Sepang Test

It's only testing, and mainly tire testing to adjust the bikes to these new michelines. It's taking more time because the new front is much better so they are now backpedaling from shifting the balance to the back and revert to a more normal setup as used with the bridgestones... kind of back and forth.

The new michelins seem to suit Lorenzo best, but not the harder option.
Lap times are not very meaningful at this early stage though. The only times worth of more consideration are those of CS27, -- heck, coming back after such a long break with a completetly dffferent bike, tires and electronics, and look competitive, is astounding and very promising for his anticipated wildcard on the Ducati.

Just imagine, we could be seeing another Rossi P2 in the championship minimum if the RCV has nothing to offer.

Have faith in Ducati man!

https://www.facebook.com/MotoGP/videos/10154161160595769/

Video of Lorenzo braking with the Michelins. He's not loading up heavily on the front, and the rear end chatter is minimal, so I think this bodes very well for a title defense.

Smooth as Mantequilla...

Stoner is being talked about now more than he was when he was racing, and most of it is positive. I think he is enjoying his new found love fest And will try and do enough to stay in the conversation. The news that he wanted to race in Pedrosa's place says a lot. No matter what he says publicly, his desire to race is still boiling .

Any racer misses 'the hunt'...hell I still miss Superkarts but like Stoner, it;s all the ........ that goes with it that I don't miss. He can go testing now, on the best bikes in the world and even do a few races "If he fancies it" and doesn't have anywhere near the same level of ........ and media commitments day in day out he used to have. Isn't that the dream?

There really would not be a whole lot to talk about at Ducati if it were not for Stoner being there. The publicity alone is worth it if it gets people talking and excited about Ducati. How well Stoner's inputs transfer to other riders remains to be seen. HRC didn't appear to utilize him much, now he has a real chance to prove his worth as a test rider.

I disagree, Ducati were the talk of the paddock this time last year with their GP15...Stoner was nowhere to be seen.

:D Input from riders before the arrival of Gigi was taken as seriously as input from members of this forum. Even Stoner fans can relate to that since Ducati didn't listen to him either.

If you seriously believe that Ducati didn't move heaven and earth for Rossi then you are deluded.

Incidentally, was that Harryjones05 they were interviewing?

Naah, he's busy at Almeria getting data for Tito...

Lorenzo has now set his best lap of the day, on the harder tyre. Remains 3rd.

Less than 10 mins left and riders are improving. Crutchlow has gone 5th, Lorenzo 2nd, Rossi into 5th, Stoner into 8th and Smith has broken into the top 10.

I know it's just testing and very early in the test schedule but good to see it so close at the top and a good mix of teams there as well. Hopefully stays that way.

Yeah, as interesting as it would be, I don't see Barbera running podium pace when the season starts!

Don't think anyone does, but the fact that there's 5 or 6 different teams in the top 8 and so close on times bodes well.
Of course different folk are trying different things.

On the flip side I don't see Pedrosa running in 12th all year.

I might be wrong but Loris Baz's tyre looks a bit under inflated.
Lucky lucky fella

Soon after, a gangly Yorkshireman in a Kawasaki T.shirt with a huge chin and an even larger grin was allegedly spotted by witnesses vaulting the perimeter fence with an M39 51mm enhanced sniper rifle under his arm.

This picture from an earlier post is not only testament to the build quality of the 'stars but when next to the other Loris, Baz is ostensibly 22ft tall. Reminds me of the recent picture of Pov and Jum...

..except that Pov genuinely is 22 feet tall.

He should shut up about it. I cringe every time i hear Jorge say how easy his lap times are achieved. Lorenzo may have just ...... himself. Always keep your cards close. He should be saying it's not the tire but his team exploiting the ECU or whatever. Rossi has been complaining that the gap to Lorenzo is too big. Given Michelin were able to significantly change the front tire in a couple of months, they can certainly change it in the next couple. If we're talking about it here, you can bet your ... it will be covered in the Motorhome Meetings, item #1.

Yea, the edge treatment wasn't being utilized until later after the season started.

I said the same thing in 2012 when Casey mistakingly after testing said the 12 version of the RCV was by far the best bike he had ever ridden. We all remember what happened after that proclamation. I still believe that was the straw that broke the camels back causing Stoner to retire.

Crutchlow say's Ducati is a shoe in to win first race of the season. I guess with him being on track and knowing who has what, he should know what he is talking about. I have more confidence in Yamaha and Honda to make that kind of statement, plus I feel they have the superior riders
MotoGP Sepang test: Ducati have big advantage - Crutchlow - Bikesport News

Crutchlow was already whining about the LCR Honda after day 1 of testing.

Dude needs to .... off to WSBK or British Superbike.

That aside, I don't believe Ducati is a shoe-in to win at Losail. Lorenzo has the speed, and frankly I don't see the Yamaha getting nerfed because it would hurt Rossi as well.
