The latest news regarding the Suzuka 8 Hours comes from www.motoracing-japan.com. This site claims that a Japanese media has leaked that Yamaha will field Noriyuki Haga and Colin Edwards as teammates aboard a full factory prepped R1 for the 2006 event. It appears to be an attempt at a throwback anniversary as 10 years ago the duo won the event for Yamaha. Since then it has been dominated by Honda. Also of note, Jason DiSalvo has been selected to ride for Yamaha's "B Squad." So, what will HRC's rebuttle be?

can you give me a bit more background on the race ooost? is it an endurance where the riders take turns on the same bike?

That'ts the jist of it. Two riders take hour stints on the bike for eight hours. One bike during the race. It's pretty straight forward.

sounds like that could be fun. dya know if any TV stations show it?

I don't know for sure as here in the US we get no coverage so anything I say is pure speculation. But I thought I have seen or heard of coverage of these FIM Endurance races on Eurosport or Sky or something. I'm probably wrong but that sounds familiar. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

And Haga and Edwards might be able to stop another Honda year. Nope, I`m booked. It sucks but thats life. I think it`s the 61st anniversary of the nuking of Hiroshima so all of Japan's gonna work together and punch a hole in the atmosphere with a million megatonnes of fireworks. But THIS IS THE SUZUKA 8 HOUR!! COME ONNN!!

Nori Haga? Isn't he well past it if he won 10 years ago?

Nori Haga? Isn't he well past it if he won 10 years ago?

Colin Edwards won it 10 years ago, I wouldn't call him well past. Their both still very strong competitors. Colin is only 33ish, not sure about Nori.

They`re gonna win. Haga is the fastest R1 rider in the world and the only man Yamaha have who is faster than Edwards is Rossi himself, and he won`t be doing it again. Ever. Neither of them are young guns but come on, Haga is second in the world Superbike championship, and he took a few wins last year against guys like Corser and CV, and just this weekend Edwards almost won a GP race. They`re the best guys Yamaha could possibly send and I`m tipping them for the win. Biggest threat will come from Kiyonari and Takahashi. But the achillies heel in that team is every couple of hours Kiyo has to get off and let the runt from 250s have a go.

Besides, Haga is better than Kiyo. The only Japanese rider better than Haga currently racing in my opinion is Nakano.
