Should Casey be punished

Nicely done
<
Realistically we both know Stoner deserves a penalty for his actions today about as much as Rossi does. As in he doesn't

Rossi's actions were part of racing and not deliberate. Stoners were not part of racing and were deliberate. At very least a safety meeting should be called and a clear line in the sand drawn.

Biaggi and Rossi would have taken the cheap shot in this situation if they were taken out

Well done to Casey for not doing so.

From that picture we can clearly see rossi was more in need of marshal help. I doubt stoner was running over there to help the trapped rossi

It should be looked at by race direction. And if they see fit to punish Stoner, they should fine him.

If they do levee a fine, I think it should be divided up among the marshals at the track for eye exams. Clearly they didn't see there were two bikes that had crashed. And honestly, I don't blame them, as the bikes were on top of eachother and looked like it was just one big bike. Also, I like to propose a rules change. The neon yellow on Rossi's bike should be made required markings for all riders. It will help everybody see the bikes. Safety first!

Regardless of who was involved if stoner broke the rules or law he should be punished.

I think stoner should face the law courts. When found guilty be put on a prison ship and sent to some dusty dry .... hole somewhere in the southern hemisphere and never allowed back out.

Why do you want to send him to Argentina?

and what did rossi do wrong?

The Australian also underlined that he was not pushing when Rossi caught and attacked him, as he was waiting for conditions to change later in the race.

"I wasn't in a hurry to stay in front of everyone in this race," said Stoner. "We knew the tyres were coming down and everyone would be in the same situation, so it was just time to stay quiet.

"I heard him coming, I gave him plenty of space, but it still wasn't enough. Maybe next time I need to put the brakes on more and let him go."

so rossi seen the gap and took it unfortunatly lost the front... its racing on a rainy day deal with it!

I just watched the replay. It took a fruction of a second before Stoner got help, after Rossi was pooled out of the wreck. Surely you can understand why the trapped Rossi was a priority? the second Rossi was safe, there were marshals helping Stoner. So I dont see the reason for all this talk. Check the replay again.

This is a joke, right?

Stoner is not the one who made an over ambitious move on a poor handling bike, which for all we know could cost a rider a championship (all the points count if it goes down to the wire) but still got help from the marshals to return to racing and get decent points.

No, Stoner does not deserves a penalty from this incident, in fact, punishing Casey would make the FIM look like they just want Rossi to win (as Rossi has been given a lot of leeway when it comes to aggressive riding in the past, see incidents involving Sete at the Spanish GP and Stoner at the US GP in the past).

- for the record, I don't think anyone needs a penalty, it;s just unfortunate racing incident on a track that saw a massive number of crashes all weekend and a bike that in particular is very hard to ride.

Rossi 'wasn't trying to pass Stoner'

By Toby Moody, Matt Beer, Michele Lostia Sunday, April 3rd 2011, 16:03 GMT

Valentino RossiValentino Rossi says he was not even trying to overtake Casey Stoner when he took the Honda rider out of second in the Spanish Grand Prix.

Rossi had made rapid progress from 11th on the grid on the wet track, but fell when challenging Stoner for second place and knocked the Honda over in the process. The former champion said he had simply outbraked himself and dodged to the inside hoping to miss Stoner.

"When I arrived behind Stoner, I didn't want to overtake him in the moment of braking, but I braked a bit too deep compared to him, and I arrived too fast and I didn't have enough room to go on the outside so I tried to go on the inside to make less problems for both of us but unfortunately I lost the front and I also took him out," said Rossi.

"It's completely my mistake and I have to say sorry to Casey. I know that he's very angry because he didn't make any mistakes. I went straight to say sorry."

When Rossi apologised to Stoner in the Honda pit afterwards, television cameras caught the Australian asking Rossi about the health of his injured shoulder and suggesting his 'ambition outweighed his talent'. Rossi laughed off his rival's comments.

"I don't know, maybe he doesn't know exactly who I am!" Rossi said to Italia1 television. "But it's okay, it's fair enough, he's angry and I would be too. I've made a mistake and for me it was important to apologise. I'm not so interested in what he says."

The marshals were already headed back to lunch (surely thinking about how they would circle jerk while telling the story that they helped Rossi) when, Stoner by himself, had to call them back and ask them to push the bike.

which only one of them did

Freakin' WhoreHey Lorentho is looking real good right now thanks to Rossi.

Nicky "The Kentucky Fried Chicken" Hayden manage to get a podium.... of course ony due to the attrition.

And what was up with Side Show Bob Simoncelli? When he dropped his bike whiile in the lead he didnt even care to hurry and pick the bike up, same with Spies. I guess they were too diappointed in themselves to care.

Can you read ? This is not about the accident you fool !

Rossi was afraid to take off his helmet before approaching Stoner. He could at least man up and take off his helmet while apologizing.... COWARD!!

Man I still can't believe Nicky "The Kentucky Squid" Hayden got a podium...... that just ruined my day.

regardless of what happened that caused him to be taken out of the race he jumped over pit wall with the sole purpose to show vale his contempt. This put not only himself in danger but other riders on track. Spectators have no place on track side and i believe it is against the law. I also think HRC should face sanctions for there emotionally out of control employee's actions. This type of behaviour has no place in such a fast dangerous sport like motor racing. He should have stayed in his garage. What ever next?
