Yamaha on the other hand was very smart in getting Spies, they will have a front runner in Moto GP as soon as Colin is released

Ben SPies really knocked the WSBK paddock for a loop this afternoon when he clicked a series of really fast lap times on the Yamaha R1. Spies lapped just fractionally slower than the laps put in by Troy Bayliss and Nori Haga in the race on Sunday.

Lap times were as follows:

Troy Bayliss 1:43.7

Nori Haga 1:43.9

Ben Spies 1:44.1

He's but a poofteenth away from Troy and Nitro. Not too bad (actually really ....... good). I sincerely think Spies is underrated but I have to ask, does he still have his mother with him?

The Bates Motel scene isn't going to cut it and it don't matter how good he is...

I bet (and hope) Paul Denning and the rest of the MotoGP team managers are kicking themselves hard right now. He's too good for WSBK and he's not getting any younger. I hope this is his first and last season in WSBK for his sake as he needs to step into the premier class in 2010 along with Kiyo and Neukirchner if they perform in 2009.

Being as Mary Spies is his manager as well as his old dear, I'd say it's safe to assume that she will continue to be ever present in his affairs.

M.Frabizio 1:44:1

I think SOUP forgot a rider or two...

And that is not taking into account the practice or qualifying times...

I also corrected the list, Byrne had a quicker time than Bayliss (

!) and Spies managed to improve by a tenth to a 43.9.

Next season should be AMAZING for WSB. Moto is gonna have a hard time keeping viewers...
