Spies calls it a day

Dammit! I was hoping for a 1000+ word reply, numerous personal insults, severe questioning of my intelligence and threats of excommunication from the powerslide community. You are not living up to the expectations build up in recent times.

If you want that you have to earn it. You can start by trying harder and link the correct assertions to the correct members haha

As I remember it, they were both making this argument. But if Jumkie says I've got it wrong, I'm happy to acknowledge my mistake, knowing that at least he's not fallen victim to such hypocrisy.

Perhaps oddly, Ben was imo dynamite as a guest commentator this year, much better than Freddie Stoner (I nod to Sun) and obviously even more so than  Dean Adams for that matter; he was both insightful and wry.

Very true....I thought Chris Vermuelen also did a great job of guest commentary on the Phillip Island coverage this year.

I do think Spies is done due to injury.....but could this be a possible opportunity in the future?  IS MJ headed to Wsbk or GP?  Is there hope for John Hopkins? Perhaps a young American from DSB?  Will Nicky wear a MJ logo on his leather anytime soon?

An all Americam MJ Gatorade Honda with Nick and ______ would be kickass B) and Nick was needing sponsorship cash could be good timing.. or even a MJ Yamaha team i mean wtf is a "Tech 3" anyhow? ;)

But ill put $5 on a MJ Suzuki Team 2015..

Anthony Gobert - nuff said?

Disagree as Gobert is a royal ........ with what he has become but Mladin is, was and always has been a 'less than liked' figure within the sport in this country (all IMO of course but many, myself included still remember the 'younger' Gobert and what he achieved, Mladin is a different case altogether)

True, Gaz. Both attempted 500s. With distinct lack of success, but...

Gobert has PI SBK 1994 as a (slight) counter to his dickheadedness....Mladin has...?

All this talk about Mladin. I've had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with the bloke a few times years ago when he still had his bike dealership on narrellan Rd. He always had a few minutes to chat, never seemed to mind. Even let me sit on his superbike one time, he never came across as arrogant or rude. Mind you I never really followed his career or read all the media, so i csnt comment there. All I knew was he rode AMA and was pretty good.

I know some guys who worked in that shop at Narellan and by all accounts his AMA/Media persona is quite a lot different to what he was really like. But I guess that applies to a lot of people in that type of situation.

He ran a very successful business (Mladin Imports) for a long time, but kinda ...... it up by trying to become a direct to the public wholesaler, which pissed off the dealer networks as they had supported him for a long time. He undercut them badly, and in turn they wiped him and a big part of his customer base was lost.

Met Gobert a few times in the 90s, he was a massive talent, far more than you would realise on the TV or by his results, he could have been 500 champion no problem, apart from one thing, he was also a massive ....... ....., this is the guy who goes for drug tests to decide his career, and stubs his spliff out at the door, but he was funny, pissing in that tool hodgson's helmet was very funny.

These are all common knowledge, and have been for years. I have been waiting for you on the RCV thread, thought you had something interesting to say.

That was an anecdote. I've got lots of them. My wife keeps them for family events and when I am getting above my station...

Haha. So that wasn't slagging. Cool.

On my horrid phone, I'll get back to that RCV thread tomorrow when it doesn't mean pecking away on a screen.
