Spec Tyres for 08

Dorna

Again, WTF?

If it happens it will ....... suck! Nothing wrong with the rules this year at all.

I've been saying it all along. Control Tire.

Well I was for it, but now I'm starting to change my mind, why? Because it seems like this is chicken .... Dorna cowering to Pedrosol Hondas' demands (Repsol-Dani).

Well then, who would supply the spec tire? I hope not Michelin. If it’s Bridgestone, then I'm for it. .... Michelin if they are behind this in cahoots with Perosol. They can't take one "bad" year?--and really, its not that bad.

Nothing more amusing than man with priciples like you Jumkie. Allways ready to change your POV whenever someone you don't like agree with you.

Who cares. I'm not following the sport for the tire brands sake.

I'd say go for Pirelli

I wanted a control tyre as well, but .... it if it means Bridgestone get the boot. If Michelin get it, does that mean the 31 tyre rule remains? I'd hate to see overnighters for a few factory teams while the satellite guys suffered.

It's too short notice as far as I can see, which means it will probably happen. All 3 companies have been asked to submit proposals. Hopefully Dunlop get it, everyone would start from scratch.

Im pretty sure if they went to a spec tire it would be bridgestones I think it would make for more interesting racing.

I dont know why you guys see it as so bad, I mean if michelin is around the same as this year or even just slightly better but bridgestone still wins most of the races Im sure the factory honda and yamaha teams will be talking of switching to bridgestone again

Michelin have won the title every year forever and when bridgestone are finally gonna win then it's THE WORLD HAS ENDED! It's a ....... joke. Who is coming second and third in the title race? Wow, 2 michelin runners - surprise surprise.

Seems a good idea to me, but dunno who would be the sole supplier, in F1 Michelin quit and said they would not participate in a spec tyre series cause it was against the spirit of competition (or some similar bollocks excuse).
And Bridgestone already said they cannot supply more teams.
I would prefer that the sole supplier was a manufacturer not involved until now.

Anyway I doubt it will happen.

All the people that say 'a one brand category will make things even' need to get real.. You dont think factory/favorite riders will still be given preferential treatment?

If anything, this will make the gulf between certain riders (factory/private, nationalities) even bigger, simply because there arent a number of tyre manufacturers evenly sharing their resources and giving their best, in a single make championship, the best will go to a select few and the rest will suffer..

No, the single tyre is working well in F1 and WSBK, no corruption, everyone gets the same tyres.

So... I think the majority of us don't want a single tyre. I agree.. but..
I ask this question..

Do you think Dorna is playing politics by going public with this? I do.
I really think that Dorna is threatening the single tyre rule to put pressure on Michelin and Bridgestone to get together to agree. That is all.

I think they are serious but more important they want go competition and to keep up the fan/sponsor revenue base. It's always about the $$$

As per usual with rabid Nicky fans everything is Dani's fault, I know you don't want to acknowledge the reality that Dani is beating Nicky this season. But this constant whining is so pathetic ...
Dani AFAIK has never demanded spec tyres, maybe you should look elsewhere to see who is in favour of it.

Suuuuure they do, how naive are you?

Well I was thinking to myself ... how paranoid are you??? Haven't heard any complaint yet from WSBK or F1 teams about tyres not being equal.

Dorna are a little bit DIM!

Its only gonna slow the bikes down. Michelin first 3 at a bridgestone test track there is no problem whatsoever now.

was'nt this the reason they went to the 800cc rule?... well i guess they figure all on the same tires will have the disired effect

Apparently JT had a moan after Germany about being given crap tyres, but these things happen.

Spec tyre rules are ok for amatuer racing but these are grand prix world championships, technological competition is a vital part of what it is.

The who idea of control tyres is that they are all the same, a championship suppplied by only one company (F1) is a very different situation, that needs to be made clear.
