MotoGP signing off on a course with cones marking corners? They [Indy] are also talking to WSB so it sounds serious to me.

no the island is great,no way should that be dropped ,and i dont think they should drop china for another usa round either.
i think the only solution is a 20 round season

what do you think

I reckon 24 rounds, 2 a month all year round with WSB on the alternate weekends

excellent idea although we may have to have some back to back races, after all you have to give them at least a 2 week brake during the year.

Road America is a great track just needs a few little things for safety. I've been there and there is PLENTY of places to watch the trees really don't really get in the way and there is trails between them to get to spots. Indy would also be good pending they make a good track without cones. Best of all I could make it to both.

Well, the riders are against more rounds. As spectators, I think it's easy for us to sit back in our recliners with a good beer and demand more races, but do we really understand the work involved with flying around the world, living out of hotels and racing every second weekend? (Remember, just because these guys arent racing or publicly testing, dosen't mean they're not working.) And theres monumental costs to be absorbed, not just for the teams but for sponsors and organisers (Although Dorna shouldn't complain, with the amount of money they're making)
I think we could "cut out the fat" a bit, rounds like the desert with no attendance and crap weather, and China where the circuit isn't really suited to MotoGP bikes, to makeroom for rounds like Welkom, but we may be pusing too hard asking for more rounds. Anyway, remember the old days of what? 12 races a season? We're lucky in that sense.

Indy is a "historic" track..
here's a bit.. (INDY will be 100 years old in 07/08 )...

The FIRST EVER race held at INDY was not a car race..it was a MOTORBIKE race..part of getting Moto GP there is to celebrate 100 years of INDY, and to start it off the way they did 100 years ago, with the most exciting racing of that time and now... Motorcycles...
<

Personaly i'd rather see them at Miller cause that track is GP Quality, and was built with motorcycles in mind..Road America would be good to, but it would need a complete make over.. INDY also will need a make over, but i see them spending the money more freely to do so compared to Road America.

someone said the U.S. doesn't deserve or need a 2nd race...no, China, Turkey and Losail do not need a race... NO ONE GOES!
<

Laguna both years had 150,000 people there... plus Road America, Miller and INdy are closer to me than California.

I personally don't see this race happening.
I bet the racetrack would be alot more willing than other to spend money but I still dont think that they will replace China with Indy for 2008.

Hey, I wish they did, I would fly up there and see it but I dont think its going to happen.

can't see indy at all. or any oval track with a micky mouse short infield course, probably trying to utilise some of the bank turns ala daytona, cali speedway. we need the 2nd round at MILLER! road america would be a good track but it's remote. they lack services, garages & would require a boat load of coin to make it conform to gp standards. barber would be good but it's a tad tight. i don't think the bikes could get outa 3rd gear. miller is a state of the art 4.5 mile true road course. with all the trimmings. designed with bike racing in mind. no friggin 1st gear hairpin lamebrain fnone track. as far as a round being axed to make room for another round. qatar surely. china will stay because the market prospects are enormous for the manufacturer's. turkey is an awesom track & in time i'm sure will atract bigger & bigger crowds. the desert sands we can do without. dump qatar.

put it this way..for those who ride...where would you rather go?

3-D round Miller here:3D LINK

Indy Track : and remember, the Indy track is an "infield"...know what that means?...it's flatter than a 9 years old girl.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (frosty58 @ Dec 26 2006, 09:49 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>look at that bloody indy track! utilizing the banking! no way!

did ya see the Miller 3D?..

That Indy pic above is the F1 track used now... I would be great to bring another round to Indy if only the 125 and 250 class would come in there as well... I'm not interested in AMA, but I don't think there is any AMA race at Indy unless they will bring an Indy round for AMA in 08 as well.. I guess that will be a hint that a MGP round will go to Indy if no announcement was made yet... I don't like that Laguna Seca doesn't host the lower classes and paying 90 bucks for three days is no fun without getting to meet other riders like Lorenzo...

Also, I think it is sad that the Chinese government is not doing anything to keep MGP in China... let's face it.. I know that Sepang has less F1 and MGP attendence for those championships.. but a testament to keep the races in Sepang proves the commitment of my country.. I don't like the sound of World Champion for a series that races only in Europe.. or like Football World Champion for the NFL when it is an American sport...

Also, I agree... bring back a Brazilian and South African round!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Yamahamer-AL @ Dec 26 2006, 12:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>did ya see the Miller 3D?..
yep! saw it when the site 1st went up!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (PPPope @ Dec 23 2006, 08:11 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I second the idea about using Road America of Miller. The F1 track would be a death trap for MotoGP bikes; fast sweepers with cement walls all around. The Fontana or Daytona "cones marking corners" look would also be tacky. This is GP racing, not the AMA (no disrespect intended), they should be racing at premier motorcycle tracks.

Isn't that why MotoGP left Suzuka? The walls were too close to the track.

Theres nowhere near enough runoff at Indy for MotoGP. Sure they could spend money, but timake that circuit MotoGP-safe they'd be moving a lot of stuff. By the time theyve finished spending millions of dollars, Indy would be nothing like it is now. That Miller place looks good, but I doubt Dorna have much intrest in a second USGP.
