OK - but I mean generally, injury aside, Dani never seems to get much love from the others.

Even after his win at Donnington - its not as if the other riders were tripping over themselves to congratulate him.
If anything, Rossi almost tried to steal his thunder on the podium even though he had finished second.

we don't feel sorry for dani, he made a choice to race. I know we did complement rossi/loris/sete back then on their results, so why not now for dani??he was clearly in pain, and he drove a hell of a race. he didn't ask for our sympathy, and he doesn't get that from us either

I thought that the chair rossi pulled out was a nice gesture to dani, but rossi didn't thought about that. I'm not a big fan of rossi anymore, he's a great rider but I just don't like his little acts everytime he wins a race.

I agree, and I was a bit shocked when he sat down on it himself. I was expecting a sporting gesture, but I'm not sure there is such a phrase in Italian.

Thats true, however Dani doesnt help himself, he doesnt seem to enjoy himself out there, I guess the rest of the riders know that everyone is expecting Dani to do great things or to become the next Rossi, so thats getting to his head, and i believe it is satrting to show. No one likes a kid that thinks he is better than you.

Dani earns my respect for the exact reason Rossi loses it, Dani doesn't try and play stupid psychological games with anyone, Rossi is fast losing my respect for being arrogant and behaving in a manner I'd expect of a five year old towards Dani. Grow up Rossi.

You may like it or not, but psycology play an important role in most sports, motorsports included. I doubt many that follow this sport would say that Rossi's psycology doesn't work. Even when he's down (in points) he choose to make fun of himself, and attac. He play out his role as a master. He may look like a clown but make no misstake, there is some humor there but with a very serious purpose. Look at a guy like Sete, he still havent won since Rossi put a spell on him in Qatar 2 years ago. Look at every rider less than a mile in front of Rossi, all they can think of is when he attac and in what impossible point of the track.

Btw. Don't think for one single second that Dani's stone face isn't part of his own mind game. You take your own personality and play with what you got. Rossi has the clown in him, Pedrosa the stone face. Same game differnt peronalities.

Dude Rossi has earn everything, he is a 7 time world champion, he can basically do anything he wants...anyway what has he done to little crying Pedrosa? Ignore him?..... Does anyone remember how Rossi and Biaggi hated each other? No one was saying "oh poor Max", C'mon You all guys see Dani as a little girl, thtas why he is such a baby.

Just because he can doesn't mean he should. He's not ignored him. Pedrosa won at Donington, he was celebrating with his team when Rossi comes into the parc ferme and does a burnout, right in front of Pedrosa. If he'd have wanted to celebrate, he could have done it on the track with his fans, not in parc ferme in front of Pedrosa. Cut him some slack, its his first year in the MotoGP!
And today from what I gathered, though I'm not sure I understood right, Rossi pulled out a chair as if for Dani, and then sat on it himself. That is a disgusting thing to do, considering Dani is injured.
And no one was saying oh poor Max because Max gave as good as he got. Pedrosa has done absolutely nothing to Rossi this year, he's never disrespected him. I don't expect Rossi to get along with Dani, I do expect him, as a seven time world champion and ambassador for the sport, to show the minimum of respect towards his rivals, and be a little more courteous towards an injured rider.

Gotta be race of the year, i've never see a Caparossi/Rossi battle quite that good, and I've seen a lot

Dani earns a lot of my respect after that performance, after injuries like that and a carsh which surely shook him up big time, he still managed to grab 3rd and close the points on Hayden.

This subject is hotting up, nice reading.

Have to agree with some of the comments. Rossi can be a little bit silly at times
<
, I think today as a sporting gesture he should have given him the chair, BUT WHY should he? Some part of me says he doing it becuase Dani is part of Honda and we all know have much he hates Honda.

Is it Dani or is it Honda he's mocking....

How can people not understand that Rossi plays mind games? He's the most intimidating rider in MotoGP and if you think for one second that he doesn't like you as a rider.. then your obviously going to be that much more effected by it. Rossi know's exactly what he's doing.

Excellent battle between Rossi and Capirossi, heart stopping stuff.

Dani road excellent and if not carrying that knee injury, he may have gone better.

Nice result and a welcome for Gibbers, he was on a hard front so was expecting some last lap magic.

Hopper from 14th to 6th was great to see, and De Puniet came back from the dead to claim 13th, and Carlos Checa seems to be working miracles on that Dunlop shod Yami.

Yeah the chair thing had me puzzled for a while, my thoughts were Rossi carrying it to the podium area for Dani.

Seems like the folks from the forum that took the trip got their moneys worth.

BTW who got the fastest lap????

DANI! DANI! DANI! If any more of you blow any smoke his arse he will explode!
Poor Dani? Bad Knee?
Some of you talk of mind games.. Its funny how danny goes up to the bike in a wheelchair.. gets on it.. oh me leg,, ouch ! Then goes like a rocket. ( must be all that smoke up his ass)
Goes around corners with his knee twating and scraping the road, doesnt drop any lap time? Finishes 3rd, comes into winners encloser and gets of the bike using that ...... little wooden box and limp, limp, limp.. kisses his boyfriend Alberto Puig who whispers in his ears "Show some pain in your face dani for ..... sake, theres a wheelchair coming for you in five mins" What aload of bollocks.. There is your mind games.
Big gash in his Knee, brave dani, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah !
Brave men: Nakano 200mph blow out Italy 04, Hopkins Highside Germany 05, Melandri, Gibernau, Caparossi Catalunya 06.
Balls to Pedrosa. Rossi should of put him over his knee whislt sat on that chair and slapped that kids arse!

Wow!! that was some race, well worth getting up at stupid o'clock for....caparossi/rossi battles are always a pleasure to watch.

Well done to Dani for riding through the pain barrier to get a well earned podium.

As for the chair thing...when watching it i assumed Rossi sat on the chair taking the piss out of the fact he was knackered as just before it he was lying flat out on the ground.......have to say I don't think Dani would have saw it as a nice gesture from Vale had he offered it to him, more likely he would have thought Vale was trying to take the piss out of him.

Next weekend can't come quick enough
<

I have to admit that I also thought Vale would give that chair to Dani (awww...how thoughtful of him...) but when he sat unto it himself, I just laughed at it.

The thing is, we don't really know what's going on their minds at that time. We don't know if Vale did that to piss Dani off or he's just really damn tired from all that racing with Loris.

AND we don't even know if Dani cared even just a little bit with what Vale did. We are here talking how it pisses us off when we're not even sure that Dani was pissed off.

Let's just dwell on the FACT that it was a fantastic race and we all enjoyed watching it.

Cheers!

have you ever injured yourself doing sport, had the adrenaline kick in (cos i'm sure it must be an adrenaline rush riding one of those bikes!) then when you've finished had it hurt like hell??

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Dazza @ Sep 11 2006, 06:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>BTW who got the fastest lap????

fastest lap went to Loris Capirirossi .... a 202.127 .... still 2 seconds off rossi's 'qualification' time

Who would have thought a chair could cause so much controversy! Who gives a fk about the damn chair! Didn't anyone watch Rossi in the 125's and 250's? He does these things for a laugh, not as an insult to anyone else. Everyone keeps talking about mind games, and yes he is a master at them, but things like the chair and the burnout in parc ferme are just part of his celebrating. As I don't personally know him and I'm sure no one on here does, we are all speculating, but I honestly believe that he does these things to get a laugh (at himself, no one else). I didn't see Pedrosa rushing to congratulate him after the race (and I like Pedrosa, so I'm not having a go at him) so why should Rossi go out of his way to make a fuss of him? Rossi shook his hand twice, once in the room before they went out on the podium and then again on the podium. I don't understand why people have suddenly turned against him this year. I don't recall there ever being so much animosity towards him in previous years. Maybe its the tall poppy thing. He showed even when he was down and not having the best run of luck that he was a champion by not letting the pressure get to him and he has come back to prove that he is the best out there.

And BTW, the battle between Rossi and Capirossi was awesome!
