BTW--No, Ducati should not sack Hayden.
They sacked Capirossi thinking he was finished, and they have been proven wrong.
They sacked Melandri thinking he was finished, and he's proving them wrong.
They can keep hiring and firing riders, but that will not solve their problem.

Intelligent people (even if sometimes deluded) will always be welcome.

capirossi sucked on a ducati. melandri sucked on a ducati. both are good riders.

stoner is the only one that does not suck on a ducati.... all we can do is speculate, but it would seem that ducati is the problem, not the rider.

the only way of knowing for sure is to put valentino on a duck and see what happens

.....and put Stoner on a factory Yamaha to determine if that Ducati/Stoner combination is just a freak show or not

I think that was JB's vision a few years ago ..... I wonder if we wouldn't see a fair few lappers then

What I also wonder these days too, ok Stoner is not on great pay, but gee there must be some talks going on in the background regarding his future post 2010
<

I'm thinking Stoner and Spies .... wonder how that would go

New era of MGP?

With Spies on the Yamaha of course and when some of the kids like Solis Smith Marquez and the rest start getting in the mix its going to be great

stoner had contract negotiations straight after winning in 07.

he could of names his price back then, but wasnt a greedy ....... and has stated many times he rather win races and have ducati put money into development rather than make millions of dollars that you cant even use in your lifetime.

and pffft spies, ok hes done well in WSBK, but against Haga? a guy who was at best an average rider in motogp

yeah bring on spies, another mid pack racer. cant wait to be proven right again

Capirossi didi NOT suck on a Ducati, he won several GPs on the 990 and in 2006 he was a title contender until Sete took him out. Even on the 800cc, which he never liked, he is still the most successful rider after Stoner, and the only other rider to have won on it.

Ducati would be only too happy if Hayden would deliver results at Capirossi's 2007 level. To fire Capi thinking he was finished was one of their bigger mistakes. Now they should not repeat the mistkae--they got to work with Nicky until the rideability of the bike is sorted out.

yes i was, i said melandri a failure, and predicted hayden was a failure and IF ducati did choose him would turn out to be a nightmare for ducati, which is turning into fruition.

what i did predict was that ducati woulnt be so stupid enough to sign hayden and put themsevles in a hole biiger than iraq. so i was wrong in thinking ducati had more sence than they did

Jarno, Ducati was thinking Hayden is quite 'similar' to Stoner in their style but it seems not working either, at least until now, Hayden just need figure it out how to tame the bike or else his mental is crashed and he is done this season, he should move to WSBK to compete against old Benny and others

.. just my thought.

I agree fired Capirex is their biggest mistake, maybe Suppo smokes Marlboro too much

Capirosi is part of the reason Stoner won 07. He took bucketloads of pressure off Stoner at varying stages of the C-ship. And on top of that, irrespective of whether Stoner was beating him I think he was remained on pretty good terms with Casey.

I know Capi comes out here and does a lot of charity work, in Western Aust., around the GP time, and he seems to have an affinity with Aussies.

Did Ducati actually sack him? or price him out? or did they not offer him a ride, I can't remember?

Whatever the case I think had Capi still bee with Duc. in 08, things may have been way different, we certainly saw a few occasions where Stoner succumbed to pressure. Seemed t have t deal with Rossi and Pedrosa on several more occasions in 08. Capi may have been in between Stoner and those two, so far Melandri and Hayden have not gone anywhere near providing that sort of backup.

I also thought Nicky's style would suit the Desmosedici, and I agree until now it has not shown, which imho means that it is not just a matter of style. So the Ducati mistery continues, or even deepens... But firing Hayden to hire another rider wouldn't solve anything. If Hayden gives up and wants to leave, that's another matter.

Another issue is, how many riders are now ready to jeopardize their careers with a Ducati ride?
