Dan made his debut on the mountain course back in 2008 at the Manx Grand Prix where he won a hat-trick of races as a newcomer, he got his only TT podium at last years event in the Superstock race and was an Ulster Grand Prix winner in 2014. Rest in peace Dan.

This man had a genuine chance of winning races this year, set his fastest ever lap on Tuesday night and then this. Hopefully we hear better news about the guy who collided with a course car, how on earth that happened I don't know because the course was under a full red flag and had been for almost 20 minutes when this incident happened, there shouldn't have been a bike on track.

I really don't know what to say. Dan looked really good at the North West and I really thought he would be up there this year.
Jesus Christ, such a terrible loss.
God Speed Dan.

The rider involved in a collision with a course car has been confirmed as Steve Mercer, he was airlifted to Nobles hospital and has been transferred to Liverpool.

Investigations are ongoing into the incident, no news about practice sessions tonight so far I really wouldn't be surprised if they called the event off in these circumstances.

Do you think the whole race week, or just tonight's practice?

Just in...

"Hello every one thank you For your support at this sad time Dan lived for his racing and wild horses wouldn’t of torn him away from it I was happy for him he’s was in his element and loving it my thoughts are for Leanne and my other son Ryan and are whole family dan would want us to be strong and for the Tyco team to crack on they have my full backing lets think of the happy times with Dan and smile when you think of him thanks to the marshalls and medics and every one involved thinking of Steve Mercer as well best wishes for all the other tt competitors the tt show will go on RIP my son Daniel Richard Kneen from DAD"

Got to feel for the TAS and Jackson racing teams as well, it's just over 15 years since TAS lost DJ and Dan was also due to ride for the Jackson team in the Supersport races, Steve Mercer was also riding for the Jackson team this year.

I thought Dean might have been a bit quicker.
But Hicky is looking rapid.

It rained the night before so the track was a bit patchy. I think MD is sandbagging though, he hasn't done any flying laps, he just does a stand start lap and switches bikes but he's still top 4 in every class.

Ah, right.
That makes sense, it stays damp under the trees for a while. You can never count Michael out, that's for sure and those Tyco boys know what they're doing with setting up a bike.
