You seriously have never heard of the Michelin Saturday Night Specials.? After they were banned Rossi promptly got smoked in 2007 by a virtual unknown on a pos bike. Rossi squealed like a stuck pig threatening to quit if he wasnt given Bridgestones. Without a tire advantage, he has proven to be solid all around rider, but nothing nearing goat status. Since every rider has been on the same tire, Rossi has 15 wins and 1 title in 7+ years. Lorenzo has 39 wins and 3 titles in the same time frame, Stoner had 22 wins and a title in 4 years, Marquez has 26 wins and 2 titles in 3+ seasons. Compared to 70+wins and 6 titles with a tire advantage, its easy to see that Rossi is not who you think he is. Is it proof, no, but it is very compelling evidence.

Yes I've heard of them. Have you seen the old video where Nicky Hayden says that all the top guys got them, not just Rossi? I'm guessing you haven't.

If you're going to be an anti-bopper, you owe it to your cohorts to at least present accurate information.

I knew you'd be returning.

Feeling my way through the darkness
Guided by a beating heart
I can't tell where the journey will end
But I know where to start
They tell me I'm too young to understand
They say I'm caught up in a dream
Well life will pass me by if I don't open up my eyes
Well that's fine by me
So wake me up when it's all over
When I'm wiser and I'm older
All this time I was finding myself
And I didn't know I was lost

You are debating a guy in Povol with an encyclopaedic knowledge of the sport, who watched Nicky Hayden race his entire career, many times live when Nicky was racing in the USA. Of course he can be biased, but your assumption that your faith in your one true bike racing God somehow makes anything you say true is risible.

Everyone knows a number of riders, but still a select number, got SNS tyres. Michelin only made them to one recipe however, and there is fairly good evidence that the recipe according to which they were cooked was Rossi's. We have debated this at length, and I personally am unsure how much advantage this gave Rossi. On the one hand, Colin Edwards has said he couldn't ride them, Toni Elias won that fateful race, a win which ultimately proved crucial in the 2006 championship, because he got Dani Pedrosa's SNS tyres which Dani couldn't ride on that occasion, and Randy Mamola, a name which may not mean much to you if you came in late as seems likely, said they favoured Rossi. On the other hand the likes of Gibernau, Hayden and Biaggi didn't complain about the tyres, something Max at least was not backward about doing in general.

Bottom line in any case is that it is Rossi fans of your ilk who over the years have done all the complaining about supposed advantages possessed by other riders, particularly Nicky Hayden and Casey Stoner, that it was Rossi who demanded the Bridgestones developed by years of the efforts of others starting from well behind Michelin as soon as he thought his advantage was gone, and it has been his fans such as you who have constantly derided his competitors and attempted to discredit championships won by them culminating in Rossi himself positing his preposterous conspiracy theory regarding Jorge's championship win last year. You guys and he are now copping back some of what you have dished out for the best part of 2 decades, on a very small corner of the internet. If you don't like it, tough; in fact, so much the better.

See but you ASSUME I'm just a fan of Rossi, which is not true. I enjoy watching Marquez for his brute talent, I'm excited to see if Vinales will really be the next big thing, I root for Dani because he is so small lol, I love Cal even though he loves to crash, I became a big fan of Smith after seeing him on some motorsports show doing a bike demo. I was saddened when Hayden left for superbike, but knew it had to be. I could go on and on but there's no reason. Yes, Rossi is my favorite for whatever reason, but I have been very critical of his actions last year. I chose to forgive and forget, so to speak, and simply hope that those sort of actions won't happen again. So please don't assume I only enjoy the sport because of a single rider because that's simply not true.

And I'm not trying to be rude by saying this, but I could not care less about a bunch of people "dishing it out" to me on some internet forum. However, if I disagree with you, don't expect me to sit here and not say a word.

Also, were you working for motogp back in the day when these SNS tires were made? Neither was I. Ok, so some riders complained that they may have been tailored to Rossi. How do we know those riders weren't simply complaining and tainting the story because they weren't good enough? We have NO way of knowing exactly what happened behind closed doors my friend.

Finally, if you truly believe that two riders could have conspired last year to make it harder for Rossi to win the championship, you're being naive. things like that happen all the time in sports, and if you think Marc and Jorge couldn't have done something like that, then how in the world do you believe that Michelin made tires geared towards Rossi? they are both conspiracy theories, yet you chose to believe what you want to believe.

**edited** The only rider I truly dislike is Lorenzo. I hate his arrogant attitude. Whenever he wins he gloats about his "talent" and whatnot, and when he loses, there's almost always an excuse. Notice I didn't say ALWAYS.

I am actually the one among the "Rossi Haters" on here who gives him full credit for all his titles, and having been a Doohan fan well before Rossi ever raced am well aware of the natural order of things in GP bike racing ie that the best riders end up with the best teams with the advantages which accrue from that situation. Colin Edwards was his loyal team-mate however, which is why many found his candid comment about the SNS Michelins telling.

I hadn't previously disliked Rossi as you dislike Lorenzo, but last year's behaviour opened my eyes to him being fully complicit in, and in fact pretty much the instigator of, the persecution of every significant rival he has ever had, and there is no going back on what is a pattern of behaviour spanning almost 2 decades I am afraid.

Dislike Jorge's personality all you like, but he is also one of the fastest riders who ever lived, and has raced fairly and honourably (in the premier class anyway, he was more dodgy as a 250 rider). I initially came to admire him because of how hard he fought in defense of his title against a rampant Stoner in 2011, almost losing a finger when he crashed pushing in practice at PI in what was by then a hopeless cause. I became a stronger supporter in 2013 partly because I wanted him to beat Marquez whom I disliked because of the Willairot incident etc, but again could not but admire his gritty title defense, particularly him riding with the newly fractured and surgically internally fixed clavicle at Assen.

Ok, fair point.

I hadn't previously disliked Rossi as you dislike Lorenzo,

I hadn't really starting disliking Lorenzo until hearing a bunch of his post-race interviews last season where he came across very arrogant.

Never said he wasn't. Just not a fan of his.

If you're eager to learn about the riders and the other side of MotoGP try reading some of the riders books. Lorenzo's in particular is very very interesting and goes deep into his psyche. When he joined Yamaha he was young and in awe of Valentino and wanted to be friends, learning from him and forming a super team. Valentino snubbed him, was nasty to him and spun every statement he made to belittle him. Lorenzo is actually a very shy and nervous person who tries to put a mask up so as not to show his opponents a weakness, Rossi almost made him ill with his abuse at first. He in desperation hired a speech and media helper, who to this day writes his interviews to avoid Lorenzo being caught out by the press who probe and try to create scandal and trouble. Lorenzo simply has his speech for each occasion memorised, spits it out then shuts up and leaves, it's a good part of this that gains him his "arrogant" moniker.
The guy is just doing his job as a racer, he does a damn good job too, it's not his or anyone's fault if they beat Rossi, it's their job and doesn't make them bad persons for doing so, even though Rossi does his best at times to make it appear so.
Racers are racers, personality doesn't win races, they're not paid for personalities.

Nailed it [emoji4]

Valencia 2013, JLo needed help from his Yamaha team mates (factory and tech 3). Crutchlow crashed, smith was not even in the top 4 level. Rossi was riding his own race. All of this happens, when he was holding (slowing down) both the Repsol Honda riders for nearly 50% of the race. 99% of the motogp fraternity didn't even bat an eye. Always seems to put themselves on his shoes.

Sounds like the announcement will happen today. So I was wrong, as usual.

No offense, and I am sure you are correct, but as a Yamaha guy and a George fan, I hope you totally missed this one!!

But, sadly, I think you are going to get most of it spot on...
